Amtrak SW1000R & Metroliner Cab Control Car are coming to PC this Thursday! Price: £11.99 / €13.99 / $19.99
Alright!! Loved switching with the 08, can't wait to do it with a US loco! (the cabcar seems cool too but i'm more excited about the switcher, can you tell?)
Once again, the manual is available to view at the store page. Hooray! Of course, it doesn't mention how many scenarios and sessions this new DLC adds to the original route. I'm hoping that someone who has already bought this new add-on will provide this information here. I'm asking because my interest in this DLC is strictly the switcher and I'd like to know before buying how many activities are available in the package for it. Thanks!
For the SW1000 3 scenarios and 4 services according to Steam reviews. Services ranging from 70 to 120 minutes. Couldn't find anything about the cabcar
The cabcar has 13 services, which are just short one stop runs. I think it also adds some acs-64 services aswell but not entirely sure.
You buy it and you test for 2 hours. If it does not suit you, you get a refund. We are never so well served as by ourselves.
I started a thread because I had hoped the long standing problems with the signals and ATC/ACSES on NEC would have received a fix like other routes had received when new DLC was released for those routes. Alas, I set myself up for a bit of a let down. That aside, I do like the the DLC. Very nice attention to detail in the SW1000R cab, as I have stated in other comments, being able to reposition the seat for reversing movements, window locks, etc are well done. I am sure switching cars a 5 Mph is not everyone’s cup of tea, but have enjoyed the scenarios and services I have completed. The cab car is equally well modeled. Biggest grip I have seen is the short run on the provided route which is pro typical where they run for the Keystone services from what I have heard. Another point of contention is you can not turn on the ATC/ACSES System, maybe because of the implementation problems I was hoping would have been addressed. I have enjoyed the DLC, but if you aren’t really into slow speed switching or are looking for a longer mainline run, it would be wise to either wait for a sale, or what and see if an extension where the Cab car would have longer runs.... ( again a hopefully wish on my part .... )
I am away from my system and have been since early this morning so can’t say if i have received a patch or not... my comments on ATC/ACSES was from the original release.. if a patch was released, that would be great news.
I was driving Newark (ACS64) - New York and Amfleet back. 1st run: Secausus junction limit approach 30MPH, switch off ATC / ACSES and continue to tunnel 2nd Run: The Same. 3rd Run: Secausus junction CLEAR limit 60MPH. (I was shocked) 4th Run: Secausus junction CLEAR limit 60MPH Without turning off the game, so the update could not be performed. Amfleet ATC / ACSES couldn't turn on.
That depends, I think, on what you mean by "working right". I haven't bought this DLC, but it seems to me that the TSW team has found ways to introduce some randomness into activities, so that the engineer can run the same activity more than once and encounter different situations each time. I've noticed this in regard to AI traffic as well, although I may just be a victim of wishful thinking.
The thing I noticed is that there are only 14 services for this Cabcar and every one of them is a westbound journey, can't we go the other way, or, do they go an alternative route eastbound in real life?? And, it would have been nice to have had a freeoam scenario for the Amtrak1000 just like we have for the GP38-2s in NEC, Having only just 4 services for the Switcher doesn't help, I don't have over 2 hours spare time to spend doing a service making up trains, and when you save a scenario halfway through it goes all screwy when you go back into it later on, or, the next day, which is hopeless.
They go the same way back but they don't turn around- the ACS-64 leads on the Eastbound journey. It's a push-pull service, that's what the cabcar's for.
What would you do with the trains after you built them though? Would a ai train be enabled to eventually hook up to your set of cars.
I appreciate that Sir, but, are the trains all facing the same way in real life, don't they turn them around so the cab car is facing east instead of west? It would have been nice to have driven the other way in the cabcar, to do the same journey 14 times throughout the day gets boring after a while.
We wouldn't necessarily have to move a train after we have made it up, just give us the option to freely do our own thing. Even if folks do reskins of this SW1000R we can't utilise them as ordinary switchers as we are tied in to the service modes that DTG have given us, so, you'd only be able to make up these ''named'' train consists anyway.
There was an update that allows ATC/ACSES to work on the cab car. Also. Cabcar services are supposed to go in both directions, but there was an issue with the route portals.
About the update? Check the PC updates thread. About the cabcar service I would like to know that too.
Matt said that the Keystone trains won’t spawn with the cab car leading coming from Newark. They intended for that to happen but it isn’t working.
