Thanks Jetwash, I was giving the new drivers a miss as there didn’t seem to be anything useful in the release notes, but I’ll give the a try (there is an even newer version 522.44 now).

The new screenshots look amazing.

DTG Matt Sorry to ping you but I assume you’re aware of this? I believe this is something you’ve been looking at and there look to have been some changes to me, perhaps to shaders etc in the game itself, but things are unquestionably smoother with these latest Nvidia drivers. Whether it’s the game, the drivers or indeed both I don’t know, but the end result seems to be a good improvement.

Sorry but on my system no "big changes" or something special. Maybe you have update windows to a newer version lately? It could be that there are some changes to the systems. I'm Beta tester in Windows.

 

Hey. I didn’t say there were ‘big changes’, and to be honest I haven’t updated windows in ages. I said the game is running smoother than it has in a long long time, and it doing so coincided with the last game update and me updating my GPU driver to 552.22

I’m not the only one to see it, so believe it to be a genuine improvement. As everyone has the game update and is using this mod it makes sense to also update your GPU drivers if you haven’t done it for a while. In doing so I’d hope you’ll see the same results that I’ve seen.

 

Okay very clear how long ago did you made your'e last update before version 22? I mean its always the best to update Youre driver every 6 months at least.

You written other people have noticed the same.... Im always a little carefully if you tell people such things the effect will occur that people will see things thats not a result of the thing that you see... "Oh yeah now you talking about i see the same".... Its very known issue in gaming land But yeah it can bring an improvement if you update your'e driver. Those drivers are not for fun and a large group of users are scared and have bad opinions but expect for example that COD run smooth as butter but they forget that a update is needed.

 

I keep them pretty much up-to-date. I’d maybe missed one but other than that they were the latest versions.

Think of it this way, I did the update so others didn’t have to If I update and it’s no good I roll back. I take your point about confirmation bias but all I can say is that right now, with DX12, the current game version, 552.22 and this mod the game (being TSW4) has never looked better or run smoother.

 

Very clear! There is a newer version (522.44) at the moment... That is a release from this month. The 22 is from April.

 

I must literally have missed it by a day or two. Will update to it tomorrow. If it’s not as smooth I’ll let you know.

I’d meant to make a correction to one of the lines that improves the overall look of the scene but as it was caused the PIS, GSM-R & some screens to fade-in. I thought I’d done it but I hadn’t. It’s a very small change in value - 0.1 - but it fixes the issue.

 

Thanks again Jetwash. I bought Harlem some time ago in a sale and it got quickly abandoned as for me,it suffered a lot from stuttering and pop in of scenery. I reinstalled it last night and played a scenario and it ran and looked a lot better. The evening lighting in particular seems to be much improved.

Let me know how Harlem Line is. It looked good to me, and when you apply the changes to the default route and hit ‘go’ it looks vastly better, but ultimately it’s a TOD3 route so the options are limited

 

Not sure if it's intentional, but zoomier zoom was off on Harlem line by default. Great job though, another great looking route in my collection.

 

I have a general question. I was using the Steam fps display, but since I have loaded God Mode and these light updates, it no longer displays. I have confirmed it is turned on it Steam. Any thoughts JetWash.

That’s one of the many bugs on SEHS, nothing to do with me I’m afraid (because if it was, I’d fix it)

 

This is my setup in Steam, but the counter is not there in game.

 

Has your game reverted to windowed mode or something silly like that? I’ve got 3 different fps counters I use and they’re all fine

 

Windowed Full screen is what its set to. Interesting, I put it back to full screen and the counter showed up, back to windowed full screen and it is still showing.

 

If you download the latest version of the Fife Circle EP you may find a little treat is now available in free roam. It will come to the Fife Timetable in an update at some point in the nearish future.

 

Thanks for letting me know - unfortunately I'm on PS4 so no way (AFAIK) to install the EP. Is the livery in a format that it could be easily uploaded to creators club please? No worries if not - I'm not sure how these things work.

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about the headlights and taillights being on at the same time!

 

Does version 4.6.1 included changes for all supported routes? I primarily only run Antelope Valley and just wondering if I’d see any changes or if this latest version is route specific.

 

The Ultra preset does definitely. Whilst there were some changes to some routes in the other presets (particularly MML, Fife Circle, Harlem & LIRR2) there was nothing of note for Antelope Valley. HTH.

Just wondering which NVidia card you are using. I have the GeForce RTX 3070 and running driver 552.44. which I think is the latest for this card. Am getting very good performance in game.

 

FWIW although I found 522.44 to be good, for me at least 552.22 is a better experience, and the one I was on when I mentioned it. I find it almost flawless, whereas with the latest one I do get some hitching. I’ve no idea why, or what is different between the two. Obviously everyone’s experience will be different depending on their card.

 

RTX4070 - a notable improvement. I also have Samsung Odyssey G7 monitor and the update seems to have finally fixed the screen flicker / detecting source issue. Google it if you don’t know what I mean!

 

It’s actually smoother using ultra rather than high strangely enough.

Yes, I agree, that's why I plan to upgrade my whole pc come the fall. This current one is 2.5 years old now.

Indeed. When I suggested updating 552.22 was the latest driver I had, and I hadn’t had a notice to update again so had assumed that was the latest.

As was discussed further up the thread, I then updated to 552.44 and found it to be not as smooth as .22 so I rolled back to that one.

If you’re finding .44 is good for you then stick with it. It wasn’t bad for me, just that .22 is the best experience I’ve had regarding smoothness in TSW.

OK, JetWash, I have reverted back to .22 and will see, later today, how it runs.

 

I am not seeing a whole lot of difference between .22 and .44 drivers. I do have a question on the full screen setting in TSW. It isn't really full screen but a 4 x 3 rendition that takes up the middle of my 32" monitor. Is there any way, in this screen setting to get the picture to fill my monitor screen? I have played with the settings to no avail.
