How much mileage does the Long Beach branch add? New train, a rework (which you could argue should have been Pres. Crew territory if they still existed), even 20% off still brings it in at £24 for existing owners on Steam. Not much of a bargain and not only that, to get the preorder discount you need to take a leap of faith this time round will be better. Not really feeling the love for this at all. Should have been £15 for existing owners of the route, maybe £25 all up new. Another one to chalk up for a sale at least 50% off.
I allready paid for 80% of this "new" route... Unimaginable greed. DTG it is obvious you mimick ASOBO (msfs) style, but not enough...
Not very much. The branch in total is only about 9 miles long, but takes about an hour to run because of the frequent stops and slow speeds across the Wreck Lead Bridge.
And, if you bought one of the regional versions that only included the German or US route, you would get the extended version for free regardless of getting it through Xbox Game Pass or not.
I think a missed opportunity was Grand Central. It’s all tunnels and wouldn’t have been hard to model and make.
I guess they're getting around this by setting the route in 2021, but I am disappointed. It would add some extra variety to services to have an additional terminus on the city side as well.
I don’t think US players will feel left out after this super detailed route is released. Then the new San Bernardino route to follow as well, at least for passenger runs, not so much freight unfortunately. LIRR 2 looks about as thorough as any route yet released, hopefully this sort of thing will be the future all round.
It would be cool to have some freight movements layered on LIRR as well, but as I assume it would require additional branches and yards? Or why not the MP15 with some engineering services?
Disgusting... Just disgusting. I was fully expecting the "LIRR 2.0" to be a refresh similar to how they did WSR. The fact I've to pay that money for a copy paste (and I'm saying that loosely...so don't jump down my throat...) route that has newer updated locos and the branches... Personally I think a discount for anyone who owns LIRR (the fact it was released with TSW 1....) would be at least a satisfactory fix. One of my favourite routes too... Absolutely disgusting.
So i think this reaction is from somebody they have clue what it cost to get this licence. WSR has nothing of that... Only they work together and maybe a small fee for the timetables noting big like LIRR2.0
Wow, so no discount for PlayStation owners. It should’ve been at least 30% off for existing owners. Other PS games that released a PS5 version always have a loyalty discount. Every platform is feeling the burn here though. Very greedy of DTG!
Not interested. Just give up doing US content if this is what you think is worthy of full route cost. Waiting for the 70% off sale 6 months later like Trenton.
Why can't people get it through their heads that DTG have NO control over discounts on XBox and Playstation? None. Nada. Zilch. Nichts. Diddly squat. SFA. If you are upset, complain to Sony, because it's their doing.
SEHS extended was free to previous owners as long as you owned TSW3 and previously owned SEHS. It included a new included loco (removing the need to buy the DLC loco) and a route extension and it was FREE as long as you owned the previous version and any edition of TSW3. How is this so different and unreasonable for people to expect?
SEHS extended was a TSW3 core route, and was there as the "new" UK route in place of the genuinely new route customers would otherwise have got with the bundle. So, no, it wasn't "free" - any more than LIRR 1.0 was "free" when I got it as part of TSW2020. From a company budgeting perspective, it was costed as part of the TSW3 release. It wasn't a free giveaway like the WSR facelift was. And LIRR 2.0 is way, way more than just a facelift.
Yes it was FREE in some cases. Eg You bought SEHS for TSW2 and buy TSW3 German Starter edition. You get SEHS Extended for FREE. You trying to turn my argument around and say it's not free of development costs is not the issue anyone is talking about but you. We all know development costs money. Bottom line is if you wanted SEHS Extended for free, it was possible to do so. No such avenue exists for LIRR 2.0 despite a similar amount of stuff being added to it. It's only available at launch for as low as 80% of a full route cost, where SEHS Extended was available at launch for as low as 33% of a full route cost.
Just some extra added context: In real life the LIRR has had a number of improvements done it's network, such as adding an extra track along its Mainline making it 3 tracks, along with a brand new station added by the UBS Arena (just before Queens Village). There's new tunnels around Harold Interlocking (where Sunnyside Yard is) that facilitates tracks that take you to Grand Central. All of these improvements have been made between now and the time of the original game release of the LIRR. However there's a VERY slim point in time where there was no scenery changes yet, things were still heavily under construction. M3's, M7's, and M9's were all running revenue service. THIS is what Matt was referring to. Nowadays there's all the scenery changes and LIRR M3's are hard to find, since the purpose of the M9's were to replace those. I hope that makes things a bit clearer for everyone
It was free if you owned tsw3. Even if you only bought the German or U.S edition but owned sehs, you got it for free.
As usual if you don’t like the pricing scheme don’t buy it. If this isn’t enough of an upgrade from LIRR for some people then they should be happy to keep enjoying the old LIRR. I don’t mind paying for it knowing the amount of work that was needed, LIRR 1.0 is ancient. Assuming it releases in a functional condition of course. If it delivers as advertised based on the first forum/discord reviews this one is a must have.
