Water yes coal no I've actually run out of coal with the 4F before now using manual firing and if you watch flying Scotsman tender during a service the coal level goes down. As it currently stands only the coal levels in flying Scotsmans tender visibly go down with the other three you have to save your progress in a service, return to main menu then reload and the coal levels in the tender will be different

 

Also if you watch the weight of a steam hauled service while driving you'll see it go down

 

IRL the driver will be in communication with the fireman about when to shovel coal though...

 

Yes, that is correct. Apologies for any confusion there.

 

I don't use Scotsman or the 4f so it must be on those two only. Fair dos but the chances of running out of coal on the current runs are low anyway.

 

Only if you use the 4F on manual as the tender doesn't have the capacity to have the firebox door left open during the whole run and flying Scotsman won't last long
