The Class 380 has been teased to be a DLC for Cathcart Circle, talk about it here. Unless it's not real... that would be quite embarrassing wouldn't it? Edit: It's confirmed!
Hold your horses! I think it is best not to jump to assumptions, as it could be for the upcoming route which is what I am hoping, rather than as 'loco' DLC.
Likewise I really hope its not a loco dlc. If it is I think it'll be a little underwhelming. Not my cup of tea anyway!
I mean the IC Cabcar thread was put up a few days ago now, I don’t think I’m jumping the gun that much…
Honestly I didn't see that one as I haven't got the interest in German content. It does seem more certain that would be standalone though, than the 380 as I think the 380 would be a very strange one to put in a 'loco' DLC.
Honestly that would be the best situation, though unfortunately because it was teased on cathcart I think the best we would get is an extention added to Cathcart rather than a new route
Don’t we already have several threads speculating on the 380? Anyway will just repeat what I said elsewhere, unless it comes with a new and extensive route it’s of little interest to me. Modern one handle EMU, postage stamp cab view worse than the 314 and only marginally better than the 385. Suspect little or no traction sound audible in the cab, doing 40 MPH max stop start bus service on Cathcart. No thank you.
If it was out of Glasgow central (which it probably would be if it had a 380) they could've done something in central station, still a possibility but personally I think it'll be either a loco DLC or an extension
I'm a fan of train additions to existing routes, so any release that turns a route into a multiple (different) unit experience with fresh rolling stock is ok with me. As this game appears to be becoming Scotrail Simulation World, I'd like to see a new unit added on Glasgow to Edinburgh as well, that line is as dead as a field of dodo's.
Even making the 801, 170, 158 & if it’s coming 380 as AI at both ends plus populating the depots would make the route feel Much more alive.
The 700 was teased last year during April Fools and it was several months before it was released. It'll be the same here. We don't know if it'll be for Cathcart or another unnamed route.
That's true but it did show the 700 on SEHS, where it ultimately landed. I agree that it might be a bit down the line on the release schedule though.
Yes but nobody wants to buy a Loco dlc for something that they can’t drive, which was the context we were originally talking in. Of course the route needs layers, but we weren’t talking about that.
All I hope this means is that Cathcart Circle will finally get a long awaited timetable update, Making the Class 385 drivable on 314 Services and adding Class 801s, and maybe Class 170s to Glasgow Central (And 158s too when that comes out).
I hope it is a bit further down the line.. as many people have said; this is going to be a really underwhelming loco DLC if that's what it ends up being. I personally think that this train deserves a new route with it being yet ANOTHER (in my opinion) boring EMU as it would make the purchase a lot more worth it having a bit more to show for it rather than just another EMU... But that's my way of looking at it and I'm not a big fan of EMUs as it is so of course I'd say that... Anyway, if it does happen, there's nothing we can do about it other than just buy it if you want it or leave it if you don't want it. (Still got me fingers crossed in hopes this isn't the new loco DLC...)
Class 170's don't run to Glasgow Central anymore and haven't for a long time. Class 158's wouldn't be able to run if the 385's were there because the 158's only operated outa glc before the Shotts line was electrified. And the class 385's were built post electrification. Class 801's didn't exist when 314's existed and neither did 385's.
I hope it's an Ayshire Coast and Inverclyde line combo but I have a feeling it's just a loco DLC and maybe an extension which would still be good. Matt was talking about another passion project of his like WSR remastered. Maybe this is something like that? Ethier way I can't wait! The class 380 is my local train and I'd be so happy to see it done properly in the game.
I took these photos on a trip to Scotland in April 2019. The 314 operated alongside the 385 for a while.
the class 314 was in service to december 2019 about 1 year the class 385 and 314 was in service in the same time and for the class 801 is possible too the iets 801 was in service in 2019 (september 2019)
I gotta say, i think we should be a little more flexible about this stuff as a community. If fudging a year or two allows for a busier and better timetable i'm all for it. Nothing too egregious, obviously.
A month or so ago Rivet posted a photo on Facebook of a 380 at recently electrified Barrhead which would make for a nice extension to the Cathcart.
I ended up with a class 158 about 6 months ago from Central to Edinburgh. Was a bit bizarre, was a day where there were races or something on(can’t remember exactly) so I assume they were using the 380s/385s for the runs to Ayr. I actually almost missed the train as thought it couldn’t possibly be the Edinburgh train. So whilst unlikely not completely out of place to have 158s at Central.
I had 156495 between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley via Shotts just a couple of weeks after EMUs had started on the route, It was overcrowded, slow, hot etc etc. Not as rare as a 158 admittedly but still unusual.
I just want if the 314 part of the route that we still get to use the drivers standing position for driving it. It's so good being able to stand up in it and drive properly. I know this class 380 thread but since this all started with 314 picture incase it's part of new route or remaster of cathcart circle thought would say
Nah there’s a bit of overlap, but- Too right! It’s silly to get tangled up in all these unimportant discrepancies, it’s so much better having a not 100% accurate era timetable If it means Glasgow Central is not a desolate wasteland, which it is certainly not in real life! And all ScotRail trains have the same livery for goodness sake, it’s really not that much of a reach.
Well, actually only 5 of the 314s ever got that livery. The rest kept their blood-and-custard all the way to the knackers.
Some peak time and late evening services are still operated by 156s and 158s occasionally, so we could have both (Should have worded that better, I mean both the 158 and 385)
You have to remember this is TSW we're talking about. It's very unlikely we'll get two new trains sadly. :/
The Scotrail 158 has already been confirmed for Fife Circle, so if Cathcart Circle is getting an overhaul its possible they'll layer onto the route
Well start forgetting about it it physically can’t happen because clearance issues it’s the same with the refurbed 318s one was sent as far as Kilwinning after a 380 failed last year but was deemed unsafe between Irvine and Ayr due to high winds
I'd bloody love a "Transition timetable" in pretty much any TSW route. Blackpool Lines comes close with a few 101s dotted about. Cathcart with a mix of 314s and 380s would be excellent. It was an opportunity missed for the Bakerloo Line as Silver TS72s mingled with TS38s back in the late 70s so a mid-transition timetable would have been ace. Though it being in single bore tunnels the variety would be mostly hidden from view.
The 380 is a really nice sounding train. Yet I bet they still don’t get the sounds right. Imagine if they just copy and pasted the 700 sounds onto it…. The traction motors sounds the same so why not. Saves time .
