I know I'm about 9 years late to the party, but I've still got to say...

    Wow!

    Just wow!

The Majestic Falls workshop route is just fantastic! It would be considered a top shelf route at a full retail price of $39.99 USD. But for free, it's unbelievable!

If you are relatively new to Train Simulator Classic like me, or have just never given Majestic Falls a look, it is well worth looking. It is a fictional route, but it is a fantastic representation of a lumber and mining route in western Oregon/Washington, or any hilly country in the central/eastern United States! Your suspension of disbelief will begin just seconds after loading your first scenario! I just finished the "Intro to Majestic Falls" scenario, and I'm just amazed at the time consuming detail that was put into this well thought out route.

Majestic Falls is as good as any of the best retail U.S. freight routes, and there are over 50 Workshop scenarios for it! :D

That's a fantastic route indeed. Notice all the little detail, like pools of water and clutter.

Yes! It is one of the most realistic routes I've ever seen...paid or free!

This is what a good passion product looks like. One made with care and attention to detail.

Here's a list of workshop scenarios for Majestic Falls. Will keep you busy :)

You need to copy and paste the link, I can't link directly because the forum software has issues with encoding the brackets in the URL.

    Code:
    https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=24010&excludedtags%5B%5D=route&requiredtags%5B%5D=%23rtdp{e691522a-1aac-42f0-9502-092a8fd8fabd}&browsesort=trend&days=all

Never use Workshop stuff because there are always issues. But after reading this thread I wanted to check out Majestic Falls. I subscribed to the route, browsed around, but nothing available in TS under Drive > Workshop > Subscribed, rebooted, still nothing. I guess that was it for me trying the workshop again : - ) : - (

If the route supplies scenarios, you can drive them from the respective tabs.
Like how the old DTG routes (such as Castle Rock) have quick drives.
If not, you subscribe to scenarios (easier) or create your own. Use Spikee's link.

(I never drove anything from the workshop tab.)

Now that I checked it, I suspect it suffered from the BNSF ban.

I think my problem is one first need to buy some other stuff and routes. I owned all US routes since TS started on steam, but a few years back I lost my account and had to start from scratch again. I guess this Majestic experienc just confirms the Workshop is just not right for me.

Correct, it and it's predecessor Adriana County used Marias Pass for many assets including track and while it is possible to replace those assets it was (and I did a lot of work on it) not for the faint hearted and was generally unsatisfactory. Both of these Lt.Bligh routes came into their own (outside the US) after the events of the BNSF ban lifting. Both come with scenarios and there are revised versions of Adriana County in the RWA library with further scenarios.

Let me try and guide you a bit. If nothing else, my own practicing it ;)

You can interact with workshop in two ways:
    • Generic Steam web page
    • Inside some games, including TSC
The web page generally allows you to browse everything, with optional remarks.
Here is how Majestic Falls looks to me:
    upload_2024-4-8_14-23-20.png
It shows on the right that it requires Marias Pass, Stevens Pass and Horseshoe Curve.
It also shows its route ID and curiously a scenario, which might be supplied with it.
These tags are generated within the game when you upload, can be wrong, but generally helpful.
This list serves two purposes - guides you what to buy, but also what to have installed.
I wanted to also show that it occasionally shows "You need DLC to use this item", but I couldn't produce it right now.

In-game, in my experience it considers what you have installed, possibly including workshop routes.
On a PC where I only had a minimalist installation, I only got suggestions for that specific route and its basic assets.
It also lists the requirements for any item.

The Subscribed tab, also lists requirements and shows what you don't have.

I agree about the requirements, it tends to cascade. I suppose that's why DTG religiously does the opposite.
Self-contained routes, and then loco DLC that only uses the route.
There are also many authors like RBJets who - years ago at least - stuck to the idea of only using route assets, at the expense of variety.

That said, the majority of folks around are looking for realistic, varying stuff, so you need to born established.
Don't be shy, just hand over that 10000$ to start playing. You'll be fine. :D

Scenario: Bonnie River Logger [GWD192] (High Iron Simulations)

triznya.andras The scenario tag is the QD that comes with the route (required for Workshop upload). I've downloaded all HIS and LtBligh scenarios.

as a general rule workshop content's often mediocre, but Lt. Bligh's routes are absolutely stunning, Majestic Falls and Adriana County especially. Those routes have genuinely the best bad track I've seen in sim as well as just being all around quite nice.

Don't look for it in the Workshop section, just find it in the editor menu or quick drive. Never had a problem with that.

He meant that Majestic Falls should show up in your normal "Standard" menu. No editing required.

It did not, probably because you first need to buy another route.

If you're looking for scenarios without having any for the route installed separately or through the Workshop you're out of luck. Workshop routes do not come with scenarios other than quick drives (which are a requirement for the route to be uploaded). As per my suggestion to look in the editor menu, when you find the route you can just create a free roam scenario and drive on the route, that's what I always do.

Why would they do that? Does this mean you can't play TSC now?

Long story. I started a campaign against them to support people (mainly older people) who can not read that crappy website and crappy software with white text on a black background. Steam lawyers did not like that so I received some official cease and desist letters and they locked my account :)
I had all TS items that ever where released on Steam (I was playing Railworks before Steam was even around)
Of course I can still play. Opened a new account and started buying add ons again.

That's very scummy of them. It's a bit late now but surely you could have got some legal help to get your stuff back, if it was of enough value? There's at least several thousand pounds worth of content in my Steam library so if I paid I probably could get help to get my account back if, heaven forbid, mine got closed too. A friend of mine had their PlayStation account closed down after a false report. No access to what they paid for. It should be illegal (and probably is, but nobody has put a legal challenge to these companies to put them back in line).
