The second pack in Skyhook Games’ Cargo Line series arrives with a brand-new wagon and a plenty more gameplay for four existing Train Sim World routes.

Steam players can get a 10% launch discount until 16th May!

You can read the full article here: Cargo Line Vol.2 - Aggregates: Out Now! (dovetailgames.com)

Steam players can also take advantage of further savings with the Cargo Line Collection Bundle – details are further down the article.

Xbox Game Pass players can also get 10% off Train Sim World 4 Add-ons (can take 24 hours to become active on the store)

    Content Summary

Cargo Line Vol.2 - Aggregates brings further freight haulage to four busy, British Train Sim World routes, courtesy of the ubiquitous Class 66. Players will operate services in and out of yards featuring loading / unloading facilities before moving out onto the main lines through the Midlands and the South. Or work diverted trains through Kent in two separate Scenarios.

Both Train Sim World 4 and either Train Sim World Compatible: Midland Main Line or Great Western Express are required to make use of services and Scenarios in this gameplay pack, with additional Scenarios available for Southeastern Highspeed.

    The pack includes:

    • NEW HOA Bogie Hopper Wagon
    • In VTG branded, unbranded and graffitied forms
    • NEW Midland Main Line gameplay
    • 3 NEW Scenarios
    • 20+ NEW timetable services
    • UPDATED route with functioning Mountsorrel facility, HST & Class 158 improvements and scenery updates (details below).
    • NEW Great Western Express gameplay
    • 3 NEW Scenarios
    • 10+ NEW timetable services
    • NEW Southeastern Highspeed gameplay
    • 2 NEW Scenarios
    • Additional timetable services on other routes using SEHS rolling stock
    [IMG]

Across these route Add-ons Scenarios and services are centred around the loading, unloading and movement of aggregates. On Great Western Express, this makes use of the existing facilities in the game and on Midland Main Line, the yard at Mountsorrel has been updated to allow for this functionality.

The Scenarios added to Southeastern Highspeed are centred around diversions of aggregates through Medway, which can occur during planned engineering on the real-world network.

There are also 9 additional service layers for players that own London Overground Suffragette line between Gospel Oak and Ripple Lane.

You can see the full list of Scenarios and additional services in our previous article.

    Skyhook Games Gameplay Showcase

As part of this release, Skyhook Games have brought yet more updates to the Midland Main Line route Add-on, including additions and updates to the scenery, changes to EMT HST and Class 158 as well as other improvements and fixes for speed limit changes, signalling and more.

There’s also a recasting of static AI to make use of rolling stock from Blackpool Branches and Cargo Line Vol.1 - Petroleum, as well as two playable Flying Scotsman services for players that own the relevant content.

I've just purchased it and doing the first scenario (Eastleigh to Mountsorrel) and noticed one of the wagons near the loco seems to have a flat. The recognisable dunk, dunk, dunk got my attention. I must admit I've not noticed it on other DLCs before (though I may have just missed), it's a great touch and realistic as well.

They do happen on some of the wagons since TSW3 where they updated JNA's for SEHS Extended with the Armstrong's powerhouse wagon pack sounds. I think some of the other German wagons have also had sounds added as well. It's completely random as well as you can go back and play the same service / scenario and there wont be any wheel flats. Yep its a good little addition.

Everything about this is a positive.

the route feels even more alive, the whole dlc feels polished and well produced (and a million miles better than it was on release day, the fact it doesn't crash on ps5 anymore like it did on release is a huge relief!)

Real credit where it's due to skyhook for not only fixing this route but really upgrading it (if Rivet takes note of this approach then Fife Circle could be an amazing route).. MML is now a route that feels very rich and varied, so thank you Skyhook for all the hard work and effort!

i've waited until today to buy both volumes 1 & 2 of the cargo line dlc's, and it really does add quality to the route, and now with the update improvements this has gone from being the worst route in the game on release (as it was, literally, unplayable) to one of the best in game, what Skyhook have done here is really commendable!

