Hi, I recently redownloaded the Boston Sprinter DLC. I did run some services on it, but I'm scratching my head on the "Stoughton 904" service from Stoughton to Boston. The signalling system feels weird from Canton Junction, there is no train in front of mine on the map but all signals are yellow/red or red. The 2164 signal before Route 128 station is red but you can go through it without the game stopping because of a SPAD. Even the ATC/ACSES box speedometer on the CTC-3 cab car does not seem to be working properly (while it works correctly on the F40PH). That already was happening about one year ago the last time I played it, I figured it should have been a bug. But it's still present today. Did I miss something ? The services from Stoughton are unplayble.
I had an issue on the cab car where the ATC/ACSES box was frozen. Is this what happened to you? That night I just wanted to play and switched to the Acela. I didn't put much time into reproducing it. This was after driving the F40 down to Stoughton then attempting to drive back into Boston.
Ran into that very same issue yesterday on #806. Found an old thread with a solution: hit the 1 key (or 2 and back to 1) and the display will temporarily update but you have to keep doing that whenever you hear the upgrade/downgrade signal from the SDU. Simple bug that should have been addressed long ago. #904 was a very interesting run for me. Took well over an hour to complete due to the 20 mph speed restrictions in the whole way and big log jam at the end. The final station was all jammed up with a train held on my line. Had to couple up to his ass end to get the mission to progress and then uncouple when his platform was clear. Very busy and active station for a change.
Yeah I just tried again and we've all got exactly that same bug. It's a shame because otherwise I like driving from the CTC-3 cab car. Interesting about the #904, maybe it's only that service that has that much speed restrictions. I'll give a try to some other Stoughton services.
I was having the same, the only way to update the cab signals on the cab car is to switch to external view and back.
The bug regarding frozen ACSES displays was introduced on TSW4's launch. I think sending a bug report is a good idea. As for the signalling system - I have no idea.
Another possibility is that the service isn't using dispatch beyond at station stops. I dont have the timetable pulled up right now to check. Safety system bugs aside, the signals themselves are doing their job.
Thanks for your input ! I just completed the #908 Stoughton-Boston service without any signalling issue, but I had to hit the "1" key to refresh the ATC/ACSES box. So maybe the #904 has a bug, it is the only one I don't know. I'll report the ATC/ACSES box bug. I regained some interest for this DLC, I also bought the Acela Express DLC which is a very nice addition !
That is comforting. I have been avoiding Boston Sprinter because I wasn't sure. It is nice to know that the signals are working properly.
Train Sim World 4 silently introduced a new feature where pressing 1 while in the cab resets your head angle. However, doing this twice has the effect of making the seat solid. On some trains (like the CTC-3 cab car) this makes the driver-side cab door inaccessible, while on others (like the 1972 Stock on the Bakerloo Line) it shoots you into the roof. So far, there is no workaround for this bug. By resetting your head angle this way, the ACSES display updates as if you pressed 2-1. If you are willing to not use the cab door for the rest of your session, this is a valid means of updating the ACSES display whenever you hear it beep.
Just out of curiosity, could you please explain/show screenshots? Because for me it doesn't do that, at least on TSW4.
To recreate: Load up any service (preferably one where the cab is quite small. The Electrostars are a good choice, so is the CTC-3 cab car). Stand up and check that you can actually walk through the driver-side cab door. Sit back down. press 1 press 1 again stand up try and leave through the driver-side cab door. You will find the seat is actually in your way now
Ah, yeah, just reproduced that. I'm just used to assume the seat is always solid, so never paid attention to that. Also, in case of CTC-3 I still can use the "walk off" prompt on the open door.
