Interesting - yes it seems hard to tweak - maybe I'll have a look around in the brightness/contrast settings in reshade - there's another section that I turned on that could easily be turned off, however I think if I do that it makes it look more washed out.
Another option is to uncheck "Enable depth based adjustments" in the PD80_04_Contrast_Brightness_Saturation.fx Depth Based Adjustments Enabled: Depth Based Adjustments Disabled. However, it looks fine outside the train, but in the cab, with this disabled, it makes everything look washed out: Depth Adjustments Enabled: Depth Adjustments Disabled: Again, much of a muchness - you could also go into the depth adjustments and change each setting manually if you wish.
why does my game look nothing like these? it is too washed out and warm, looks like an instagram filter.
Had these issues for a while too; lots of it depends on in-game graphics settings too and any changes you wish to make to the preset which I have done overtime to make it more like my sorta thing which is to resemble the look of my own photographs but also keeping a good amount of realism to it. Also; I made this mistake for a while so just in case, the “Realism ReShade” preset hasn’t been configured with RW Enhancer in mind, so deactivate that if you want to. The preset is more tuned to work with the AP Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack. The main settings of the ReShade preset you wanna mess with to get the correct look is Ambient Light, the one about Correct Colour and for me, outright turning off the Vort HDR setting is what I did and the only settings I messed around with to get the right look. Hope this helps!
Wow, only just noticed this now - super late reply! Are you using AP weather? If not, then you should copy the TimeOfDay files into the non UK route you want to use. If you don't have the AP weather pack and cloud pack, then I would highly recommend picking it up. There is also a thread on how to create TOD files specifically for US routes if you want to use AP weather. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/guide-apswep-for-different-regions.79299/
Yep, allows higher standing sun and short shadows at noon, but I am not allowed to distribute these files, so you have to "quickly" make them yourself once and then copy them. TSTools / serz.exe and Notepad++ are your friends. The image looks like the horrible default AdaptiveBloom (which they ruined in TS2019) in combination with another post process bloom effect (Reshade?) Definitely not vanilla TSC.
