I would think, not this year. There was a two-year gap between TSW2 and TSW3, and we are barely starting to get third party addons for TSW4. The 4 is gonna sell well for at least one more season.
Ugh, another TSW5 thread, how original. Pointless thread that adds nothing to the gazillion other speculation threads. The answer to the post title is "nobody knows outside DTG". Hope that helps.
Releasing a TSW5 during the same time frame as MSFS2024 releases would be one hell of a (stupid) business move. And as DTG are only after getting that quick profit, they'll probably pass this year.
Hm. Guess a lot of people dont particularly like this thread I made. Hey, listen, I know TSW5 is a controversial thing, and I know there are tons of other threads out there talking about it. But that doesn't change the fact I cant make a thread on these forums, talking about it. Now, I wanna keep this thread civil, and as calm as possible, and trust me, I understand all of your frustrations or opinions about it, I'm open to them. Go ahead, fire them, I dont care. I'm going to bed, goodnight everyone. Its 11pm and I have to wake up 5am for college tomorrow
To be fair it's not like anyone is under obligation to comment, they can just ignore it but I do think there are plenty of threads now. Once there is some circumstantial evidence the conversation will be alive again.
I agree and think that a two year window for a tsw iteration is reasonable and should be accompanied by real and substantial changes, innovations and new features.
If TSW5 was happening, you'd get a new splash screen, a new UI highlight colour and would have to redownload all DLC again. Console players would have trouble for weeks again until everything works. New incompatibilities with legacy DLC and so on. Not sure what else is there to add other than that there's zero indication for that, so the thread is pretty pointless imho. Why not instead make something like "next UK route speculation"?
Yet speculation threads on routes that haven't even been announced are not pointless yet this is for some? Talk about hypocrisy
Talk about using smileys. I forgot to add "Theories about new UK routes". Didn't wan't to spoil the excitement for that "new" TSW5. TSW4 has become boring yeah... it's all a bit pointless. Hard to spot any threads of relevance in here - at least for me it is.
I know you used a emoji. What I said was a more general point not targeted at you specifically because there are those that don't have a problem with speculation threads when we don't know anything about an upcoming route but take issue with this thread
TSW5 "Enough is Enough". That sounds like a good name for a thread. I can't believe that anyone has thought of using that phrase before I think we should talk about our 'smilies'. Or the lack of them Maybe there should be a speculation thread on what the next smiley should be?
Seems you're taking it more seriously than I do - maybe that didn't come across this way. We're all a bunch of loonies spending too much time on forums, aren't we?
Not really a tell because they did the same lull in DLC thing before TSW 3 2022 and Rush Hour before that in 2021. Even of its not a new game it will at least be an update (possibly free if like Rush Hour was) and a 3 route bundle. So the lack of DLC listed on the Roadmap is the norm. Is still a coin flip in my opinion on TSW 5, or an update (paid or free) and 3 routes.
'a speculation thread' is actually an anagram of 'learned a patch is out' so maybe there's a subliminal message in there saying we should discuss things that will never be associated with a Rivet Games addon....or TSW3. "meeow" and "spooky" all in the same sentence
Slightly off at a tangent, but just watched a couple of YT clips showcasing what SCS are doing for the 1.50 update of ATS and ETS2. So many cool and new features - animated loading, graphics update, looks like particle effects for mud etc and some major map reworks. All for free presumably supported by DLC purchases (going to buy Texas later on). Can you imagine DTG giving us that as a complimentary upgrade to the core game.
I would say SCS vastly improved their core games just in the last 2 years and this even more than 10 years after initial release. All the remodellings of the cities, new core features and enhancements to the main game. And all of that without paying them a single penny for an upgrade or anything like that for them to do that. Also taken into account that the prices for ETS2 and ATS DlCs are absolutely fair, if not even lower then I would raise the tag for it. To at least give something back and because the prices are really more than just fair, I just recently bought some DLCs I probably don't have such a big use of, but just to support this developer. I simply can't do anything else. In terms of core game and DLC upgrades, SCS and DTG really couldn't be much more apart.
You're missing the point. Yes, I don't have to read them, but all they do is clog up the forums with nonsense. Also, there's more than enough TSW5 threads, there is no point in making any more as they're all clogging the forums up with nonsense.
Aside from everything else, DTG just permanently dropped the price of TSW4 by £10 - this would suggest that it will be replaced in due course. If you're planning to keep it around for a long time, you would tend to keep it at full price and rely on promotions or bundles to pull players in.
I hear ya but if people didnt respond to what you describe as ‘nonsense’ then surely the forums wouldn’t get ‘clogged’ up?
Still missing the point. Doesn't matter whether or not people respond to these threads, we just don't need yet another thread on a subject that has already been discussed to death numerous times. Also, nothing new comes out of these threads except the same thing.
Anyway, back last year there was a mentioned from Matt that the reason for the TSW4 relaunch was to implement changes that couldn't be back-filled into existing TSW 2 or 3 content. Although many have now been brought up to TSW4 standard, some haven't and some, like LIRR, have been rebuilt for TSW4. There's another option of course, if DTG are happy to simply build on the TSW4 with incremental changes hereon in then maybe we'll see an annual release with backwards compatibility a la TSC back in the day. All food for thought or needless tittle-tattle, depending on your opinion of what forums should offer.
It won't be at the top if multiple people didn't respond how "useless" the thread is, simple. For me, American content is indeed useless, you couldn't pay me to care less about SD40s, and what have you, I find threads like this much more enjoyable.
For a bit of fun and on topic to the thread which one do people think will come first Answer A: TSW5 official announcement Answer B: GTA VI Trailer 2
Thanks for the insult You could of also said nothing either but, also why are you taking my comments serious :p
No we don't, unless they put the tsw into unreal 5 or give us multiplayer, give us not promise us like Dovetail did with the suspension.
Moving to UE5 won't magically solve anything or make the game better. The game needs rebuilding from scratch to accommodate multiplayer. Fat chance of that happening any time soon.
