    Ho hum….
I’ve looked at the roadmap and I’m not particularly enthused by the meagre offerings being presented. The only thing that looks interesting is the 380 however until we get some dynamic gameplay shots/videos I shall reserve judgement. However I’m looking towards the Aug-Oct period and what might be coming up. If we follow the pattern we will be looking at TSW5 and this is the year that i put my foot down and say no not buying. This year has been flat as a fart for releases after much fanfare of TSW4 and much potential that hasn’t occurred beyond the release of the initial game. So i shall bow out of the TSW yearly cash grab….UNLESS (you knew there would be one) we have a classic pack involving locos and stock which we don’t have in the game thus far, Only one loco would get me saying take my cash NOW which would be a cl50 in NSE livery. Combine that with a Exeter-Paignton run or something which involves Bristol and i would be happy to pay over the odds. Problem is we have hit a bit of an impasse. DTG stated they would only be concentrating on newer traction which means for the UK less choice and reusing 80x models with different layers and if what i have read regarding Pendolino units is correct they might as well get on with producing it now to eradicate the errors before the chopped HS2 becomes a reality then they can concentrate their efforts on NPHR without having to work out how to fit 186mph Pendolinos, yes 186mph Pendolinos into the timetable without crashing the game. At least we could have a potential chance for something that resemble an up to date head to head race up the WCR! But we are running the kettle dry for UK options in traction but plenty or tantalising routes if DTG would stop and recognise their massive gaps in the system and that some very popular route would increase potential sales. But hey as a consumer who am I to demand and why would they listen to me?

Actually looking forward to the 380 and the Cathcart Circle update. Despite being an old duffer, I was never a fan of the PEP units so don't drive them much in train sims. Plus hopefully someone clever will make a 380/385 Timetable mod for Edinburgh to Glasgow from the time they shared that service.

I rarely wait for official releases, there are some amazing people in the community who've already done improved timetables on a number of routes, I keep looking out for a HST/IET timetable mod for ECML so if anyone has seen one, please do let me know. Swapping out some 385s for 380s will be one of the easier timetable modding challenges hopefully.

Does this mean unbranded 387's will be making an appearance as AI at Peterborough then?

And what if the BR 218 expert line comes out in a couple of years? Maybe it's better to wait and buy the BR 218 Expert directly.

Sarcasm is missing. 101 Expert didn't even exist when 101 was launched :)

Exactly! And we have had a couple of years with the original 101 DLC. Therefore I am more than happy to pay the developer full price for a new evolution with a ton of extra stuff in it!

I am acknowledging that it is a lot of work and that it is a huge risk to explore a new category of DLC like this. I am pretty sure that it will be a niche market only and I would assume that 90% of the future customers have the old 101 already. Do you really think that it would be financially viable for a developer to then say old customers pay halfe price only (or whatever percentage)?! I don’t think so…

Then again, whatever we feel or want, they will make their business case and we will have to accept it, if we want or not.

What kind of extra stuff are you talking about? A backpack and a decorative tablet on the dashboard to justify the novelty? Will there be Ebula? No, there won't be. For me, the only real feature that would justify the purchase (for the third time). And for me (who has already purchased 2, one on the Microsoft Store when there was no possibility of using it on PC and the other on Steam) it is still the best locomotive we have on TSW. So The 101 was already expert as it was. As all TSG products have always been. A lot of study, yes, but for the cab-car, the 101 was already perfect for years. Enthusiasm ok, but here we exaggerate.

Well, buying an expert version that has significantly more functions than the original version, especially a few years later, is totally fine with me.
As long as we don't have countless versions of the same loco shipped with different routes and each equipped with different bugs, like we used to have in TSC.
Oh wait. That's exactly what we have...

Why don’t you at least wait until you see the list of extra stuff?! Instead everyone (I should rather say “many”) expects it’s the same as the original 101 or assumes the worst. And, no, the original is far from an expert loco. It’s good, yes, but it does not really features anything else than all the other locos in game.

Again, for me it’s fine the way it was advertised. If it is considerable less I will have to give it a pass. But it’s my choice! If it is not enough for you simply don’t buy it?!

"If you don't like it, don't buy it" is a BOT phrase! :)

Even my grandfather who is not interested in trains and has brilliantly passed 90 years of age knows that the entire forum (or at least those who appreciate what is on the other side of the Atlantic) practically all want the Cab Car of the IC. It's like if I put another ICE 3 together with the ICE 4. Do you want the ICE 4? Of course! Then you have to buy and pay for another ICE3 because I only sell them to you in a bundle. But you are always free not to buy it. You like it like this. :)

And tell me, have you already seen the lot of features you are talking about? Because otherwise you are taking me to task but you are making the same exact mistake of talking without knowing yet.

    Well, I must be a BOT then:cool:

I think we should end the argument, as it really does not lead anywhere. Its as always, just a question of what you believe in. Lets just wait and see. And everyone who wants to complain now is of course absolutely entiteled to do so

    x _ _ _ x__
    __x_x___x
    _____xx_x

How many vehicles (x) are in the boxes above?
I declare that I am not a BOT! (check here) :D

I agree with you. So we will update soon, hopefully.
Because the purchase is mandatory (for the cab car).

But i doubt that's going to happen with the expert 101. It didn't even happen with the "normal" 101.

expert 101 tends to be more realistic and immersive since the locomotive will have more steps to start it up, requiring configuration on the displays that will be fully functional (which in the old 101 is more simplified as it skips steps and we don't have functional displays) and of course, I can't fail to mention the cab car, for me it will be a day one purchase as it will also be with 218

I'm waiting for all the complaining about the new 101. It's too complicated...

Look at all the grief over having safety system defaulted on LIRR.

If US safety systems are that complicated they won't even be able to start the train.

they already said if u read that the systems on the new 101 will not be by default u can turn them off so get your facts right just saying okay its good as well because PZB/LZB is the worst and hardest safety system in TSW the LIRR is easy as know and dont understand why people cant get that right when its one of the easy systems

The reason why people can't get it right is because one they basically don't want too. They end up "free balling" it and then wonder why the route "uNpLaYaBlE" when there are countless of guides, and tutorials that teach you how to operate them, which really shows the serious incompetence of the community. But again safety systems on by default is a very valid complaint

It is already an established fact, that the expert 101 / cab car will also have an easy mode, so you do the same procedure as for all the other locos and just drive.

Keeps the question whether it's easy enough for these players to even be aware of, find or turn on easy mode. :D

My guess will be two model types, one simplified and one fully immersed

Today is the xbox showcase. Just imagine what would happen if microsoft would drop a train sim like they did with msfs.

I'm curious about how TSG will do this as well. Is two separate model types reliable? Did something like that ever happen before?

Not two models, but the scripts have a lot of shortcuts and deactivated formulas in easy mode, I could imagine.
