With so much content now in TSW, much of it starting to consist of shorter routes particularly for the UK, the time has come for DTG to refocus. Instead of more short routes with one new train, for £29.99 we expect something on the scale of ECML, decent length run and not stop/start bus services. Or extend the routes we already have. The time it takes to validate all this content on Steam, as just voiced in another thread, is also an issue leading to the workaround of having to temporarily disable some of the DLC to get it done.

They've proven longer routes and/or extensions to existing routes can be done, so really no excuse.

DTG's infallible market research and player enquettes tell DTG's higher management otherwise: thumbstick players get bored with long routes, which tend to be either featureless high speed runs or sluggish freight runs up and down some famous mountain pass?
Thumbstick players want quick action and excitement, frequent starting and stopping with one handle trains so they have no chance to twiddle their thumbs, and instant rewards, plus collectibles to gain some extra points?

Routes in installments? Perhaps in some future subscription model? Or in the next incarnation which could include micro transactions?

As a player who uses a controller on both console and PC.... Uhm, definitely not reflective of me
glances at all those US freight routes in my collection like CRR, HSC, CC, SPG, SMH, CJP

It's almost as though different people like different things, isn't it? If only some people in here would realise.

I hate to be this person but I’m going to. It seems like at this point, the thread has dissolved more into endless posts to push the thread over 100 pages and not about constructive discussion in regards to TSW4 and DTG, like this thread originally started as.

To be honest, I felt the point the thread was making had been adequately punctuated by the first 30 pages, but here we are. Off the top of my head, this is only the third time I've posted in here for the record.

I think I’ve posted less than 10 times in this whole thread myself. And as I said, now there just seems to be this desire to push it to as high of pages and posts it can be and not actually talking about anything constructive.

I think that in the last few pages it did get filled with quite a few filler posts but overall the thread does still serve a purpose - when the next major crapfest happens I fully expect this thread to return to normal.

I'd prefer to read targeted feedback on one perspective than this combined dumpster.

Fix for a pantograph? I hope you have prepared money for the paywall it will end up behind! And hope that it's only going to be one paywall.

Ironically your two non constructive posts within 150 minutes is helping to push the page count ever higher.

With all due respect, unless someone has super glued your mouse and keyboard in place there is nothing keeping you trapped in this thread. You are free to wander around and contribute to any other thread you want whilst avoiding ones that you don't agree with or feel part of. Saying that, for those who want to see the page count mount up, your contribution has helped.

I think this thread says it all.

Pretty much lost interest with TSW over the past year, the content ive got since tsw4 adds to the disappointment (except Blackpool Branches of course<3 )

I really struggle to see an evolution in TSW, sure there are new assets, some new Buildings here and there but fundamentally, nothing has changed really. So much stuff that the community is all over again and all of those years later, it feels like TSW hasn't moved that much, at least not as much as it should at this point.

We are still plagued with problems originating in rush hour times... We are still plagued of a "non fixing" politics from DTG where only the minor amount of problems get solved (and with that i mean solved, often enough they are just lazy fixes that ships around the actual problem).

The pricing is still ridiculous. Sorry but i have no other words for this, the quality never met the asked price imo.

Now, just before the new release they now try to gather feedback to fix some things so it doesn't look as bad, but honestly, we are discussing a wrong pantograph setup which hasn't been fixed since a year....... In a Train Simulator.... And thats just one thing on a list of problems that is so long, i cant even imagine.

The nail in the coffin for me was the actual statement that we shouldn't expect anything else beside EMU commuter routes at this point. The Reason? : WE

First of all : blaming the community for sub par content that then sells bad because its sub par is your fault DTG.

Steam has failed because DTG messed it up, now blaming us because we didn't brought it enough.

The future if TSW then is modern plastic trains (please, there is anything right with liking modern Emus, commuter routes and so on, but a TRAIN simulator should be able to display all common traction types)

With this future you will lost a significant amount of players, EMUs are cool but im not that old to really have experienced anything else beside them, so im really interested in experiencing old diesels and steamers, something i would not he able.... And by the looks TSW will be unable to represent this to me at all.

I think its unbelievable poor from DTG to blame the Community for not buying their broken stuff. It was you that messed up big time. I struggle to see a bright future of this franchise, with all its problems, broken content and reluctance to fix fundamentals. I had great moments with TSW but i think Enough is really Enough for me. Here since the very beginning, i will have a look here at some point but looking out for new things in the gaming scene. There are some fantastic Train games out there to be checked.

    Cheers guys

In fact the evidence, dropping of steam, diesel traction and freight routes and trains plus the lack of or failure to implement innovative features, indicates a regression.

Think back to the beginning: Sand Patch, NTP, TVL and GWE, even the Rush Hour routes. And compare that era's promise with the current one.