Some pictures I captured of this pack, for anyone still 'umming' and 'ahing' about it. It really makes the Midland Mainline route feel a lot busier and more authentic, along with South Eastern Highspeed, GOBLIN and Great Western Express.

Slightly confused. Do we need this pack for scenery/signalling updates or did the update we received during the week contain all of them? The only reason I ask is because some smallish signalling issues still exist after the update a couple of days ago.

Nice addon. Especially the fact that it gives new service/layers to more than one route!

Also, nice little Easter egg of sorts in the portacabin at Mountsorrel regarding Cathcart Circle.

Really enjoying this on PS5 (it's a public holiday where I live and I was too impatient to wait for the steam release). I've been playing on GWE and in the scenarios at least there is plenty of AI traffic.

Really impressed with everything that's been added here. Stuff for 4 different routes I think. Probably the best value DLC in a long time. Probably going to get it for PC as well later.

So far, this looks excellent, and the route feels incredibly alive and busy. It was already fairly active, but feels even better.

PS5 pic below. I'd already seen an HST and 2 158s in the five mins before this HST and another 66.

I've been playing this for a while now and it's great! The route feels a lot more alive with the added cement workings and intermodal workings aswell as in general more busy with 158s/HSTs (not a part of this pack, I know) but these workings with the HOA wagons are great, a good few moves in and out of Mountsorrel and plenty going past to/from Leicester!
Overall a really good DLC, definitely worth the money and I can't wait to see if there will be another pack like this in the future! :D

This is now one of my favorite routes on TSW4. With the pc scenery mod and the one Skyhook has given us, the area around the tracks looks amazing. The new trains are fun to drive.

A bit of double headed action introduced with Aggregates Vol. 2 pack. This service is 6O94 on the GOBLIN route.

NOTE: Due to an issue with Rivet's 66s included in their engineering pack, this service will NOT work as their 66s are not compatible with DTG's and SHG's 66s. You will need to restart the service until a non-Rivet 66 (non-DRS or non-ONE 66) spawns in. Rivet's 66s do not allow multi with other 66s and will not allow brake release, so you'll be stuck. This is something Rivet will need to fix with their 66s.

Rivet also botched the 4 small selectors on 1 cab side on their 66s. They are only movable in one of the cabs.

Kind of frustrating, they take a working locomotive with many complex features, build the coupling adapter + repaint and botch the entire loco somehow.

Im already annoyied by hearing the name Rivet so i have to stop here ;).

×××The one thing is sure is that im done once and for all permanently wont ever buy anything anymore of this Company.

Nice work, but US $ price is too high. Should be about $12.50 in line with the current exchange rate.

I bought both cargo line packs together and they do add a lot to MML, especially Volume 2. I haven’t checked out the other routes with them yet but plenty to look forward to. The Class 66 is now becoming one of my most driven locos in the game. I have made a note not to buy the one made by Rivet as it is one thing having a bad loco but having it spoil other content by spawning in due to substitution is certainly something I am keen to avoid. I’m also replaying previously played services with the other trains in MML as having the freight services alongside them changes them a fair bit. Very happy with my purchase.

One thing I don’t like on MML is those white flowers growing out of the ground as you get closer to them. They are more noticeable in this route than others that use them and even more so with slower freight services.

    And Swiss customers.

Price on PlayStation = CHF 11.90. On Steam CHF16.79. For the same pack. It’s getting beyond a joke having to pay steams inflated prices.

Well the MML has certainly come alive with this pack! I just sat at East Midlands Parkway watching all the comings and goings, I even decided to have the real life rail announcements website playing in the background, OK, timetable doesn't match but was quite enjoyable, especially hearing delays and cancellations.

One gripe I do have, I think the sounds of the freight are quite low? Hopefully ItsYa165 may come along and make some adjustments to make them louder

a good thing for this is if you have an external DAC like Sound BlasterX G6 (thats the one I got) - the software that you use to set stuff up has several modes :) I either use a custom preset I made called Train Sim World which brings the general volume up plus surround, or Scout mode that brings out "background noises" that can sometimes be too silent, great for stuff like this :) granted, it is not a cheap thingie, but worth it :)

I think it’s fine for AI. It’s just driver playable services which won’t work with Rivet’s 66 double headed.

