as far as I’m aware there hasn’t been any major changes to the route, so no kinda revamp if thats the thing your looking for, it’s probably had a post release patch (I can’t recall) not sure how much that changed, it’s not usually major changes when they come. (It’s not a route in my collection, so I can’t really say more)
I asked the other day on Rivet's own forum what were going on and Jasper's reply were essentially no news and then he just listed out the things they were committed to. I then asked for a timescale in reply to that and heard nowt back, so I would say that the route will essentially be the same as it were on release.
Rivet gave the impression an update would be made immediately or shortly after the release. Unfortunately it didn't happen, and the only thing Rivet seem to respond with when the question arises, is the same vague copy and pasted information that basically lists extra services as the main update, but no details about any scenary updates or updates for the 170 etc... Give it a miss until they pull their finger out. It had a big build up, prior to the release and then things went South when the preview was shown, and when it was released...
I believe I’ve heard they are doing an update around the summer months with an extension (don’t quote me though In case I’m wrong) though what gets updated/fixed is still em unclear regardless
Yeah, they are adding the Leven branch. But I'd take everything with a pinch of salt, they'll add it but whether it'll bring the whole route upto a decent standard is another thing... To be honest I'm looking forward to Skyhooks 158 for the route. It'll beef the whole thing up a little bit.
If they don’t improve the scenery and at least add static planes to Edinburgh Airport then that is a very huge disappointment and I’ll definitely forget buying future routes from them from now on. Some of the route just feels empty and dead…. Even the Queensferry Crossing is a joke it looks so freaking bad. Could you just imagine if Just Trains had chose to do this route….. what a shame. I just know after a couple updates it’s going to be over for this route. Hope I’m wrong but definitely not getting my hopes up.
Not really. Jasper mentioned in an announcement which is in the forums announcements page that their update would take more than a few weeks to release which means it's going to take months. So from the start, he said it would take a while
It would be nice if they could at least update us on how the update is going. Maybe something in the upcoming roadmap ??.
It should never have been released. It is not up to the same standard as Blackpool Branches, London Overground, Semmeringbahn and the new LIRR. All highly detailed and professional offerings. Hopefully when the upgrade is released it is of a worthwhile and acceptable standard. I think DTG are helping with it and if so it will certainly be a better offering. Rivet did say that they would include information in the April Roadmap but couldn’t assess it if they did!!
No it it probably won't with Rivet’s track record of not updating routes in fairness it should never of been released the state it was in
I can assure you, shortly before release Rivet said "and update will be made immediately or shortly after". If I've misunderstood what they meant I apologise in advance. But if not, the update was certainly not immediately or shortly after! The thing is, this also happened with Edinburgh to Glasgow. And what did Rivet do? Add a small update and then essentially abandon the project with all its faults. It leaves a bitter taste in customers mouths, and makes people realise it will most likely happen again. It just comes across as a shoddy in a number of ways. I do get confused when people attempt to jump in and stand up for Rivet or have this false hope they are suddenly going to be attentive overnight to suddenly taking pride in their work fixing previous projects. If anything Rivet should be communicating any valid points they have across rather then just replying with "yeah noted and past on to devs" and never sorted. And when any valid criticism is made its immediately shot down or you get banned from their forums. So as I've previously said, take the build up to these updates with a pinch of salt, it'll probably be a minor update, nothing thorough, just the bare minimum and after that it'll be left (the exception with be the Leven Branch, but what standard it's made to is anyone's guess). No disrespect to you as a person with my long winded reply, I just firmly disagree!
You are correct Jaspers post did say "We’ve heard your feedback on timetable variety and have already started work on adding the Cowdenbeath, Scottish Heritage and Railtour services - meaning 30-40 new services will be added in post-launch patches that we’ll get out as quickly as we can." https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/an-update-on-the-fife-circle-line.79952/ That was on March 22nd. But then he retracts that on the 28th "To manage expectations though, this won't be something that releases in a couple of weeks. We'll provide an update for you in April's Roadmap on the 9th." https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/an-update-on-the-fife-circle-line.79952/#post-818756
I bought it to test it out and see if it was bearable but its not and thanks to Sonys stupid refund policy of once you install it you cant refund it, im now stuck with it. People saying the 170 sounds bearable are lying. Its pain. The route is so empty why did they skip services anyway?
most likely because of "it takes up too much framerate" they couldn't even add some airport buildings or texture the runway. moving airplanes or ships is also too much processing power. but the entire Edinburg to Glasgow line is completely in with tracks and height data... With the recent release of that enhancement pack for the route I consider getting it. but if in rivets eyes we'll see the patch they put out is just some extra services that should've been in from the start after 2 months of silence. then for me it's a route I'll only get on a bundle sale of 60%. I am interested in it but not in this state. I'll rather wait for whatever else is announced next week or what has been released already and is in my list to be played.
Lucky PC players us console players have to suffer with routes atrocities unless they decide to update it
yeah I used to play console. glad after my PS4 lacking so many mods for farm sim and other games I decided to move to PC. bit more expensive hardware cost. but wow the steam sales, not paying a subscription for multiplayer and the overall better availability of mods and other programs plus being able to use a pc for more than gaming is worth it. I can scream pc master race all I want but I do feel bad for those having to wait for rivet to maybe one day actually take pride in what they release.
considered that myself a lot, I wouldn’t mind paying the PC costs at some point, I’m just hesitant on having to buy the same games/dlc for a second or third time over.
