Now, I know you're all gonna go "ugh, another TSW5 thread, how original" but hear me out, I just want to address it. so far, as of the 29th of April, there has been no leads to the next train sim world game, nothing on steamdb, or epicdb, or any leaks whatsoever. However, it definitely isnt disproved in any way, DTG could very well make a TSW5 for this year, or the year after that. This thread, for information purposes, I will update with any leaks, steamdb content or epicdb content I know it's a boring subject, but I thought maybe I could just clear some things up. Thanks for anyone watching, or anyone that will be watching, for watching this thread. UPDATES:
I suppose new announcements will come in the roadmap next week. if there's a TSW5 at the same release time as TSW4 it's probably announced in october, august. the silence or empty roadmap may be to lead up to TSW5. I see two unannounced british routes. and one American to be released. Matt said they are throwing ideas at the wall for extending DRA somewhere. so tin foil hat tells me either that or maybe SKA timetable update is becoming TOD4 and a core route with a not very likely but possible extension. that will make the three core routes although a lot of people want to see more Austria I can imagine. Maybe some of the quiet editor projects will become the new releases as DTG saw potential and is giving them a paid DLC release for their work. In all honestly lets take off the hat and although it's possible. there are so many unfinished functions like a beta editor and suspensions. formation designer isn't working for more than 65% and apart from creators club and the scenario planner 2.0 and livery designer 2.0 also I think not being finished or in a great state. there is a big list of bugs to fix. (would expect to have someone start an excel sheet of what all is broken on each route and piece of rolling stock) I sincerely doubt TSW5 is a smart move now and with everything unfinished I see no special new features to be added that won't have a terrible effect on current routes and projects like those who want UE5. I'd say the quiet roadmap is just because we had a lot of releases this month and the one before, and there's nothing ready to announce yet for the next release. but whatever happens. I suppose we'll see in next week's roadmap.
Oh ffs. Why?!! There is CLEARLY no proof that TSW 5 is even a thing. Have you considered that DTG is busy with projects like the 380, San Bernardino, and the upcoming UK route we are getting for TSW 4? Just because there's nothing pointing to a new game so far it does NOT mean TSW 5 is coming. There are still plenty of things coming out for Train Sim World 4, and surprisingly we have some more anticipated releases coming up as well.
Maybe there is a chance of a possible train simulation game potentially with the number somewhere between 4 and 7. It is too early to confirm this, but I guarantee there is definitely maybe a possibility of this game potentially coming out.
Okay, here's a good way to 100% know if TSW5 is going to be a thing. Ready...? Wait till DTG announces TSW5. Yes yes, I know, I know, Don't trust DTG, they'll just release it suddenly out of nowhere with a slap to the face etc etc. But honestly, the repeated speculation isn't going to solve anything. You could look at a thousand little clues in the Steamdb and it still wouldn't be conclusive proof. Frankly, i dont understand the NEED to know RIGHT NOW if TSW5 will be a thing, TSW4 is going in a pretty good direction with 3rd party community projects so just enjoy that instead. TSW5 is a worry for another day, enjoy what you have right now. If you're worried about your DLCs not carrying over, well... afaik only 1 route from TSW2020 has been abandoned and left behind so that's not likely going to happen. So yes, I understand the curiosity about the 5th entry of the franchise. However, as everyone else said, there isn't any proof yet.
I mean in another thread we discussed why DTG abondened the trainsimworld.com domain. [EDIT: It's online again due to Jan's statement] Adding to that now to what you said, it's not that far off to speculate about whether something like Train Sim World 5 will even come at all. Possible options are a name change, a completely new game (just like Tram Sim) or even the worst case scenario. "We are very sorry to announce the end of the TSW franchise. Purchased products keep available in your account. The prior games won't be available to purchase anymore." And yes take that with a bit of salt. But salt is necessary, other it won't taste no good.
Maybe, the issue is is that they really need to gauge how many people are going to be willing to switch over IF none of the DLCs carry over. If users cannot bring over their DLCs, DTG would need to deliver more than 3 high quality routes that have been highly requested by the majority of the community to have people buy that game. If the new game only releases 3 mediocre routes, and you can't even bring over your previous routes... well, what's the point? People will stay on TSW4, especially now with the PC Editor. As for console, well maybe for that it might be worth but at the same time, they aswell might stay or completely leave train simming. It's a very big risk with many unknowns.
So another tsw iteration and tons of heavy new introduced bugs and broken things on existing content? No thank you..., and no money either to spend on DTGs practise.
