from devs discord On April 22, we will publish a major SimRail update that will add a functional ETCS level 1 and 2 system and a new route - a test track in Żmigród, where you will have the opportunity to learn how to use new functionalities. There will also be many new signal boxes - including on railway line 62, as well as numerous corrections to the errors you reported. But that's not the end of surprises! Our first DLC - Cargo Pack - will also be released on the same day. You can add it to your Steam Wishlist today so you don't miss anything!
No price shown yet on Steam though and what has happened to the improved SP game and checkpoint system? The ET22 looks nice though and providing it’s not a silly price will probably be a Day One purchase.
I assume we will get to know more about the big update in the coming days/weeks running up to the announced date just like they did last time. It was possible to test ETCS already, altho with some bugs, in SP with some file alterations. As someone that drives under ETCS on a daily basis irl I can tell you that the implementation is spot on.
It will be a replica of the original system with all the functionality you need. I mean things like being able to change the language, brightness, volume, etc. I tried it and it's very well put together. Here is a old video of me pushing the buttons: And there will be a new test track (Żmigród) where you can learn how the ETCS system works. I found a picture of what it will look like (the station is not part of the map)
The devs said on Facebook "People without DLC will see vehicles with DLC passing by but will not be able to drive them
Exactly why it needs a proper SP game. Much as I might be tempted by the new additions, I really can’t see me spending more money on this game until the SP and a related save game facility is up and running.
Well the devs communication continues to be a bit erratic. I asked on their Steam forum why there is currently no price listed against the ET22 DLC. That was two days ago and still no response. Feels like the same stonewall we had in the run up to the EA release when questions about the SP game and save function were studiously ignored. Seems to me if you don’t fit in with their very narrow vision for the game, they don’t want to know. Don’t get me wrong, not becoming anti SimRail. Just do not think it’s quite the new god of train simming we were all hoping for.
I agree. The update was promised withing 3 months, it is delayed and offers less than we expected and there is virtually no communication. I think with respect to this, we are a bit spoiled for TSW. TSW offers updates for DLC, even long after they are released. (Keep in mind the big contrast with TSC, which usually offered one update a few weeks after each release). The preview streams, the roadmap streams and the forums where at least Matt and some community managers are active.
First, 3 months have not past yet. Secondly, not all infotmation about the upcoming patch has been revealed. This time, patch, DLC and coming out of EA are close together. I prefer devs doing in silence than constant talking about nothing. I have stopped watching DTG's roadmap streams, it is useless.
There will be prev. stream on 21st April : https://discord.com/events/1067073812560093264/1226256658825478195
This was promised to be a LUA mission editor in the next update. But whether it will be in this update or just when the game goes out of early access I don't know. I also didn't get an answer about the save game and AI trains in single player mode. But they said that the shunting movements will only be available in single player mode now, this is an encouraging sign. (to make it available in multiplayer mode need to completely rework the timetable)

I think I'd rather have a better SP experience and working save game, before Solari boards, nice touch that it might be.
Has anyone seen any news about the American route (searchlight Simulation) . I have only seen a few pictures of the locomotive. It feels like over a year since we heard they were going to make it
Yes it all feels rather quiet. Vapourware? TBH at present SimRail is uninstalled here. Really no further interest in playing multiplayer. They still haven't listed the price of the cargo Pack on Steam, despite being only a week from release - which looks like it is going to be into a game still categorised at as early access and still no decent SP or save game. With respect to those who enjoy it, it's not quite the Messiah of train sims we hoped it would be.
I mean, Searchlight aren't a full time developer, they work on it in their spare time, as AFAIK most members of their group work for some of the actual Class 1 railroads in the US. Though it is odd they haven't posted anything related to Simrail since the 3d scans last year. Of course they could just be working on it in silence as well.
But at the same time, they will probably stop early access at some point and have a finished version 1.0 and then they want to show off the new things and it will be like real news. Applies to the Steam Locomotive as well as the German routes perhaps as well. so it doesn't have to be bad news if it is quit now.
Maneuvers and trains on station tracks? Your eyes are not deceiving you Hope this functionality not only in a single mission. We are waiting for the update on 04/22/2024
On 21.04.2024 at 19:00 (CEST) we will present the content for the next update and the first DLC for SimRail in different languages. Everybody is welcome and feel free to ask questions that are EXPLICITLY related to the update. I just watched the broadcast. I've never driven an ET22 locomotive, but I think it's a 100% replica of the original loco everything in the engine compartment has been modelled and works. The update will be Monday at 5pm. There will be 7 new dispatch points, test track, ETCS, shunting(single player only), Lua mission editor, new livery, steam workshop coming a bit later, and a lot of other things. It will cost 20 euros but there will be a 10% discount for the first week. ET22 will have 6 livery and 2 new freight wagons Zas,Fals. https://www.youtube.com/live/SF7cjArSdV4?si=laayhHGo3ekyRVwl&t=10875
They are working on shunting for multiplayer. But now shunting will be implimented in SP. It is the first step.
What are the hardware requirements for this sim? Do I need a superduperhypermeganuclear NASA Mars mission PC or will something more affordable be able to handle this?
In today's update you will receive a fully functional ETCS (European Train Control System) level 1 & 2, new missions with AI movement and shunting operations, as well as numerous updates.
