Apparently time constraits led to the creation of only 2nd class coaches for the 1116.
Time whispers that this has been the last drop for me and it's time to move on from this game.

Painting a big "1" on the side of the coaches is already too much? Window spacing in most modern coaches is the same for 2nd or 1st, or isn't it?

 

Sad but understandable - the only thing we can do is work on our patience and only buy stuff when on sale, even better wait for the Humble Bundles.

The interior would need to be done. You definitely just can't change the number on the side - they should have still made the first class coach. Somehow they made the same mistake twice, because the TS version also doesn't come with the first class coach.

 

Of course, those self-imposed time constraints are back at it again... poor DTG being limited by evil DTG...

btw ... I'm downloading now for three days ... if they really want to offer TSW 5 they really really really have to solve this problem.

 

I bit my tongue and bought Goblin. The 710 is AMAZING no complaints the route modelling is great aswell. But i only purchased it last night and im already bored of it and ive only completed 2 ECS runs and a Barking RS - Gospel Oak run. If only this route had the NLL…

 

If you don't need everything installed at the same time, you can uncheck the DLCs you don't need before installing TSW.

For example I only selected these 13 before installing TSW4, as I'm interested the most in the WSR update:

 

I have just had to apply this reinstalling TSC on the laptop. Not so much the install but the subsequent validation, always restarts at the beginning if you have to interrupt it. Only workaround is to disable enough DLC so it can get the core done in one shot, then progressively tick the DLC back in. My Steam content alone HD footprint for TSC is 186Gb!

 

That's how you should do it. Before hitting "Install" untick all and then tick DLC step by step - the biggest feature that I am missing here is the ability to "Select All / None" in the DLC manager, though this is only an issue for this single game on Steam....

EDIT: Best after the core is installed to run the game at least once as a full verification is performed on first start ("full" means two phases, first phase is Steam comparing depot checksums, eventually redownloading, second phase is TS removing duplicate external files that already exist in .ap's when launched) - which will take longer the more you already have installed. So clear all DLC, hit Install, then run TS once, then tick the rest of the DLC.

Maybe not TSW5, but the day they move to UE5 (which I hope they do in the not too distant future), then we will definitely have to think about updating older hardware.

They would. In Late August and early release for September. This is DTG we're talking about, so of course they would announce it. And it will be ANOTHER paid core update with features that were promised for TSW 4. Can't wait to play TSW Version 2.5(Sarcasm)

 

Absolutely possible. This is one of the most engaged threads in the Forums*, and it shows DTG that we are still here and still discussing the game; even many of us who bought TSW4 even though we weren't going to because Enough was Enough. Reaching page 50 was celebrated (if anyone cares to look back) and I'm sure it will be the same at p. 100, which I agree with you we can do by the end of April.

Well, I didn't buy it. I got a key from somebody who bought the TSW4 bundle for higher tiers, but didn't need the tier 1 of it, which is the TSW4.

Since then I only installed WSR with requirements and additional layers for the steam timetable. I'm still a little disappointed with quiet chuffing and quiet safety valve, as also no chuffing at all of the AI services, but it's the WSR I had imagined we'd eventually had gotten in TSW2 after the release of SoS back in 2022. For this moment, I'm still not interested in trying the "core" routes that were included with the TSW4 standard "upgrade". They remain uninstalled - I'll probably check them out when they are requirements of some mods for other routes.

So did the Humble bundle key work individually for TSW4 nonetheless for you? I thought it wouldn't be possible to share the key as people said it would be one key for all products in this time.

 

Humble Bundle was 3 keys, 1 key for each tier, no keys for separate DLCs. Tier 1 was just TSW4 standard edition, so the only thing I was missing from the bundle.

This thread will still be going, when TSW (all versions) disappears up it's own exhaust pipe.
And DTG come to the realistic decision that TSC, was after all a much better option to continue developing.
It's far more of a hobby based game, than the throw away toy train mediocrity of TSW.

If you took the best parts of TSC ( editor, steam traction, freight ) with the best parts of TSW ( graphics, timetable, real world walkabout ) you'd have one heck of a train simulator.

 

I don't really see how freight in TSC is different than in TSW...

 

How true. Said before all TSC really needs is a timetable mode and a bit more interaction in the cabs, opening windows and doors etc. and TSW would be an endangered species. Which of course is why DTG will never change the functionality much beyond what it is now.

Different because US freight has been effectively ditched in TSW but miraculously continues on in TSC, even as we speak.( as does steam )

 

Freight is inherently better on TSC than TSW, at least for the US side.

-More Locomotives.
-More Eras
-More Operators
-More stock
-Some locos have more features or better physics
-I can actually make a realistic consist in TSC and not crash the game (TSW formation editor keeps freezing or crashing when doing this)

 

...and on top of that, much more variety of routes. So much great stuff done by the community on Workshop, like Adriana County or Majestic Falls.

TSW only has a handful of US freight routes whilst there is a huge amount for TSC.

And it doesn't look like there will be any freeware routes for TSW, not even a single small branchline has been released yet. It's TSW's enclosedness that prevents it from becoming a new TSC.

 

I think it's a very shy EMU, or the designers weren't sure it would hold up during coupling operations

 

I got curious with all this talk of TSC as well and realized I’ve been in it a lot lately. The last time I opened TSW4: February 25th. The last time I opened TSC: it’s currently running right now and it’s the only one I’ve played since Feb 25th.. not sure if that’s saying something or not.

I just like all of my custom mods, realistic consists, updated routes with better scenery (no secret this is very hard to accomplish on TSW4) just to name a few.

TSW total play time: 607 hours. In the last two weeks: 0 hours. In the last month: 0 hours. Last opened: Feb 25th, 2024.
TSC total play time: 2,268.2 hours. In the last two weeks: 72 hours. In the last month: 136 hours. Last opened: Today (April 15th, 2024)

 

Really? So if you make a realistic freight train, the game can't handle it? Speaks volumes about the architecture behind it...

 

Every time I try in the Formation editor it freezes and I cant do anything, and sometimes when I can save, trying to place it in free roam crashes the game.

Yet for some reason if I place the DTG premade consists from 4 different US routes in freeroam, its fine......

 

I think that after all this time TSW shouldn't be needing bits & pieces of other games in order to make it great, it should be a great game in it's own right by now.

 

Interesting that the 385 in TSC's Glasgow - Alloa / Dunblane has working DAS system, auto announcements, reading lights and much better sounds than the TSW version... perfect for HUDless driving.





And imho the timetable in TSW is overrated - basically a set of a handful services duplicated and time shifted. I can get much more variety in TSC by playing an autogenerated Quickdrive with randomized traffic at my preferred time/station - at the cost of having to return to the menu at the end of a run though to setup the return trip.