Yeah, and you could not post anything in here at all, or any thread for that matter, and I’d wager a guess none of us would be upset about it. This is a completely useless reply to me other than an attempt at a personal jab because I called you out on some obvious bs like a month ago. Notice how plenty of others posts are helping push the page count higher. I simply made an observation that others are also making but you made sure to, pathetically, single me out. Where’s your constructive post in here? Or ever. Take a seat, pal.

Honestly it's a damning thing about the state of the game that Sand Patch is still arguably among the better DLCs made for the game. In comparison I've not seen anyone argue that Cajon Pass or any other base Rail Simulator route is in anyway among the best routes in TSC.

Is any new Route going to be released before the August news blackout? If not, this iteration is way behind what TSW3 introduced.

Was it the bad gateway error? I was on a ferry and I though it was my connection that was the problem.

Yes, Alex replied on Discord that they're about to solve the problems with the team at the moment. Could be that there are still drops during the next hours.

It’s hard to tell. The dates for the 4-6 months category on the May roadmap that has the two routes in it does extend through to October and the 0-3 months only has locos in it. Dates can move around but it doesn’t look at all like a route will be released before August. The June roadmap may give a better indication.

Maybe they'll release a summer expansion, as previously mentioned. S. Bernardino (US), the new UK route and, maybe, something Austrian/German? Who knows...

If San Bernardino is the US segment of the Summer Bundle, it's a bit miserly on DTG's part because they developed this route along with AVL last year. It should have launched already. There should be something better for Summer 2024.

If SB is part of a TSW5 bundle I'll probably look for something that just includes the core update and perhaps the UK offering. Or maybe I'll skip the whole bundle for now. Another single track Metrolink commuter line has little interest for me anyway.

Just an invalid certificate error. They're as old as SSL, we've had them since 1996, odds are DTG's is just out of date because of a clock synch error. Newer browsers just go for a more scary message to announce them to laypersons than the more traditional error message that anyone using a browser back in the day would have been technically adept enough to parse.

As much as I criticize DTG, I really enjoyed their TSW2 game, I enjoyed spending hundreds of hours in it and it was great times, thanks for that to the development team. :)

I still believe TSW2 has been the best release in the franchise, and will continue to believe that until we see any significant overhaul to the game engine that would actually warrant a re-release and not just a quick money grab with features like volumetric fog, which was just a checkbox, and TOD4 which could've easily been updated and included with TSW2. In the TSW4 game files the programme is still referred to as 'TS2Prototype'.

I play the original Routes on TSW2 (less melting on my RTX); I only have TSW4 for the newer UK / US Routes.

Please for the love of god fix the multitude of controller problems I've been having on PS5 since TSW4 launched. Full game crashes from hitting a shortcut, non working controls, missed inputs, improperly labelled controls. Where is the polish or attention to detail? Where are the bug fixes? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!

I agree. Performance has deteriorated since TSW2. Every newer version seems to have more of the dreaded immersion breaking stutters and pauses.

A pommie friend of mine has the London to Brighton route for TSW2 running on a PS5. The section between Croydon and Victoria has the odd annoying stutter here and there but the line between Brighton and Croydon runs fairly smoothly and is enjoyable.

On Friday 9 Feb 2024 DTG had their "Festival of Rail" stream on YouTube and the London to Brighton route was featured running on TSW4 and I assume DTG used a very capable machine for what was a major showcase broadcast.

Not sure what platform was used but the performance leaving Brighton towards Victoria was absolutely atrocious. It was so much worse than it runs on TSW2/PS5 and at times you can see the presenter (Matt) wincing and grimacing at the awful amount of stutters that the route produced. I almost felt embarrassed and sorry for him but then came to my senses and realised he was actually trying to sell this dismal second (third?) rate "product".

Here is the video. The Brighton route run starts at around the 42 minute mark (42:00)

My pom chum made a timeline of the major immersion breaking stutters for about half an hour on the run before muttering some cockney obscenities and giving up. Here is a copy and paste of his log...

(Timings given as runtime on video in format MM:SS and HH:MM:SS )

    43:20 44:31 45:02 45:28 45:46 46:03 47:30 49:20 50:03 53:01 53:32 54:03 54:55 55:20
    55:52 56:37 59:10 1:02:20 1:03:21 1:03:35 1:04:20 1:04:47 1:05:18 1:05:28 <Stopped at station>
    1:10:05 1:10:45 1:11:00 1:11:29 1:11:45 1:12:11 1:12:23 1:12:50 1:13:29

With performance as bad as this TSW4 is nothing short of a disgraceful poor quality rip off being sold at premium prices.

    Shame on you DTG.

Something I noticed a few weeks ago While looking for info and researching a few trains, I found this to be very interesting, as it shows what is popular on TSW YT video pages.

Personally, I really like the TSW1/2020 interface from the main menu to in-game. The one thing that is a pain in the Bumm is that in TSW 2, you are thrust into a scenario upon launch of a Route. And it would have been nice to have a Clear image rather than it being Blurry.

There's a reason they've left the London to Brighton route alone.

It's unstability being why, given its their most ambitious route.
