Seeing as a UK and now US route have been upgraded and extended it’s fair to assume a German route will be next. For me Hauptstrecke München-Augsburg is crying out for attention, both München Hbf and Passing are near lifeless with the current timetable. The S-Bahn could be up for an underground extension to München ost. Possibly an Inglostadt extension for ICE’s?
What i have heard is that this is not possible so the BR420 from TSG is also not planned at the moment and is parked for later options due to the same case.
If a Munich revamp isn’t possible (although adding the S-Bahn Stammstrecke would add some cool flavor to the route), I’d love to see Dresden-Riesa extended to Leipzig. It was already updated to TSW4 standard last year so there wouldn’t even be as much work as with the other revamped routes on the technical side of things.
I understood Matt wrong when he said something about RSN. although dissapointing I bet updating that amazing route will be a LIRR V2 level of work so fair that it's very wanted but not that doable now. Only thing I read was a lot of no more updates or support in the form of preservation crew for existing routes. He said they are "throwing ideas at the wall" for extending DRA. In my opinion to Leipzig is a lot of work but since it exists in TSC already logical. I'd personally love the Elsterwelda triangle idea mkraehe suggested the most since it brings a lot more to drive. The airport branch that was originally planned or the Dresden Friedrichsstadt - Niederwartha line would add a lot. To Pirna, Schöna or all the way to Decín seems just more of the same 4 track IC and S bahn we already have. it does support the Nachverkehr name well though. connecting to Chemnitz sounds useless as there are no connecting services. So all that's "confirmed" for german routes is the WIP Köln - Aachen timetable. The idea of doing something with DRA, so nothing concrete. Apparently MAG is on hiatus then and no idea if the 218 on Hamburg - Lubeck or the expert 101 will bring anything.
Wasn't it more of a "TSG is waiting for DTG to give them and the 420 an opportunity to be used on Munich-Augsburg since currently the route is in a LOVE quailty" situation? The timetable does not even offer place for the 420 to be used. MAG could really use an upgrade
It was because hma is unoptimized which makes adding another train not possible without causing issues. I think one of the main things using up a lot of memory is the amount of signals at munchen i believe. The 420 would also have to work on all platforms since its home route is hma. Having it only for next gen would cause a divide.
Additions to DRA and SKA would be great but I feel like there’s still potential for other routes to get an update. My second choice would be HRR with an extension to Dortmund if that’s possible.
Wasn’t it mentioned somewhere that the 218 will be placed on Hamburg Lübeck?! And wouldn’t that imply that something needs to be done to this route as well to bring it up to modern day standards?
Not really no. It depends on whether they have the time and resources to do it. Tsg is a really small team. Even if dtg could do it, it all depends on time and budget. When skyhook released the heritage pack, the original route wasn't upgraded to tsw4 standards. It would have been a lot of work for skyhook and dtg
Ok, interesting! Wasn’t aware that there were loco dlc released on old standard routes. But would that mean the 218 will only spawn into the existing timetable or would it be a new one? I am assuming the heritage pack came with a new timetable (I obviously don’t have this DLC)?
I'd personally hate to see a second timetable for the 218. I'd rather see it combined in since the 218 probably drove on different services than the rest there. I don't want more arosa timetable things. if I buy a dlc to enhance my route I'd like it to add to it, not have to pick a timetable for one loco addon but then lose the other addons.
Well, as almost all other routes to Lübeck (Lübeck-Bad Kleinen, Lübeck-Lüneburg, Lübeck-Kiel, Lübeck-Puttgarden), aren't electrified, and all of these routes have a couple of services that go from Lübeck further to Hamburg, and have been served once with a 218 (with Dostos or n-Wagen), actually, there will be a certain number of services for the 218 on this route besides the electric services that are on the route now.
I agree with the comments about Lübeck. Now that we are getting the BR 218 let’s get a route without catenary. Would be a good deal, washing the face to HBL, getting it to the standards of TSW4 and getting a length extension too ideal for one of the latest loco DLCs.
Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr is my biggest wish for a German upgrade & extension. Being able to let the BR101 stretch it's legs for close to an hour, with several intermediate stops and arguably the most interesting form of driving (<= 160 km/h with PZB). Oh my goodness
I get that. HRR was somewhat overlooked by virtue of its shortness, but it was a really good route for the time with almost Rush Hour style traffic before that was even a thing. HRR with some TLC and an extension could be fantastic.
