Hey guys, occasionally I'll form my own formation or livery and try to call it Class xyz but apparently Class is prohibited for some reason. Any one know the reasoning behind it at all?
A poorly made word filter. This is an example of the Scunthorpe Problem in which a word filter reads substrings within words as offensive without looking at other letters for context. Like in class it only sees the last three letters and that matches the blacklist.
that and it looks like they are using nursery style filters, I mean people think the last 3 letters of class is offensive or bad worthy of restricting
Ah, makes sense, I didn’t know these type of filters were still used . Thanks for the explanations chaps!
You won't be able to create a passenger scenario for the same reason... The filter is overly restrictive, as it blocks common English words. I have to ask, what's the reason it filters "freight"?
not sure only 2 things come to mind and I’m not sure they would be the case. 1. it can censor words that are used as replacement words example “for freights sake” 2. it doesn’t like spelling numbers as it includes the 8 and all numbers must be numerical. that’s the only 2 things I can get from “freight” and I don’t think that’s it.
Unfortunately DTG went for PEGI 3 so have a very restrictive filter, probably would be best to go for PEGI 7 for the next version (is the under 7s a big market for DTG?)
Passengers suck and keep you distracted from driving around with trains. They should be forbidden in real life as well. I think most railway companies seem to agree with this, given they way they treat them.
a couple days ago when I wanted to create the word Bratislava with the custom text tool, it said that was a forbidden text, so I had to divide it into Brati, S and Lava
For BRATislava it might be because of the word “brat”, anyway this word filter is too sensitive it doesn’t make really sense sometimes, you can still put offensive words on another language.
I think it was actually "slava", cos first I tried to split it into Brati and Slava, and it blocked Slava
Yeah I just tried it and it blocked me on “slava”, you know what ? Don’t worry too much about that messy filter, it’s a joke really.
well, it actually might inspire me to create a Ukraine-based livery with "Slava Ukraini" ... might actually do it on the new 1116
That is ridiculous! "Class" is literally the classification for all trains. What game are we using here? I don't think this belongs to Offtopic anymore, should be under troubleshooting and bugs.
I imagine it may not take much to change it (just guessing) but it’s possible it would need to be a core update to bring the change.
Yeah, I got that. But I said it even for that case. There should be a differenciation between a Class and an a*s in a train simulator, don't you think?
Railpool also gets flagged because the word poo is in it. I’m sorry, but i don’t think anyone above the age of 2 finds the word poo offensive
Ah, Winnie the Pooh. Traumatising 2 year olds since his inception just because his name has poo in it. (Fun fact, the name Pooh came from a swan called Pooh.)
I actually think both words "a$$" as well as "p00" are only filtered because some people could attach such name to a train and either the operator or manufacturer potentially could find that offensive.
