Thank you, I love your suggestion as well, I have seen it and it's amazing. It's always best to see more suggestions no matter if there is one already, shows DTG we want the route
I genuinely love how this route is becoming more and more relevant now that GOBLIN came out. It's rather funny to realise that we with both SEHS and GOBLIN, we've literally got Barking - Grays/Purfleet existing right in our face, but no trains to run on it....
I agree I feel like we should have a London underground route like the H & C line aswell as then that would also complete having every operator at Barking station and there's already the S7 markers on the platform
Exactly, it feels more pieced together, but it will feel like a complete puzzle if the actual route (hopefully) gets added.
I'm hoping for this route to come out. It would be nice to see a bit of Essex in TSW. A BML from the East!
Yeah, looking at how beautifully-realised Barking station is, it's just crying out for all of its services.
I was thinking this when I came through Barking this morning, a hugely busy interchange in real life but just a shell at the moment in TSW.
I worked in Barking booking office back in the 90s. It feels like the night shift all day down there in TSW. I do have a funny feeling it will happen. I think a slamdoor-era one is more likely than a modern one. Hopefully with Rivet recreating their D-stock into it's original condition for it.
For me, the release of the Suffragette line, with the section to Barking Riverside, makes the slam door era less likely. To do that would mean remodeling that scenery. Far more likely would be present day route with the 357 and 720, with 710s layering on. And hopefully one day the slam door EMUs for nostalgia rail tours.
Really hope this line is gaining traction with the powers that be and it is in the pipeline or already in build. I am biased but I think its perfect length, variety and scenery for TSW. Its time must be coming.
I’d also add Barking station is so well done and detailed that it would be criminal to put all that effort in and not take the line further.
We didn't get that level of detail in Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Glasgow Central or Liverpool Lime Street which were large, underused stations on those DLC so it did stand out to me. Especially given that DTG love a mischievous hint once in a while.
Do you have any idea of what the hint was about? Hammersmith and City, District and C2C are all options at Barking.
Good suggestion, besides its length, scenery, service diversity and rolling stock. LTS lines has some potential layers such as Javelin from SEHS, Class 710 from BKG, RHTT and railtour, which can add even more service diversity. We would also get a new, busy London terminal. If they make LTS and the quality is guarantee, it would be a day one purchase for me.
I think it may just be that whoever built Barking Station did an outstandingly thorough job and that we're reading between the lines and hoping those 357/710/720/S-stock stop boards are a hint to a future route that includes Barking. I was surprised about the amount of detail at Barking. Looking towards Upney has really made me want the full LTS/C2C. Incidentally, there's a surprising amount of world to explore at Ripple Lane. I went for a stroll around a lake to the wind turbine, though when I headed towards the Thames I fell through the earth.
They should recreate one of these routes and I am hoping it will be one of the underground routes however I would most certainly still appreciate the C2C route.
c2c have announced a mid-life refit of its Class 357 fleet: https://railway-news.com/uk-alstom-to-refurbish-c2c-class-357-fleet/ While I'd like to see this route in TSW4 soon, part of me would like it to be after the refit.
Like mentioned here , I would loveee to see this route coming! New operators and areas to explore are very very welcome! Lot of possible layers are possible, 66, 397 & 720!
c2c have announced the opening of a driver simulator academy. I wonder what tech is behind the "extremely realistic CGI" rendering the route?
Long gone are the days when you'd have to sit in a classroom learning the route from a VHS cassette. I remember when someone posted a photo of the crossrail simulator in here and convinced many that it was TSW.
I sent a mate this picture and he thought I’d was on way back from a night out in London. Shows the quality possible and always hoping this station and train is a sign the c2c route is just down the track (sorry)
Realistically, you're not going to get the Liverpool Street services until that station and Stratford are created for other lines that use them more. The Upminster to Romford branch of the Overground is an interesting one. Given that it has no connections to other Overground lines, it may as well be part of c2c; it uses the already in-game 710, and historically it was part of the LTS railway.
