How in the world did we go from "not on the Roadmap means not happening" to "not on the Roadmap means it must be happening"?

The "6+ months" category isn't missing, it's been renamed "Release Date To Be Confirmed" from the first Roadmap of 2024. And "4-6 months" is still there until it isn't. Nothing has been dropped.

The 'Release Date TBC' category shouldn't be a substitute for the missing '6 months+' category. Up until the December 2023 roadmap, both of these were separate categories.

Now looking onto the "Release Date to be Confirmed" category of the May roadmap, this really can't be the case because in no way can it be that these less events (2 third party and 2 routes from Dovetail) is happening in the time up 6 months plus from now.

That's why I think the "Release Date to be Confirmed" isn't a replacement for the "6 months+" category. Otherwise were there ever an official statement that it should be a replacement? I guess no. Not quite sure how they are going to do it, but as I said above I expect the 4 to 6 months category to be dropped soon as well.

Pro: The routes at the launch of a new TSW are always very good (and well priced).
Cons: New bugs and incompatibilities will emerge which will make the current routes (of TSW4) full of artifacts to fix.

Alex clarified on the discord that the 6+ months category is removed because its too far away for a solid release date. Alot of things that showed up in 6+ months had dissapeared over time like the austrian/german loco.

Let's start the predictions! TSW5 will be retro themed and will feature the VT11.5 on the cover!

It's going to be something we've never seen before, like British modern one-handle EMUs :D

Interesting. So that means my theory is refuted? Anyways, I'm taking a look at what happens in the next roadmaps.

Start? This whole thread is about predicting things, while there's zero evidence yet.

    But my pre
There is evidence provided in this thread that TSW5 is coming. Focus considers TSW as a yearly release. Because Focus is expecting from DTG to release TSW5, there is evidence enough to start predicting what TSW5 will be. However as TSW4 Rush Hour 2 could also be considered as new release there is still room to claim it will not be called TSW5. But my prediction is 'TSW5 Trans Europe Express" is the title :D

I suspect that there will be a new iteration of TSW this year, what form it takes who knows.

I doubt very much that they would show the suspension improvements as a new TSW5 feature and that they will feature in TSW4 even if completion it is post a TSW5 release.

I will purchase TSW5 if it has routes I like or features I think it is worth paying for. No doubt it will lead to anguish by some of the professionally offended, getting angry at people spending their own money as happened with TSW4's release.

Nah it will be TSW5 - "Going Narrow".

UK will be the Ffestiniog Railway (surprise, steam is back).
    Germany will be Brocken Mountain.
USA will be Durango to Silverton.

You know what, I completely missed that TBC at the bottom of December when I was looking back. You're right about that, it was indeed dropped. Someone else already gave the explanation, however.

That second statement doesn't follow from the first, and I would question the first to begin with. That was an interesting graphic, but what was its source and context? Has an annual release for TSW been implemented now, or was it simply referring to the 12 months between TSW3 and 4? Or is a 12 month TSW iteration a future goal?

Given that significant bits of TSW4 that were used to sell it are still undelivered or incomplete, a TSW5 this year would be a colossal mistake IMO.

How does it not follow the first stament? My English is not so good so I might miss nuance but the graphic was from Focus. Focus bought DTG, so if Focus puts this in their presentations that the TSW game is yearly franchise there is expectations at Focus that there will be made money also in 2024.

You could become a major shareholder at Focus and have it your way. Nothing stopping you from doing what you think is the right thing to do. It's your money ;)

I don't like TSW5. Having to redownload previously purchased DLC every time I buy a new TSW is a waste of time and takes up unnecessary hard drive space. The suspension improvements promised for TSW4 are still under development, so what's the point of announcing them for TSW4 if TSW5 is going to be released anyway?

Of course, if TSW5 is indeed going to be released, I'm eagerly hoping for performance improvements, especially the introduction of DLSS2 and FSR2. I know UE4.26 doesn't support DLSS3, but surely introducing DLSS2.2 would be better than nothing? Even if the effect isn't great, the choice of switch should be given to the player.

I doubt TSW5 is coming this year, as I can imagine most of DTG’s time and resources are now focused on their upcoming “City Transport Simulator: Tram” game.
This summer, I would like to see a triple route rush hour pack, like back in TSW2, that would be cool.

That game isn't developed by DTG. DTG is publishing it.

Thanks very much for the link! I wasn't able to find this one on their website to see if there's anything else accompanying it that might add more definition, but the financial reports found from the "investors" link at the bottom of the Focus homepage (https://www.focus-entmt.com/en) have some interesting info. For example, one recurring theme is that they really took a bath on Atlas Fallen and will be releasing an improved version, but another is the positive contribution the Dovetail acquisition has made. From the statement covering Q4 published April 18th:

Also from that and the preceding quarterly statements:

"Through the regular delivery of additional content" certainly seems to mean DLCs, and there's no mention of new versions; in fact, they separate the two TS franchises from "new games".

So my own interpretation after seeing the original document that sourced the screencap and the other financial statements on Focus/Pullup's website: The "smoking gun" may or may not be a stage pistol, and we don't know squat.

How about DTG do the Class 707. Not many modelling differences I can think of (DRA button looks different and that's about all I can think of) and we could cover more of the SE network.

Tell you what I am interested to see. If my avatar will grow her hair back after the buzzcut TSW4 gave her upon importing.

Or is this meant as a narrative arc? Like she went completely bald during LGV Méditerranée because.... of chemotherapy or something? And then this is her starting to grow it back in as she proudly returns to driving trains having fully recovered?

Even if they would develop it, this wouldn’t make sense because they high probably would gain much more revenue with a new TSW title than the new tram simulator.

I expect the audience of interested people for this to be rather in the minority. DTG also produced a tram sim on their own last year, but somehow it didn't went too well. To be honest I feel the release of a new tram sim made by a different developer published through DTG instead of maintaining/enhancing their own one from last year rather controversial.

Let's see how things will turn out, how good it will be and people receive it but I don't expect major jumps here.

If there is a TSW5 this year then, hopefully, it will include the features that many on these forums have been crying out for.
    1) A working Editor to enable us to create and distribute our own content.
    2) The ability to create your own Formations and add them to Creative Centre.
    3) Improved Suspension.
TBH I'm very surprised that these features aren't with us already but, perhaps, DTG had other priorities when they launched previous versions of TSW? ;)

DTG didn't make last year's one either, they were only the publisher, publishing multiple games in a genre they are specialists in is hardly controversial.

DTG pulled all your pants down to ankles and shafted the lot of ya who bought 4!!!! Everything promised on 4 will be fully implemented but only if you buy 5! Exact same from 3 to 4.

Very very grateful I saw 'snowrunner' mentioned alot... thank you to everyone who mentioned it!!!

I don’t think that’s 100% true. Yes, they’re publishing it, but I would be confident in saying DTG have some small contribution to its development. Even if it’s by a small margin.
A question I’m going to ask on the next DTG stream (DTG’s involvement).
