Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 9:00 PM BST on Friday, May 17th 2024 and will be judged by me - cscarpenter In the event of this weeks winner not responding by 5:00 PM BST Sunday, May 19th, a new thread will be created using the theme with the highest votes in this weeks poll. Theme for this week : "Diesel Powered" Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. Good luck to all, but most importantly, remember to have fun.
The iconic Santa Fe Super Chief is running on time and at track speed through the Southern Nevada desert. While the hand of a 25 year Santa Fe veteran is on the throttle of these F3s, passengers are filtering into the dining car for a champagne dinner of charcoal broiled sirloin steak, baked potato, salad, and desert all for $7.90. Then it will be time for a few after dinner cocktails in the lounge and chatting with fellow passengers while the porter readies rooms for their last night on board. The setting sun is casting an orange glow hinting at the prospects of clear weather upon arrival in San Diego. The passengers will be gently lulled to sleep by the gentle swaying of the coaches. Back in a time when getting there was half the fun.
A great view the engineer's seat of Utah Belt AC4400CW #3629 as it leads slow coal drag of 70,100 ton loaded coal hoppers up the canyon towards Helper. The light playing on canyon walls can accentuate the beautiful colors of of earth and foliage. The Harris box is showing current locomotive status as all good. American diesel locomotives are a tough breed.

70017 awaiting the road out of Earles Sidings with a cement train on a sunny day in the Hope Valley. Not much love for the 70 as it is, its sounds are poor along with its physics, we are long overdue a loco EP & the 70 would benefit greatly from some love.

What a brilliant selection of the diesels operating with power on the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railway! Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe GE U28CG '353' followed by '350' and '358' unseen in this shot make an unusual form of motive power for the westbound El Capitan passenger servicing climbing the Raton Pass of the United States of America on a state border crossing run from Trinidad to Raton, crossing over from Colorado to New Mexico on a Summers day of 1967. Despite Germany having multiple examples of modern electric traction; diesels still find themselves useful! Into the late 1950s and early 1960s; diesel powered locomotives continued increasing in numbers across the rail network of the United Kingdom forcing many steam locomotives to shunting and branch line services with the diesels slowly taking over the mainline trains. Here we see this exact situation taking place in the fictional British location of Setterfield; where British Railways Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 '44839' is rusting away and limited to shunting duties in the yard with a mainline freight service hauled by two diesel powered British Railways Class 37s passing through on a Winters morning.
