Im not sure why Matt said that on the stream and why others are saying that. As of today, the LIRR still has 100 M3s in service. The exclusion of GCM, the third track, a dual mode loco, and the mainline to Ronkonkoma was solely because DTG didn’t choose to do it. That is fine, but to me it is a dealbreaker for purchasing this new route at full price. I understand there are budget and time constraints when developing the route, but this could be the US version of London Commuter (kind of like NYT was supposed to be and failed).
Since when is that a requirement? Every route is a time capsule. Even the very first routes, SPG and GWE, reflected a historical state older than the release date.
All true, but I think a members main issue is that all the upgrades should have been part of the release.
It’s not a requirement, as seen with the many historical routes that have been released. But, in this particular circumstance, given we already have the LIRR as it was then, I was hoping for the LIRR as it is now. So much has changed between the first LIRR release and today, and that could’ve been taken advantage of to make this new route truly feel like a new route. Of course, this is all just my opinion and you’re free to disagree.
M3s are still running, ESPECIALLY on Long Beach and Babylon branches. Were it up to me I would have added GCM (2mi) with third track and Elmont, plus Far Rockaway (5mi), West Hempstead (5mi), East Williston (2mi), and Huntington (10mi). Would have been 81 miles long with ample action, and each of those branches have a unique character. Guess I gotta learn the editor...
The original LIRR route is one of the few TSW DLCs I really regret spending money on. I never could get the hang of the safety system/speed limits on that (since I play without most of the HUD assists), maybe they just weren't working right to begin with?
Dovetail should include the third track from Floral Park to Hicksville, possibly extend to Cold Spring Harbor and extend to Grand Central Terminal/Madison. M3s are still being used, but cannot go to GCT/M because they cannot travel the grades.
There's nothing which could make me believe that the signalling and safety systems will be working in 2.0, and we're left with an unplayable route due to systems being always on (a fairly stupid move from the licensor - it's a game after all) LIRR 2.0 - not for me. I know my DTG very well.
No pre-order discount or loyalty discount for PS5 means I have no real pressure to buy this on day one, I will say there is a very high chance I will get it day one if the initial response and preview stream looks good. The route is right up my alley so the only thing that might hold me off is if it releases in the same manner as NY: T.
This is exactly how I feel. There’s no incentive to buy it early on PS5, so I will wait for preview streams and player feedback on the forums before making a final decision. As it stands now, the preview and initial feedback would have to completely wow me to make me purchase at full price.
And as I said earlier, the exact polar opposite to how you would expect a concerned operator to react. Don't simulate start up procedures or safety systems then in no way can it be a trainer for the maliciously minded!
I suspect there are concerns other than actual safety/security ones involved - certain sections of the media love to report on crime on public transport...
I fixed your message. I really don't like any city-like routes in TSW. Cause there is no chance that we will see all of the unique buildings, streets, etc. I'm understand why - it will require plenty of time to create all of the assets and it will cost you a big memory hunger. So for now I'm against routes within the city limits.
The route is set in 2017/2018, the M9s did not enter service until 2019…so why not add the third track and GCM…
I believe Matt stated somewhere else that the route takes place in 2021 before Grand Central Madison and the third track came in (the roadmap said same era so it’s a little confusing)
Harold interlocking - 2015/2016 LIRR Main Line and branches - 2018 Timetable - 2021 Yes, it's a weird mashup of time periods but it luckily works
Why did they decide to just not re-do the entire route? And why do this to begin with? This makes no sense whatsoever.. Did nothing in the area change to warrant a scenery update?