Lovely screenshots, I think I'll be buying the pack tomorrow as it does add a lot to the route by the looks of it. Just to check are the intermodal workings actually part of the MML timetable, or were they in a scenario? I've had a busy week, so haven't really had a chance to try the route since the update.

The intermodal workings are in the MML timetable however are unfortunately only AI driven.. unless you can only drive them using the GWE 66, I did notice it was always either the GWE or ECW 66 used when I passed them.
So yeah, intermodals are only AI, the cement workings are drivable by the player though at least!

The Intermodals are part of the timetable (One passed through Loughborough about 9pm) but yeah I think they are just AI as they aren't available to choose on the timetable options

Thanks both, if I am honest driving a freight train is something I don't particularly enjoy, not sure why (though the 66 don't help), and I am much happier with people behind me, so would only be buying the aggregates pack for AI purposes. Saying that give me a 56 or some 37s on freight and I'd be on it like nothing else!

Normally I'm a passenger man as well but the freight runs are pretty interesting, some off Humberstone Road, some going around the back at Leicester. Obviously in and out of Mountsorrel plus shunting moves there. It's pretty interesting.

Interesting, thanks Marc, I may well give them a go as I do suppose they are a bit different. Like I say I'm not keen on the 66 either but we'll see what it is like.

I have treally enjoyed plaing CL 1 & 2 and agree that they really add to the route now its had its 2nd update.
    Hopefully Cargo Line 3 & 4 :)
I know some will find them too linear, cash grab (really, no one forces them to buy them lol but hey ho). I like how they are doing them and would love to see more.

If there is a third one then IMHO that really does need to come with a new loco type, even if it means a slightly longer production cycle.

I'd love to see Toton yard get fully modelled.. I stayed on my 66 once the AI took over and the track there is all laid out but no buildings in sight (though I swear I remember there being buildings there in the past), and almost all signals are blocks with just the lens texture on them - which does work, the light does change from red to amber but yeah.. no actual signals, just the light texture....

If Toton yard was the get modelled, it would be more than a good opportunity to finally add a 60, and maybe some light loco moves to and from there, going all over the map - to/from Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, maybe even some moves to and from Mountsorrel! It could also add some rescue scenarios; if a freighter had failed, and we would then have to go light out of Toton to connect to it and drag it back! ;)

Do things actually go there in real life? I always thought the small bit of track laid there in game was just fictional to allow us to have a look around if we wanted to?

Could you use a VPN to gain access to Steam products at UK prices? Of course, you'd be hit with CC charges for currency conversion, which might negate any benefit, even if it were possible.

No, no, not worth it for a few dollars, although after 15+ years and hundreds of dlc it probably has added up to a tiny fortune. No, my point is that someone's making more money off of US sales than they should be.

It's usually the other way round. We pay dollar prices in pounds.

That would make it a loco dlc and more expensive. That's not the point of a gameplay pack. Maybe new wagons but not a new loco

Don't at all see why that means it can't become a loco pack by including a new loco.

These gameplay packs aren't much cheaper than a loco DLC anyways. Or if you buy both, much cheaper than the routes were before the prices were hiked, for that matter. I mean, it is good to have new rolling stock (especially if you can load/unload them), and new timetable/scenarios for them. And it's been a pleasant surprise to see Skyhook keeping on updating the Midland route, respect to them for that.

But for 24 euros? I'd have to say no thanks for now. Like they say, "I don't have to buy them", but I probably would if they were a bit cheaper. Especially since I own only one of the routes (GWE) so I wouldn't even get all my moneys worth without buying Midland as well.

Well, I got it earlier, I did try a freight run and in fairness it weren't too bad, but I must say they really do add a lot to the route in terms of AI and, dare I say, make this feel one of the closest to life routes in game. Good work Skyhook, look forward to more. Just needs a Meridian...