It’s the same for every release if the past ones are any look ahead, the 3 routes then the other dlc they would be making a mistake if the routes don’t come across, though it depends on the change how much effort that is, the past changes haven’t been affecting the other dlc much at all, they’ve just been reserved features for new content.
Well, another TSW5 thread, and I wonder if we would have more TSW5 thread in future. Maybe DTG would cancel August route map, replace it with an event called DTG direct or something else, and announce TSW5 and its release date on that event. By that time, we can make a TSW6 thread, and then repeat it again on next year.
there’s quite fair whack of features that could be an iterations worth, many improvements aswell that are the same thing affecting or new. Train systems Announcements Livery editor Timetable creator Scenario editor World editor Train interior editor (license issue most likely involved here) lighting Sounds Scenery Many more
Why do some people want TSW5 when TSW4 is not the finished product yet. Better than TSW3 but still needs improvement. I certainly don’t want the job of redownloading all my massive load of content especially as l live in a slow internet environment. It takes days. DTG should get TSW4 to a perfect state and then rebrand it like they did with TSC classic. No need for annual new games.
people just want new content asap, it’s not a good thing for the game but that isn’t going to stop people wanting that.
We will definitively have an answer in the next roadmap. If there are new projets added then probably there's no TSW 5. Look at how the roadmaps were empty in June and July 2023 just before the TSW 4 announcement.
who wants tsw5? I can only speak for myself, personally, I don't want any tsw5, in my opinion dtg should do with tsw4 what it did with tsc and focus on the dlcs, I think it's absurd and an abuse to have to buy a "new" game every year to have access to new dlcs, not to mention the bugs present in tsw4 (and in tsw3, which should be what tsw4 is) I'm really exhausted and tired of this abusive practice on the part of dtg of launching a "new" game every year and forcing us to buy to have access to new content (routes, locos) and promising new features and not delivering such as: improved suspension
People can still have new content, like DTG offered with Rush Hour. I’d love to see a uk heritage route pack issued with three or four of the major heritage lines in the country, which would be great for TSW. We don’t need a new annual game, DLCs could be offered as packs etc.
true but to those that just want content and don’t care about needing to keep buying the same base game and the downsides of that, both options look like each other.
TSW 5 is not happening this soon. The DTG team is too busy porting TSW over to Unreal 5. Coming in '25 ...... TSW 5²
Can we stop with the TSW5 threads. There's enough of them out there already, why yet another. If you really want an answer, wait until summer.
TSW 5 is 100% happening the question is when? Since there's very little evidence to suggest a release this year I will say it's a 50/50 chance we get TSW 5 this year, I absolutely do not want a new game this year but yearly franchises print money and the last two years have had new releases so I think it's a possibility we should prepare for now rather than later. Last year I saved up vouchers to get TSW 4 Deluxe for £17 and if TSW 5 does exist this year then I will be doing the same, no way would I pay full price for the same game. It's funny that Voralberg (one of the core routes) has already been abandoned and no more fixes seem to be on the horizon for it, one of them bricks the timetable and yet the route is basically dead now since both Salzburg Rosenheim and Semmeringbahn are both better and have the 4024 making Voralberg almost entirely redundant if you ask me. Since DTG seems to be testing the waters with the survey question about subscription models I would not be surprised if that's the direction they will take with TSW 5, we have already seen one survey feature get added to the game (Expert Locos) so who knows what else they're planning? #FixSteam
If TSW goes into a subscription model, then I would honestly be done with this franchise. TSW doesn't need a subscription model. If TSW 5 were another paid update, this time I would wait until it inevitably goes on Gamepass
In my opinion the new TSW coming next spring, but these are just my opinions. After all, it would only be postponed by 3/4 months. From what Alex said a while ago, it would seem that everything continues as it's now, but there could be a sort of subscription for special features and contents (expert mode?).
Wasn't the proposal for a subscription service that it would be an alternative to the regular DLC model, not a replacement? See Paradox games. On the topic itself, we didn't know TSW5 was definitely coming until a French site leaked it in July, but I think the TSW4 depot had been out (under a codename) for longer than that - anyone know the precise dates?
I have no idea about that. If TSW becomes on subscription, in the near future, I hope it won't become like buying a new game every year! If it was a £10-20 year subscription I could even deal with it. Otherwise...
Yeah, it would be horrible having to buy a new subscription ever year to play the game. Hang on a minute, aren't we doing that now? Every year they bring out a newer version of the game with wonderful new features dovetail haven't delivered on while not fixing the bugs.
I really don’t want a TSW 5 unless it’s a real game changer in terms of graphics, performance and the way the game is put together e.g. no endless duplication of trains/locos. Anything iterative should otherwise be built into TSW 4. We do NOT need a new game every year.
