Because it matters for a lot of things Union Workeshop chose to make the line from Tadami to Aizu-Wakamatsu But in 2011 due to big flooding in the region the line was partly destroyed between Tadami and Aizu-Kawaguchi. JR East didn't wanted to rebuild the line because of the very low ridership (Sometimes 8 peoples per day). After some years the local governements and JR East agreed to reopen the line by separating the charges and responsabilities (The governements maintained the tracks, the stations and the crossings while JR East was in charge of the trains) Here's an interesting video about it : The line finally reopened in October 2022 with bridges repaired ect. But the trains are not the same between 2011 and 2022 ! In 2011 it was the Kiha40-500 that was on the Tadami Line : It was withdrawn from service in July 2020. And his replacements are the Kiha 100 Series : It was built between 1989 and 1999 in Niigata And the more modern Kiha E120: Built in 2008, in the same factory (If I'm not wrong) as the Kiha 100 I would personnaly like a Tadami Line set in the present because I like the look of the Kiha E120 a lot
Whichever they choose will be distinctive to what we’re used to, and another unit can be added as dlc maybe. Is there any freight on this line?
I believe UW have asked on social media about Kiha 40 training materials, so it looks like that's what we're getting. No.
Most likely similar to the same route as the TSC version, since they already have the references avaliable on hand for both the route and the Kiha 40. They may also include the same 3 liveries from the TSC version, though I believe one is supposed to be on the similar Kiha 48.
Have to agree with you on that. I’d definitely prefer something modern, rather than an old banger to drive.
My hopes are very high for the kiha40. Modern MUs are fun with a speed of 70-90mph yes, but on a 40mph line i rather prefere an old unit with a bit action and rattle.
