Just wondering. I've been eyeing up the dlc for awhile so will pick it up soonish if the price of it is going to be increased.
Unlikely. The only thing that’ll increase will be the money you spend if you decide to buy Cathcart and the 380 at the same time.
I think (although don't quote me I'm not entirely sure) it's a free upgrade to the route. Unless you don't already have it.
Even without buying the 380, which I may do if it gets reasonable reviews despite my dislike of letterbox one handle things, the refresh will make Cathcart well worth visiting.
Cathcart Circle is a decent looking route that has suffered from lack of variety but it's definitely worth getting before the upgrade, give a whirl and get used to the 314, then you get the upgrade for free and the 380 will be regular price when released.
Well, yes and no. The current lighting is actually pretty awful with stations in darkness even at night time. Little or no ambient light from big city street lamps and buildings. The run around the circle can get a bit tiresome, very much start/stop with most stations less than a mile apart. The lines out to Newton and Neilston are slightly better in that respect. The biggest problem, which still may persist after the update, is the nearly empty Glasgow Central station. In reality it would be alive with all manner of trains to all sorts of destinations.
Yes, I haven't touched Cathcart for a long time because of these reasons. But I'll give it a whirl when the upgraded lighting shows up, mainly to see if the night lighting makes it playable which currently it doesn't.
Take a look at the last roadmap stream - during that, Alex showed some screenshots - one of them is a comparison shot, before and after, of Glasgow central station in map view. Don't think there were any roads left unused. Matt.
That's encouraging, though we won't be seeing Pendolinos, Voyagers or Class 156's (just yet anyway ).
Matt will you also be adding more Scenario Paths to the route when it gets upgraded? That's one other way to make the route busier and more entertaining.
All lighting in the route is being upgraded with the addition of new city/ambient lighting. No more total darkness in the route where there should be light.
The route is currently on sale at £12.50 on the Green Man Gaming site. So if you really want to try it.....
Well then, thank you for that info. I've got to full up my car's tank to get to a few places over the next couple of weeks (petrol is very expensive over here in NZ) and I've got to get a new Warrent of Fitness (WoF) for it in a few months, so that is very welcome news.
This might tempt me to get the 380 even though it’s a bit of an ugly duckling, but with the upgrade to a route I already own then it’s going to seem almost a new route, especially with all the extra traffic. Routes are so much better with multiple train types running. Brings the route to life and adds an element of unpredictability about what you see next. I believe the 380 is coming to Edinburgh Glasgow Express too? In which case it will be helping to reduce two routes from monotony!
My school of thinking. Yes it's another one handled letterbox window EMU and the TSC version was rather unimpressive but if £12 for a train add on funds a significant route makeover that otherwise wouldn't get done... And yes I know the counterpoint is that the route should have been built more carefully in the first place, we are where we are with that one.
You take that back! I'm very excited for this release! Fresh timetable and lighting will definitely make this route and all time fav with alot of people! Plus I love the class 380 and can't wait for it to come out! It's my local train and I've always wanted it in the game so I sincerely hope dtg do it justice! And I have faith they will! (I'm just glad dtg got to it before rivet)
Out of curiosity, will the route be getting any additional bits and bobs like a working board at Central Station or upgraded scenery in some areas? The lack of DOO Monitors and PIS boards at Crosshill still drive me mad when they are present in reality. Crosshill is only a short bus journey away from me in reality so I'd be more than happy to take reference photos next time I'm on the Circle line.
I'll talk to gameplay team and see what their plan is there and adjust accordingly, adding paths is relatively easy. Have seen this in a screenshot so yes. Matt.
Don't tell everyone it's easy I've been getting brownie points for playing about with GOBLIN and EDN/GLA paths using the public editor. Should have some mods ready soon
I will likely get it as the additional unit will make CC come alive along with the general upgrade. The 380 deffo needs some lipstick though lol.
It seems to me that, since station departure boards became a reality on Vorarlberg, it should be possible/is highly desirable to do them in all main stations on new routes and those getting overhauls. This has always been a pet peeve of mine:
Can't confirm any specifics regarding new bits and scenery but Crosshill station has had the missing PIS and monitors added along with other improvements.
Great news, thanks. " Let there be light. And there was light.......And it was good." ( Genesis ). Next up should be BCC and Glossop and all upcoming routes. Please and thank you in advance.
I have no problem with the price of Cathcart circle going up to pay for all the work that has gone into these improvements. I would still be happy if the price went up AND the updates were only available for those people (like myself) who will buy the absolutely brilliant and highly anticipated new improved TSW5 when it comes out. Hoping that glorious event happens sooner rather than later. Too true! Genesis did have an amazing laser light show at their concerts. Did you know that their drummer was a highly trained monkey who went on to have a spectacularly successful solo career?
Their drummer was a self obsessed narcissist who turned one of the best early prog rock bands into a jazz/blues/funk travesty!
I’m not sure if Matt or anyone will see this but I believe back in 2019 was the first year LNER ran training ECS runs between Edinburgh in Glasgow usually arriving at 13:15 and leaving back east at 13:45 it would be quite a nice little touch to see!
