With the upcoming release of LIRR2.0 as "LIRR Commuter" and the existing Brighton Main Line as "London Commuter" (UK), could DTG be planning on releasing other routes (including extensions of pre-existing routes) under the "Commuter" name? For example: 1. SKA: S-bahn already included and a new Koln-Aachen timetable is planned 2. Munich-Augsburg - DB BR 420 loco (TSG) is currently planned. Extensions to the S-bahn are extremely unlikely as the current route / number of services has performance issues. 3. Extension of current Dresden-Riesa route to include the much requested Airport branch?
DTG naming scheme is kinda all over the place. I think Boston-Providence was at one time intended to be called Boston Commuter too? I noticed the new LIRR Commuter name but I think it is mainly to give them a branding that easily separates it from the old version of the route.
Naverkehr Dresden I think was called Dresden Commuter internally, and Boston-Providence used to be Boston Sprinter before the TOD4 update. Personally, I don't mind the naming conventions.
Supposedly the names were to make it easier for everyone to understand, rather than have a name like Brighton Mainline or Tees valley some thing simple like London Commuter or idk Darlington commuter for example would make it easier for everyone to know where it is.
It's a pity that the Munich S-Bahn route ends at the Hackerbrücke stop. An extension of just 4 kilometers (10 minutes' drive) to München Ost, through a tunnel under the city, would completely change the gameplay experience.
Since either letter c in 'c2c' means whatever one wants it to mean, would that count? It is of course mainly a commuter route anyway.
The whole LTS system would be fantastic. You could have the entire route too as its pretty self contained, and you'd really only need one item of rolling stock... The Class 357. (Well unless you wanted to add the more recent Class 720s at a later date).
Exactly what I've been posting at every opportunity. Also, varied route patterns and a mix of all-stations and semi-fast services, and freight.
That would be great ! And with enough services during rush hours you could even follow the LZB train spacing doing its job with numerous speed drops because of the train right ahead (as per reality), to add to add some immersion to a busy S-Bahn route. That would also imply fixing the PZB on the route.
Not quite sure what the intention of the OP is here. I don't care about if the word "commuter" has to be in the title of the DLC. But if OPs asking for extensions for commuter lines or even commuter extensions for mostly non commuter DLCs, I'm all the way in for it.
Yeah that I never quite understood why it was decided to cut it off just there. In my opinion it just feels kind of awkward. Hope that DTG might look into it considering it'd add such a cool part to this route at minimal distance.
Might be due to limitations in time and resources. Tunnels and underground areas would require light baking which wouldn't be easy.
On the stream Matt explained that doing the Hauptbahnhof lower level would require a huge amount of work, as a much as the above-ground terminal did.
The video begins with the section of the railway line that interests us, München Ost - Hackerbrücke. The stops are not so huge that they require a lot of work.
I much prefer cab ride videos with the camera placed as here, so you can see the dashboard and the driver working, and not just stuck in the windscreen so all you see is the landscape ahead.
Yes, but for DTG's devs, its better to have cab videos where you can see the landscape bigger to recreate it.
the BR 420 is about to have a release date to be confirmed since TSW2, TSW5 will arrive soon and we still won't have the BR 420
Well, my wallet is ready for it. My bank account is empty, my house is gone but at least a yearly dose of new bugfixes. While I wouldn't preorder or purchase in week one, honestly the major issue isn't the money anymore for me personally. If I would get everything I wanted from DTG, I would even pay twice or triple the list price. My biggest concern is whether TSW5 could be an even bigger disappointment than TSW4 was and whether the features I really want or even need not to be in, not being in it. And yes, take that post with a bit of salt and irony, and discover by yourself what's right and what's wrong.
Anything that keeps the franchise going will get my (albeit sometimes reluctant) support. Whether that be in the form of a TSW 5 or not.
the problem here is not buying a "new" game but buying a "new" game every year, dtg could well give two years for each release and with really new features instead of the features promised in the previous tsw, e.g. , suspension improvement
If that’s the issue then it isn’t with TSW 5 but more so with DTG and how they tend to promote certain features a little prematurely. There will inevitably be a TSW 5 so if I were you, I’d swallow the bitter pill now in preparation for when it does finally come!
Valid. In what way was TSW 4 a disappointment? And how do you think TSW 5 would be a disappointment? And lastly what features do you “need” to be in TSW? Edit: format
I wouldn't enjoy the download. It is around 4x the size of my call of duty download (just mp only thats why). That is 276gb and it took at least 2-3 hours on decent internet to download the entirety of tsw. I know you can download 1 at a time, but that's still a really long time
Work load shouldnt be a reason as to not do something. Maybe don’t do certain routes if you are gonna skip bits or cut it short because its too much work.
I doubt people are going to complain that they included an extra station / ended a route at a logical end point
Because I don't care for a third of said DLC and sometimes all of them, and these "core features aren't worth 50 bucks or whatever it is... Not to mention having to wait for downloads, setup third party programs again, and rewrite mods, again...
They still have budget and time constraints. I would rather have a route rather than no route at all. It's not always possible to create everything. Create the mainline first and then add additional content if there is time and resources. It's not easy creating several km of track that is also detailed.
The most recent worst example still has to be Peak Forest. Finishing at Ambergate made little sense, whereas Derby to Chinley would be far more logical and complete. We can but dream at the thought of it going from Derby to Manchester. Sometimes I struggle to understand the decision process when DTG, or their associates, whiteboard a route project. I assume there are the desirable maximum followed by a number of fallback options should development time or resources start to fall short.
Me too, because it seems DTG's usual method of meeting targets, budgets and deadlines is 'scrap it' 'push it out unchecked' or 'let the gullible sort the bugs and errors out at their expense instead of ours?' Routes going from nowhere to somewhere else and back really serve no purpose, and it seems these are abandoned already. But then perhaps, we might see an upgraded extension at full price plus surcharge later?
Depends on the extension. Now if PFR did get the Derby to Manchester treatment, with a proper Blue Pullman unit and/or a green Class 45 that’s one I would buy without hesitation!
We'll see. DTG's market research and business decisions have surprised us before. But even after 5 years and 4 iterations of the game, there are still islands and pockets, truncated cores, and only a handful of 'complete' routes. Not forgetting to mention the patchy roster of locomotives, carriages and wagons to give the player a proper value when he desires to create consists and schedules. Some markets are better served than others, but then you get the impossible number of same locomotives and cab control cars I still find TSC, Run8, Railroader, DV much more rewarding and play worthy over the shallow, repetitive and boring back-and-fro of TSW, all those fancy buttons, levers and handles notwithstanding. And don't get me started on those 'collectibles' the most visible example DTG views TSW as a game, encouraging virtual trespassing on live railroad tracks as a gameplay element