We are in May now and no further news. Disgraceful. Are they just a bunch of amateurs? I apologise if l missed it! If not, I know there is a lot of work to be done, but you would think that, after spending our money on an unfinished product, they would keep us informed.
I suppose it's really difficult to make another update because they are so busy rebuilding the entire route. well, thats of course not serious but although the lack of any comments makes sense from the negative response to the appaling near insults to the community we started with. I expect most answers will come through official roadmaps. maybe there was nothing to announce last month which is, interesting... but I expect something in next month's roadmap in a week. if there's nothing to report after 2 months I'd personally consider booting them as a third party developer because they put the quality of the DLC on average very far down. but I suppose there is communication between rivet and dtg, we just don't hear it at the moment. the promised "as soon as possible" and "in a few weeks" is taking longer than expected though, I would expect some apology or mention of that.
Jasper_Rivet is always quiet here and not answer any questions or Feedback. He need to look more into the Forum to make the Product better
The communication or lack of is the biggest issue for me(outwith the initial release state) more than it taking a long time. If they were updating us regularly with we’re fixing x & y, z can’t be changed or will be further down the line. Here’s some screenshots of improvements, here what the revised timetable will be etc. then people would see progress is being made & start to buy in to the commitment of it being delivered. This is something I think Skyhook have become very good at, showing what they’re doing even if delivery dates aren’t confirmed. I essentially purchased MML on the back of the communications, pre the big patch. Tell us what’s going on and whilst you’d absolutely still get some complaints at how long it was taking, I would think the majority would be more accepting. Whether Rivet agree or not previous DLC’s have been left in varying states of meh, with no fixes forthcoming, hence why I think they’re getting it more venomously than other developers, people don’t believe it’s going to be delivered.
agreed. I've said this a lot already. the lack of communication, not just what they are fixing. but also why some things can't be changed or even a simple "we don't have the time" after a whole month of seeing the same question every day is why there is so much speculation. every DLC there is the question from someone "why was this pulled or not included?" the community expects a lot and some promises are never delivered on without a clear answer why. I am not suprised if DTG or any of the third party developers doesn't answer here a lot because the answers will generally be only negative. I've seen a lot of positive reactions to skyhook and mostly to what Matt answers but also some interesting discussions. TSG is also a group that answers a lot. apart from that the rest is only heard of occasionally in the roadmaps. and those are sometimes a bit vague resulting in more questions than answers. and the answer to those questions, are usually found in either the release itself or very rarely in the next roadmap.
Jasper_Rivet you banned me from the Rivet forum for asking questions. l am not the only one who complains about the lack of information from you. The whole community want answers about your uncompleted work. If you bother to read this Forum, stand up and answer the community please. We all have a right to know.
jasper does not work on the routes as far as I’m aware, he’s the community manager, it’s not on him for any route or loco work, you need to address it as rivet otherwise your statement looks like it’s targeting specific staff members and even worse so one that isn’t to blame for route issues
You are right Jasper is the Rivet community manager. So he should be keeping us informed on what his team are doing. As such, it is his responsibility to keep all of Rivet’s customers informed as to their progress both in this forum as well as Rivet’s forum. That is something he is not doing. l have sent a request to Jasper and hope he gives us all an update soon, even to say Rivet are working hard on it. That would be something and better than not to hear from him.
I do feel for Rivets staff on social media who are caught in the crossfire, when it's not their fault and what my interpretation sees from this screen shot as them being left in the dark a little bit themselves... Jeez.
I'm holding off on getting it until at least the new 170 services are added, and even then I might decide to wait for a sale or until the 158 comes out. Regardless of how Fife Circle turns out after the update (which even in the best case scenario seems to be average at best) Rivet have completely lost what little respect I held for them. Not just from the glaring issues with the route itself, but from burying their head in the sand whenever someone mentions a criticism of the route. And when they do respond to criticism, it's often in an insulting and patronising way. Compare this to how Skyhook went about fixing MML. For what it's worth I thought the original release was passable, my only major gripe was the constant crashing, but they were always in the forums talking to people, and the result is a great route which in my opinion is the best modern British offering.
Same for me, im done buying their dlcs. I might pick them up after 6 - 12 months on a heavy sale. Rivet arent the only ones who have made a "learning curve".
It took Skyhook 6 months to get their update out for MML. I really wouldn’t expect to hear anything until later in the year. And that’s provided that Rivet aren’t full of BS like they have been in the past.
Trying to quickly clear some misunderstandings, this post summarizes it pretty well: I understand that this is very frustrating and trust me, I would love to have some proper news, but all I can say is that we're making progress with the updates. Hoping to have some more news at the start of the new week.
Thank you Jasper_Rivet. Good to hear Rivet are making progress and hope some of the trackside buildings are being corrected around Aberdour Station platform and Burntisland!!! Doing this right would make it a more realistic route. Not bothering will show that you just don’t care.
Jasper_Rivet all Class 385 Services should be from and going to Linlithgow and Not just Haymarket please
The conclusion here i read is, that customers are tired to report all those basic fundamental things to rivet, just to see them screw up another time because reasons involved the "L-Word".
