Why is it taking DTG over 30 days to release an initial patch for this route? Tennessee Pass already has a patch and it was released later than FRC Extended. In the past patches were released within the first 2 weeks of release and sometimes within the first week. Is this the new normal?
1. Is it in need of a patch? 2. This route was a co-build with High Iron Simulations, so I guess coordinating between the two parties may lengthen the process over a single-party producer.
Ask HIS, he is the man in charge over where everything is beautiful, wonderful and amazing to go by the hyperlatives.
Every item of DLC has faults, errors and omissions. Whether the need a patch will depend on many things.
Look at: The snow textures on the “GP9” Snow textures at James The embankment immediately west of Clio trestle (or everywhere, they are far and away the worst part about the route) The signals on the far eastern end of the route The bridge at Quincy Junction The lack of trees in parts of the canyon itself (due to recent firescars, which weren’t there in the 70s) GP40-2 Mars, class, and number lights The back of the cab of the zephyr SWx (look at a real photo) +dozens of realism errors And then tell me a patch is not needed. I haven’t touched a single one of the included locos but the GP40-2, and seeing what I found there I imagine the other locos also have numerous bugs.
One glaring error are the switch stanchion colors are reversed. There are several other routes with this issue. Donner pass, Older version of Feather River Canyon, both Soldier Summits, there may be more. Should be Green for straight and red for diverging. There is a patch at RWA to correct this. https://railworksamerica.com/index....witch-target-fix&catid=23:miscellaneous-files This patch can be used on other routes as well that have red/green targets with this type of stanchion. Suggestion, path these to the .ap instead of applying inside the .ap so they do not get overwritten. One of the things that happen when things are copy and pasted.
a glaring error repeated so many times (by perhaps the same crew) one wonders about their commitment to Qualify Assurance, since everything they release is beyond reproach, beautiful, wonderful and amazing to go by the hyperlatives? Then there is RGB pure white headlights, the same old Kuju sounds, horns and bells re-used over and over again, the same old trees and structures, road vehicles ... Compared tot the UK and Germany section, USA is very much poorly off by DTG's releases ver the past couple of years. And now there seems to be this trend building of selling 'improved' routes anew, with many of the aforementioned faults still present. Searchlight Simulations, Diesel Workshop and MachineRail, Reppo have shown it can be done differently and better.
You sir are like a dog on a pants leg. Every DLC has some kind of issue, mainly because everyone expects something different, and to call out one developer as mediocre and continually debase is ludicrous especially when there are a few others that could be put in the same category. Even if it didn't meet your expectations of the hype it still is a good route and I am happy with it.
Here's a minor patch - not official, but would be a start if you want to improve the route. You need CentralJerseyRailfan's EMD 567 sounds and Krellnuts Freight Car sounds as well. https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...is-feather-river-canyon-patches#comment-14790
This is not a DTG route. This is your answer in a nutshell. It's up to the route's developer to do any patches, and to be honest, I'm not confident they will or that they will fix what actually needs fixing (and I don't know what, I'm not currently in ownership of it nor playing it in any other fashion). But maybe I will be proven wrong on a patch occurring..
This route was released through DTG. The patch has been sent to DTG. All patches must go through DTG QA before release on the Steam platform in order to update the DLC in the store. The exception is when a developer releases directly through Steam and not a 3rd party. BTW been down 49 many times through Placerville when I lived in Grass Valley/Nevada City. Have you been to Railtown?
Oh, I see now. DTG is one of the listed developers. I think that is because of the original FWC route (00000062). Otherwise, it would only be attributed to HIS. And the point I was making is that third parties don't always issue patches, and DTG doesn't always review them. For an initial patch, however, they might, but beyond that I doubt they will look for any further.
Overall I've been happy with FRCE, but a couple of obvious errors that should be fixed in a patch: GE U30 -- the Dial Textures are broken when the gauges are lit EMD GP35 BN - Conductor Window (left) wiper doesn't work, only a problem if you want to look out the window in the rain. Aha, that is one of the included scenarios
The patch is out today! The increased size of 600 MB is due to the old MainContent.ap being accidentally included in the new one as "MainContent.apold". Harmless, but waste of space.
