Unless they start streaming in real time day cycles and weather data like msfs does or the bus, don't think much would change. There's always going to be inaccuracies if they don't use real time data otherwise it would just really too much time to manually set each day cycle based on region and season
They just need to adjust for daylight savings time. That's the only issue. Otherwise, the sunlight and times are accurate to the real locations. They even included last month's eclipse in the U.S.
It should be like that. It's a simulator. Why is this not used? It sounds very future proof to implement. It's not like the earth will speed up a significant amount in our lifetimes.
I seriously doubt you would need to stream this kind of stuff from the cloud as it's all predictable and easy to calculate. This whole thing is just a matter of DTG fixing up their math calculations.
Daylight saving time starts and ends at different times in Europe and US so a compromise date would need to be set for when it applies but in theory it shouldn’t be too much trouble to add it to the summer months.
This is further proof that the time of day in game is shifted back by ~2 hours. Perhaps shifting 2 hours ahead will cure the patient. At least it will be more realistic.
Exactly. It seems the clock is always displaying UTC/GMT for german routes, when it should be UTC/GMT+2 in summer. Likely the routes have not been set up correctly in the editor (I've read about that it's a bit confusing how the timezones are handled...)
It is shifted as the clock is displaying the wrong time. Daylight length should be ok, but it's shifted into the morning. Earlier sunrise therefore earlier sunset. That's why stations appear dark in the evening - the lights are switched on at the correct time but the sun just sets too early. Very noticeable at Lindau. As eldomtom2 said, all you need is latitude, date and timezone. Timezone is where they got it wrong. Should be an easy fix theoretically. The game has a World and a Local Time, so timetables shouldn't be affected by a fix, but you never know....
Shifting into and out of summer time twice a year could play havoc with the timetable, already rather fragile around midnight.
It's just a day cycle adjustments. No one will touch global time. So nothing will happen with timetable. It's about a sun position in the sky.
So, rise the topic, cause TSW5 is coming, and I presume without any fixes. Over and over again we will have night at 20:00 in June, no platform/building lights after sunset. It seems to me that the person who created the schedule for turning on the lights was looking at the daily cycle of the real world, while the person who created the daily cycle doesn't looking at any.
They have all that data already easily accessable. I can tell you the sun will rise at 5:26 am and set at 8:45pm on Aug 3rd 2031. Its all here so I'm pretty sure a spreadsheet can be found and entered. It is simple data entry for that. Pick the major city on the route and go with that. https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/uk/london?month=8&year=2031
As far as I know, the sunrise and sunset times are spot-on except for one thing, which is that it doesn't change between summer and winter time. So things will either line up in Winter and then happen 1 hour early in Summer or the other way around. It's so annoying that it hasn't been fixed after so long.
