Here’s a trip report from Paul Lucas on the next-gen Railjet which is running from München Hbf over the Brenner Pass. Looks gorgeous.

You only have a few years left to experience this ride and Senmeringbahn before the tunnels open. Though I am sure there will be tourist excursions over the old alignments.

the route will still be open for commuter traffic IMHO, as you cant have stops in the tunnel :D ... plus, as they learned in Gotthard Base Tunnel, if sth goes wrong in a tunnel or there is a serious accident there, you got to have an alternate route viable (which is why they renovate the classic route that Gotthard B.T. kinda replaced)... so I am pretty positive they wont just leave the route to die :)

Exactly. While I love having Hannah Hermine's Interregio repaints on LFR, I also know that they aren't really IR coaches at all, just ICs with blue stripes.

I would like to see a compilation of situations like these at the end of the year, which is named "Unprepared Sim World 5...hold on, we don't want to leak TSW5, so...4";):D

Is there anybody here who took the plunge and pre-ordered?

Are there any videos from early adopters yet? I haven't found any.

Well, it doesn't come out until Thursday, so would expect the ambassador previews to surface then.

Not really, these people usually get it a few days prior to the official release. There were 3rd party reviews of the Fife Circle route 2 or even more days before the release.

Hello everyone, just to confirm our ambassadors have been recording content since Friday last week, and will be hopefully sharing videos throughout today :)

The embargo only opened ~30 minutes ago (although I believe due to UTC/BST confusion recently, some videos may start popping up from 11am BST instead!). Worth also noting that creators may hold content for a time that suits them, or best fits the algorithm of their viewer base.

Looking forward to seeing how various freight locos handle snowstorms. If the physics are good and there’s some good challenges to be had maybe I’ll jump in this week.

I cannot wait to see a desiro mainline and railjet in that list. a 1144 would be cool too. but even without I can't wait to spend my thursday night and friday taking on the challenge of the mountain with both freight, regional and intercity traffic. from the stream it looked great and I can't wait to see what DTG plans on next to develop. Since the last few releases I have been very happy with the quality. and of course the 1116 will run a lot on other routes too.

Oh, but the 5144 is unlockable! I thought they had screwed us by leaving the track empty out of laziness! :)
It seems, with those fake windows, that they filled the interior with concrete :o.
    But I'm fine with that.

Near Semmering station, there's the monument. On the right you will find the track, where the unit should appear.

A few remarks about the new Taurus.

On the curved sectors of the TTC the locomotive, even "light", consistently derails when reaching ~220 Km/h.

Of course, it is well understood that the nominal speed limits on the TTC are completely misleading, as the curvature radius (presumably well inferior to one Km) could never allow safe operations over 300 Km/h. Nonetheless, 220 Km/h seems way too low and, in any case, inconsistent with the behaviour observed for almost every other train.

Beyond the captivating introduction of boot-up screens for the two MFDs, most of the functionality is still missing, both in terms of train configuration and system monitoring (e.g. expended and regenerated energy).
Reversal of a few controls is also observed.

Similar observations can be made for other supposedly interactive elements.
For example, climate controls, which mysteriously seem to constitute a basic requirement for British trains, continue to be lacking on most German ones.

The result is very far, not only from the expectations associated with the future "expert" 101, but also from the existing Vectron.

This is not merely a missed opportunity (the fourth one, no less) for the Taurus itself, but also the confirmation that multiple "tiers" of simulation standards will continue to co-exist indefinitely, without any chance of preventively discerning what level will be applied to any future module.

This is a huge issue for a game which, amongst other things, supposedly should differentiate itself from its predecessor (TSC) in the aspect of consistent and cohesive standards.

tried it on any route that has highspeed operation? I mean, with BR182 I did a couple runs with IC coaches with like 200 or even 230 kmh on KWG, with no problem... can anyone else here confirm that 1116 derails at 220? that must be some weird bug, as that loco is approved for 230 kmh and in tests reached almost 300 kmh I believe

357 km/h to be honest. but it was a 1216. I don't understand how there could be any problems. Maybe a bug, like you said.

noir You were wondering how busy Wiener Neustadt woud get? This is a minute after I arrived with the CJX9 when both railjets and a S60 arrived next to the already 4 4024's and a cement train in the station that just left. Ingame time was 18:27 or so. 20240418223012_1.jpg

I don't actually want to play the grumpy side, but the Semmeringbahn is again suffering from well-known problems like the Maintalbahn and the Left Rhine route:

    - Forested mountain slopes just look bad in TSW and look like they did in the early days of TSW1. What's more, they kill performance and don't even look good. The rocky Alps, which you could still see in Vorarlberg or Salzburg-Rosenheim, are not visible here, as most of the time you only see bare green mountain slopes.

    - The vegetation has generally gotten worse again - I initially thought the opposite after the first streams - which is mainly due to the plopping festival of bushes, trees and meadows, which takes place so close to the driver's cab that it just looks terrible.

    - Likewise, especially in rural areas, the same types of buildings appear again and again, which probably date back to the TSW1 times and also have such a poor LOD value that they are always displayed distorted in the immediate vicinity. It's just not nice to look at. Likewise the general design away from the larger towns: sunken cars and buildings there, strange-looking streets here and always such familiar scenery that you feel like you're on a copy-paste route again.

The reworked Taurus, on the other hand, is well done, and the sound is particularly pleasing. There is enough AI traffic.

Unfortunately just a mediocre DLC, which unfortunately is mainly due to the route itself.

not sure... I remember in free roam when I put together a consist of like 14 IC coaches and 2x 182s as sandwich formation and it let me blast on KWG on 230... but well, will test different options on the highspeed routes :)

The only flaw I found is the awful interruption of the tracks at the end of the straight section, coming from Wiener Neustadt. I think it's the future beginning of the new variant, right?
I'd say this is a good/excellent map. We miss the Railjet and an electric locomotive... Maybe a 1044/1144?

All Eurofima wagons, pressure tight and with airconditioning are max Highspeed 200km/h... So thats the case for countries that have Eurofima in their fleet and that was mid 90s nearly every large railway country. Railjet/new NJ are 230km/h.

Free roam and the game sometimes lets you do crazy things... ok, right now I am testing on KWG, reached 227, might get closer to 230 on descent, and... nothing, it handles just fine:

DTG have finally found their groove and are delivering consistent good routes that look spectacular. Hopefully the last 3 releases are a sign of what’s to come.

Also note the huge number of freight cars present in the two yards in Wiener Neustadt, early in the morning (around 5/6 AM)!
Finally DTG has understood that yards must be filled, and at the right time of the day too :).

sorry for a bit of light spamming, but well... I just needed to test the claim that the new loco allegedly derails consistently at over 220 km/h... tested this on all three highspeed routes, havent encountered a derailment... maybe if I turned off safety systems in free roam and attempted sth like this on a track with more and tighter bends, it might happen, but then, if you attempt a curve thats barely designed for maybe half that speed at 220, you are bound to fly away :D

to be clear, I am not making fun of that claim... it might legitimately happen to some guys on some platforms or configurations, so it is still sth that the bug-fixing guys in DTG might try to look into, just in case :)

Another problem is the speed limit of some types of goods convoys: intermodal and car transporter trains should be authorized to travel at 120 km/h and not 100, like all the others.
And shouldn't they have a single traction? They're light enough.

Someone correct me please, if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure car transport trains are limited to 100 km/h when they are loaded and 120 km/h when they're empty.