Yeah no way I'm buying this at 80% of a full route cost. DTG don't have the best track record with ATC/ACSES and it frustrates me that they can't properly add cab signals to the HUD meaning as I'm learning a route like NEC NY-Trenton using safety I am constantly dealing with confusing cab speeds as I learn the route and it's quirks. It's quite different than using the HUD with safety systems on German and UK trains where there are not as many surprises. Then they make it on by default. The beeping really annoys me, moreso than other safety systems. Hopefully the timetable is properly tested with safety systems enabled. I remember having issues in the original LIRR keeping to timetable when there were long stretches of flashing 15...
Oh here we go. Those poor devs. Hey let’s give them 30 quid and an extra 20 because they need to eat,
I'm sure you've told your boss to keep your pay packet, you just come to work because you love doing it, right?
You are mainly paying for the m9. I don't mind paying for the m9 and the reworked stuff. It is expensive for sure, but I don't think we can change much on the business side of things
I, and many others, are necessarily upset with the pricing scheme per se, more disappointed with how little seems to be changing from LIRR 1.0 to 2.0. So much more has happened besides just the introduction of the M9, and those changes don't seem to be implemented. Personally, I was really hoping for some of the diesel or dual-mode locomotives make an appearance, but all we got was a new EMU. I was also hoping for GCM, but I suppose that is a limit of needing M3s, M7s, and M9s all to make sense in the context of the route. So with all that being said, I will be taking your advice and not purchasing it, barring any steep sale, but I still think these discourses are important to have. I think it can only improve the game if players give DTG feedback on why they are or aren't purchasing a route, and comments like yours stifle debate rather than letting it flow.
No. What I do is the best job I can. I try not to rip off my customers because you know we need customers so we can continue to grow. We certainly don’t ask our customers to pay twice. And I certainly wouldn’t defend such practices like a certain someone.
Sales, yes. Loyalty discounts no. I would have a firm belief that DTG have some small control over these. 99.9% of other game studios offer upgrade discounts on their games, but Sony skip DTG… sure.
So, if I understand correctly, LIRR 2.0 is a "new route" completely separate from 1.0 with the new M9 and the updated M7 and giving the opportunity to use the old M3 (for those who own the dlc) is that it?
Plus completely overhauled signaling Plus a completely new timetable that 100% represents the 2021 timetable Plus Time of Day Version 4 (ToD4) Plus new trackage down the Atlantic and Montauk branches to Valley Stream and the Long Beach branch.
Third track, GCM, UBS Arena, extension to Huntington, FRK... Couldn't we have at least made it more realistic and up to standard. Knowing your customers, why would you settle for a 2021 version of the tracks. How does this possibly benefit sales in the long run? I'm glad for the effort which has been placed into the new route, but it all feels very underwhelming. I mean, would any of these additions have taken an extreme amount of effort and time? People want the full and current experience and are willing to pay for it, as clearly shown in the past few days of chat in this lobby.
So why couldn’t that have been done initially? It’s all running on the same engine on the same systems. The excuses people make is off the chart.
They can't add all the tracks. Upgrading the old track and scenery probably used to majority of the resources as well as all the other upgrades. It would take way too long and they don't have unlimited time and resources. It's something you'll have to live with
There is a difference between not being able to do something and just not wanting to do something. They could've done so, but choose not to. It's clear at least from this thread that people wanted the most up to date version of the LIRR. It doesn't make sense not to have the most up to date version
what grinds my gear more was them not doing any extension to Huntington yk an ACTULLY TERMINAL just 10 miles.
this means the safety systems have to be implemented CORRECTLY. maybe this is why it took so long cause they had to make sure they weren't broke for release like most of the NEC routes were at launch lol.
I think, for the amount of money they are asking for, it would have been easier and more appreciated to have an extension to Ronkonkoma, and potentially a Huntington Branch (which was only 3 stations), with the addition of GCM and all the new updates since 2021. The M9 included in this, and possibility for a DM30AC/C3 expansion in the future. The argument that "they needed to fit a timeframe where the M3, M7, and M9 were operating" is so stupid. I regularly ride between Jamaica and Ronkonkoma for work. I see M3's EVERY SINGLE time I am there. Are they going anywhere anytime soon? No. They need them for the shuttle between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica. Dovetail, you honestly have let us down. This is the busiest railroad in North America, and one of the most loved. I'd rather see a full route on the mainline to modern standards and up to date than a half put together example of the best railroad we have. You are missing so many critical infrastructure enhancements that have changed, that this route is already out of date at release. I am really unsure whether I will buy this even as a person who lives on Long Island. I really think you have the support to come out and say "okay guys, we are going to delay the release and bring this up to modern standards, and show this isn't a cash grab". Or at the very least, announce that you will intend to fix and update the route post release to include these very critical updates. To someone who rides this train frequently, I am disappointed.
That doesn't work for people anymore. Even if they did this, I wouldn't buy it until the route is fully updated. Let's be realistic, what we were shown is what we are going to get. For me, and it seems many other on this forum, these changes are not what we were hoping for when a LIRR 2.0 was leaked. This announcement completely killed any excitement I had, for the very reason you stated. Without GCM, a third track on the mainline, and the most up to date timetable, this route is already out of date. Now, most routes are out of date when they are released, but given the significant advances the LIRR has made, I believe this one should have been as up to date as possible. Not including GCM is the biggest miss for me.