Bringing this thread back to the top as it is the most recent one (of several c2c suggestion threads over the past few years) that has the greatest detail in the first post on the route itself (this is not to denigrate any other suggestion threads made since). Why? Because in the July roadmap yesterday, I asked a question about the Anticipation part of the LAMPOIL process in deciding new routes, about whether quantity of suggestion threads (i.e. lots of people making their own threads on a route) or quality (depth of conversation) was more important. The answer was that they don't look at stats but do look at how much a thread is discussed and the detail on why a route is anticipated. So, in that spirit, as someone who really would like to see the c2c line in game, I'd humbly ask others who feel the same but haven't posted in this particular thread to do so. I think this would be an ideal route for TSW4, for the following reasons: It's a complete, end-to-end route from London to Southend-on-Sea, one of the newest cities in the UK It has a wide range of scenery - it starts off in the City of London, heads out through urban east London into the Essex countryside, then along the coast into Southend before terminating at Shoeburyness. Various landmarks along the way, from the Gherkin in the City, to sight of Canary Wharf and the southern end of the Olympic Park, to the view out to Southend Pier (the world's longest pleasure pier) It has a diverse range of services, as tyler#1604 set out in the first post, across 3 different routes - mainline via Basildon, and Tilbury loop via Rainham or via Ockendon - and mix of semi-fast and all-station services with different start/end stations And if Liverpool Street and Stratford ever get built in-game for future releases, you could add the services that go there too Lots of layering options (again, set out in the first post), particularly building on the huge amount of work already put in to build Barking station for the London Overground Suffragette Line release And if S7 Stock ever comes to TSW, even more layering then - especially at Barking More than one train - the mainstay of the route, the Class 357, is the first Electrostar, while the newest train is Class 720 Aventra (and in-game would presumably be adapted from the similar but differently-configured Class 710 on the Suffragette Line)
All for this. I have seen the c2c route requested so many times, amongst others, but it never seems to land. I was not aware of large demand for the Gospel Oak line ( don’t get me wrong, it’s excellent) nor ever heard of the Glossop Line before its release nor registered the clamour of calls for Peterborough to Doncaster when most wanted other sections of the ECML. I hold out hope the LTS will appear but it seems ever unlikely. in any case good to bounce this back up and for people interested to show their support.
Would also love to see this route! Has a good mix of traffic, makes use of Barking from Suffragette, will show the City of London for the first time in TSW (Victoria is in Westminster, so doesn't count!) so is very prominent, and seems to be highly anticipated An open question is how much of the route could be modelled - it's unlikely we're going to get the full 78 (correct me if wrong?) miles of route (including Grays branch) done to the level of, say, Suffragette line (i.e. highly detailed urban areas), for £29.99 RRP. Peterborough-Doncaster is long because it's a lot of fields and trees.
Can a 357 license be granted without a C2C livery being granted? From what I recall, the C2C livery is fairly plain, and a generic version probably wouldn’t be a million miles off.
I think this would be a great route due to the amount of service variation and being able to go end-to-end on the route.
I know nothing about licensing but given the effort into Barking and the use of c2c house colours and font on the signs I’d be surprised if there wasn’t something in the background. not saying it means the route is being built but anyone from c2c must be pleased with the virtual representation of Barking.
Barking Station just seems empty. There has been a lack of sales for the Suffragette line which has the connotations that it is an extremely popular route meaning that the C2C should be done through popular demand
good suggestion, love the route it would be a crime if they don't make this a reality, I'm not so sure on the network southeast emus though, it wasn't an era of British transport people enjoyed and it was probably the most hated network southeast section at the time, so I'd just stick to having 357s and 720s
I would like to suggest the 4-mile Romford to Upminster branch to come with the route, as it would bring yet another full London Overground route to the game. There would be 2 extra stations at Romford and Emerson Park. As for the 710, there could also be ECS moves between Barking and Upminster. In addition, a reskinned 387 in c2c livery would be the icing on the cake and add some more variety at little cost. I know they were withdrawn in 2022, but it would be really cool for the 387s to have a native route under catenary. DTG didn't add the AC sounds for nothing!
You're right about the Notwork Southeast (typo intentional ) era being an unpopular one, but nostalgia's a funny thing. I travelled this route a lot in the 1980s, and dammit I miss the slam-door trains, and being booted off the train at Upminster instead of going to Fenchurch Street, and the sight of Canvey Island in the rain on a February evening. I'd be up for recreating that!
Yes, ours was the worst performing operator within Network South East and anyone who commuted on the LTS in the nineties will not have happy memories. We pushed for new units but simply got every other TOC's cast-offs. During the 90s we operated Classes 302, 305, 308, 310, 312, 317 and 357. At one point in 1993 East Ham Depot had over 90 units split between 5 classes, 2 of which could only run in service within their class, it was an operational nightmare and the depot was working 24 hours a day to keep these relics in service. However, going for the 2002 era would give players two very different driving experiences in the Class 312 and 357. Getting the hang of the Class 312 would be a challenge, it would bring players a real guards' experience too, having a 312/357 combo would be night and day more interesting than a selection of slightly different "one handle wonders". Besides, we have a slam door DMU in TSW, time for a slam door EMU isn't it? It was the start of a new era in which C2C would prove what Greater Anglia also proved more recently, complete fleet replacement really does make a big difference. A period of optimism for commuters, with a tinge of nostalgia for the last of the old trains. I'd take a 357/720 combo because I want this route so much but it wouldn't be the most interesting driving experience possible for an LTS/C2C DLC.
