So for no good reason whatsoever, I decided I wanted to take all the coaches stored at Doncaster Works sidings to Peterborough using a class 43. After multiple failed attempts at shunting them all into place by, among other things, running into the "End of session" gubbins, derailing my 66 used for shunting because I threw it in notch 8 with 459 coaches attached, and the game completely crashing and not loading my save because I gave the dispatcher too much of a headache, I finally got my consist bolted together and waiting at Doncaster down goods (while holding up basically all of the ECML). As an aside, it seems you can't uncouple a 43 from its coaches or even another 43 (there's a double unit sat in Doncaster Works) which was another challenge Final consist details: Class 43, unit 43052 37 cars 1411 tons 926.9 yards Will I make it to Doncaster? Can a single 43 even pull that amount of coaches? Place your bets...
Oh wow you're determined! I trust the sand hoppers are now empty. I doubt you'll make it over the steep uphill gradients, though. Especially towards the end.
Got over the hills after Grantham and now 8 miles away from Peterborough running at a healthy 70mph on the slow lines, with oodles of Zoomers coming past me on the fast lines, which is rather amusing
Oh my word you're going to make it! We must mark 43052 with a special plaque! (I think that's the correct spelling - looks too similar to plague). What should be written on this plaque?
I did indeed make it, started shunting at 10:00 game time, and arrived around 14:35 (many pauses were had due to real life interfering) I'm currently debating whether i should attempt a hilarious reversing manoeuvre into the Peterborough sidings
Not bad I suppose, at least you went on the slow lines down stoke! I am sure someone would appreciate a plaque (I am now questioning my spelling!) to be made for their washing machine or tumble drier!
