I might be a bit late to the party, but considering the few soundmods that already exist for the Dostos are only available for one or two Dostos from their respective routes, I actually plan making this soundmod available for all Dostos that we have in Train Sim World so far, and perhaps making a 146 soundmod along with it for a better overall experience. Current status of the mod + full planned changelog (will be edited as time passes): Doppelstock Coaches - new rolling sounds (done) - new braking sounds (done) - new flange sounds (done) - new door alarm sound (done but waiting a bit further in case poll results change) - new horn sound (work in progress) - new joint sounds (work in progress) DB BR 146 - new horn sound (work in progress) - new traction motor sounds (work in progress) - new rolling sounds (done) - new flange sounds (not started) - new fan sounds (not started) - new idle (MCB) sound (not started) Preview video of the current Dosto sounds as of May 26th 2024: Until the mod is finished, WIP states of the mod will only have the new sounds applied to the Dresden-Riesa version of the Dostos and the 146. I have also added a poll (as seen at the top) to see if people want to keep the current three-tone door alarm sound, or if it would be better to give the Dostos the newer, fast beeping sound as a closing alarm. I'll give it one month as I am sure I'll have made more progress until then so I can add the alarm sound as one of the last changes.
The Dostos are in need of a new sound set. Thank you so much for working on that. Can't wait for the result
Great proejct! I feel that the old 3 tone alarm sound when closing the door is quite iconic. I prefer it way over the new beepy one. In my opinion, you shouldn't ditch it.
Update: Changed the door closing alarm to an improved three-tone jingle as polls requested (I don't think the result will change) Added new flange sounds Added new horn sound New preview: Horn preview: I am now starting to work on the 146. If that is finished and I am happy with the whole soundmod, I'll port it to the other Dostos and 146's in TSW. Feedback is also appreciated, which might help this to get even better.
I really like the new flange sounds when driving. About the horns, I think they sound a bit odd yet. Maybe it is because they cut off immediately and/or need a bit of reverb. Where do you got these sounds from? Did you synthesized any?
I just realised that it's how DTG unfortunately once again set that stuff up where it doesn't really use the horn ending audio files, so that's where I cannot really do anything unless I get into working with sound cues and all that, but it might just be way too time consuming and complicated. I actually took the chance to grab them from ItsYa165's BR 423 soundmod in his fun soundmods page on TSC, after asking if I could port his mod to TSW4 and add it to the 423 from Cologne-Aachen, as he said he won't touch anything of that anymore and we would be free to use that
You could import the sound file into an audio program and do a bit of tweaking and adding reverb by yourself in a different way. I even could help you with that since I have several such programs and could add a bit of reverb to it.
I'll probably change the horn sound again another time if I get a better idea (and if that makes it sound better) anyway, and thanks for the help offer but I might try it for myself for now
Update: Started working on the 146. Sounds are definetly not representing the final product, but it already sounds good to me. Done traction motor sounds and implementing the horn from the Dostos into the loco, which however may also be changed later on. (sorry for the two Discord sound effects in the background, I was streaming that in a VC while recording lmao)
Update: Various sounds of the Doppelstock coaches now actually have different versions of the same sound, meaning it doesn't use the exact same sound per whatever (eg. the fast rolling sound has 4 audio files. Before, I used the same sound across all 4 files. Now, each file has a slightly different sound, so it adds a bit more sound variety and immersion) This affects rolling, flange and braking sounds Changed the PZB beeping sound on the cab car Added new rolling sounds to the BR 146
currently not continued since a few weeks ago as I am busy with other things, both irl, but also a different soundmod.