so DTG was lazy and thought It was ok to have the 2021 timetable and a 2017 mainline. When Matt said no change was made to the original route I thought surely add would at least add the construction for the third track like was done in TSC for Harold and the Mainline but Nah DTG couldn't even be bothered to update the Mainline to 2021 standards to have a 2021 timetable disgusting. Below is all the changes made to the mainline excluding Harold and beaver interlocking and other improvements along the line by 2021 May 2019: Cherry Lane bridge project complete August 2019: South Tyson Avenue bridge project complete; beginning of new third track installed September 2019: Urban Avenue grade crossing complete October 2019: Nassau Boulevard bridge project and Covert Avenue grade crossing complete April 2020: Plainfield Avenue bridge project complete June 2020: Glen Cove Road bridge project complete August 2020: New Hyde Park grade crossing complete September 2020: Meadowbrook Parkway bridge project complete November 2020: School Street grade crossing complete February 2021: Main Street grade crossing complete June 2021: Floral Park Station ADA upgrades complete August 2021: Westbury North Parking Structure complete September 2021: Willis Avenue grade crossing complete November 2021: Carle Place Station enhancements complete February 2022: South 12th Street grade crossing complet
I bet that if this route doesn't sell well DTG would tell themselves that route extensions don't sell because nobody wants route extensions, even though they'd be repeating the same mistake they did with steam.
Exactly the point I made starting the “Are DTG Testing The Water..?” Thread. Though it was denied by DTG, I would hate to see the failure of LIRR 2.0 doom the possibility of routes like TVL or BCC getting a much needed makeover and extension.
one route extension not selling well is gonna be a bit soon to say extensions don't sell. I think WSR remastered, the Meissen branch on DRA and SEHS extended recieved well. SEHS was in a "buy TSW3 and get the extension" and the other two short extensions and upgrades were free. so all that it will show is for TOD4 and a short 14km branch with a more modern EMU that is still similar to what exists already. people don't want to pay a full route price. for what matt asked on what people would wanna see on a RSN upgrade apart from TOD4. I'm willing to pay full price to double the length and go up to siegen. same for if DRA would be extended to leipzig. but a short little branch is not what I want to spend 35 euro's on.
LIRR I feel like needs a larger discount to previous owners to make it worthwhile, otherwise most people will just wait for it to go on sale later.
Definitely agree with this. As I said previously, £18 to £20 would have been a decent pitch to existing owners, covering the new train and a bit towards the extension and timetable. I’d say at the moment I’m about 55/45 on a preorder purchase, really depends on how things look in the stream weighed against waiting a few months to Christmas and picking it up for £15 in the sale.
This kind of statements are risky.... You have know clue how many people buy dlcs and what dlcs have for sales numbers so this is taken from a self created assumption! Not everything what you're own assumption is is the real truth right?!
Just to back this up - seeing things from both sides, I see lots of "this was really popular" and "this was so unpopular" that are often entirely incorrect and just based on conversation levels on the forum. Matt.
Sorry but you should not get your'e awnser about this point of a dlc is running good or not simply we have no numbers. But thats what we already told to you
Alot of changes and updates have occurred with Harold Interlocking between 2017 and 2021, even into 2023 with the introduction of Harold Interlocking
If you're playing the numbers game then you can quite easily gauge the level of popularity without overall unit sales in two ways: Firstly, the review count. I know it's not an exact science but nonetheless, if one addon receives 100 reviews and another only 10 then it's pretty straightforward to determine that the latter was considerably less popular than the former. Secondly (and this is an exact science), all xbox achievements contain a stat that tells you the percentage of TSW owners who have completed a particular achievement. So therefore, if 0.05% of the entire userbase completed the most basic achievement (which is normally 'complete a service' or 'drive a train a nominal distance') on one route and 0.5% of the same userbase did the same on another route then you can quite easily see that one is tenfold more popular than the other. Besides, on a discussion forum popularity has nothing to do with number of sales anyway, it's about levels of customer satisfaction towards what they have purchased. After all, any given TSW route could sell particularly well, but if it's of particularly poor quality then, despite those healthy unit sales, that isn't going to make it a popular route at all, is it?
Of course, what this actually shows is that Zusi has a clever system where routes are split up into different modules that can be swapped out depending on the timetable. But, of course, DTG have not given us even the most vaguest numbers,
Sorry hold you're horses..... It's not about the quality and what the reviews say at all! This concerns actual numbers sold and their figures. Reviews are really complete but not reliable at all.... A: it's not just about Steam B: it also says nothing about people who have asked for their money back or not. Without those figures your argument makes no sense. There are many who are not satisfied but do not ask for a refund.
Thinking from a business perspective, Lirr 3.0 may be announced in the near future, haha, and the branch will be extended by then.
I'm actually laughing my ass off..... Not! This kind of jokes are not fun anymore sorry..... Think of something truly original I would say