Gary Dolzall (HIS), Rick Grout (G-TraX) and Michael Stephan (GreatNortherner) are now official TSW developers. It's that TroubleShootingWorld I don't touch anymore except for checking my mods after updates...
Except that they've said they aren't going to stop developing content for TSC. From recent comments, there is a route in production and sounds like a retro pack as well. That said, bugs with the route after patch still include: The snow textures on the “GP9” Snow textures at James The bridge at Quincy Junction The lack of trees in parts of the canyon itself (due to recent firescars, which weren’t there in the 70s) GP40-2 Mars, class, and number lights The back of the cab of the zephyr SWx (look at a real photo) +dozens of realism errors
I honestly wouldn't know. I can only take the word of others here until it's released. Those other upcoming items could very well be the last, or just a start to more. We will see.
Maybe scenario packs. But knowing how time consuming TSW development is, I can hardly imagine them doing any more TSC routes.
I honestly do know and there is a route under development as we speak. The word of others whoever the heck that is is incorrect.
No. We don't have to take the word of random strangers. It's a good idea not to repeat things - especially if potentially upsetting - unless you can be reasonably sure they're true.
How about don't comment if you don't know. Not that I have to explain but I spoke with one of the principals before I made my post.
If one person passes a comment and another contradicts it then if you don't know the actual answer it is better not to speculate.
Facts and data. If you don’t know then best pass of course. Not like anyone would nit pick on this forum!
It shows nothing of the sort. More gibberish on this forum based on nothing. It so happens I know all of the principals involved.
To stop doing you! Cyclone I'm not having a dig but you always run awry with speculation and continually post your musings in such a way you give the impression they are fact, you wonder why people are hostile towards you here and on Discord and any other place you post, we'll here it is, the definitive reason. All you need to do to prevent further clashes and contention with other members is to fact check what you post and to not post what you cannot verify, it really is that simple mate.
Please - somehow all US related threads bear a high risk of being closed. Buzz has state Mike and Rick are still doing TS stuff - which is great imho. Whoever runs RWA is not of interest here. Can we leave it at that?
That seems like specious reasoning. But then again, maybe the bear patrol is effective after all. What's going on here that runs the risk of someone closing the thread? It's a perfectly civilized, if somewhat nonsensical (it is the internet after all) discussion. Are we talking about the hostile takeover of Railworks Australia by a kabal of krazy kangaroos here? I think we should be if not.
Feather Canyon Enhanced = High Iron Simulations RWA <> High Iron Simulations Why are we even talking about RWA in the Feather Canyon Enhancement thread? I seem to spend most of my time confused in this Forum. Can we please, please, please keep on topic. Open a new thread if need be. Respectfully
High Iron Simulations were partnered with DTG in making the enhanced Feather River route, so that's why they are being discussed. I have no idea why we're talking about Railworks America, Australia or Azkaban as to my knowledge none of those entities were involved in the creation of this add-on.
I'm starting to get the feeling that RWA and HIS are very heavily intertwined nowadays. Which might explain why RWA seems to not be updated on the site end as much as it is on the "people creating stuff" end. Don't get me wrong, it's good that people are creating stuff, and I intend to look at some of that stuff at some point. But the site front-end doesn't seem to have had updates in eons. It makes the site look...dated. Which was a common complaint about UKTS referring to WLoS as a "new product" even in 2023 before it closed; no new articles ever got posted.. All I'm doing is sharing what I've heard and looking for further information to corroborate or disprove it. Ever heard of the "media"? They get things wrong, too. I'm doing nothing different, though unfortunately in my case I don't have a direct line with "the principals involved" in this case, so have to post to find out if what I am hearing is true. And we've been told what I heard originally is not true. That's the end of it. There's no need to argue beyond that. I'm not anyone's enemy here. But let's point out something else. I was not the one who said it was his last route. That is what I replied to. I didn't create a rumour, I asked for more information. I'm not saying the quoted post started a rumour, but it is what I replied to asking for the information to prove or disprove this. So get off my LOVE back. Thank you.
I will reply to posts where they are. That was my first reply on the matter, but if I wind up in a protracted discussion, I am known to want it split off as well. Plus we are known for getting railroaded but eventually getting back on track. Be careful what you ask for. It may result in a thread closure.
