Apart from the 218, very bland and mediocre. Nothing to stir the juices at all.

Can only assume the big in house stuff being held back for TSW5 or the late summer £40 bundle.

Another month of barely much to talk about? No news not even a snippet of a look at these new uk routes (uk is only routes I go for). Glad to see albeit the improved night lighting in Cathcart. Around Glasgow central it looks brilliant!

Still no informations about the unknown UK route and San Bernardino line, the Cathcart remaster looks brillant, better lighting, more service and layers, and updated scenery, all these would turn Cathcart into a fantastic route. It would even include Class 47, Class 801, Class 158 and maybe 170, it would make Cathcart much busier.
I wonder if the UK route, San Bernardino line and the newly announced German route would be saved for a big bundle or TSW5.

Yeah, that’s what I also mean, a release date would come in an article dedicated to the 218

The 218 news was good, but to be honest, I was much more “stired” by the 101 article… really exciting:cool:

Which doesn't make sense because, according to DTG, all the elements of AVL and SB ( routes, locos and rolling stock ) were surveyed simultaneously when the team were out in California last year. AVL was released last year, so why is SB being held " in the can "?

The likely answer of course is that, rather than make a major, new US route for the Summer '24 bundle, DTG will take the cheaper option and use the short, single track San Bernardino commuter line as the American offering. There's nothing else on the Roadmap.

And since it's June already, there doesn't seem to be anything else from DTG for American players until at least 2025, despite the promise of " lots of exciting things in the pipeline which we can't talk about. " Right!

Not to mention a good handful of scenery assets would come from both Cajon Pass and Antelope Valley, so wouldn't its dev time be shorter?

Unless of course DTG is taking their time with the route to make it better than AVL (Such as no sunking and floating buildings)

Another disappointing month for me personally.

I'm becoming worried the 104 will now drop to the wayside along with the rest of steam never to even be acknowledged by dovetail which would be a real shame.

At least the prospect of a JT route is there to hopefully garner some interest though!

It was pretty confirmed by I think it was focus that TSW is a yearly release, so TSW5 or another fancy name it is.

On the Maintalbahn, near Miltenberg, there is a Bridge that is too low for Dostos. So if the BR 218 is to run on the Route with Dostos, will this be fixed or will we always have to break the Laws of physics?

    That's a healthy dose of cynicism :)

Not sure where you think SBD is in the can - it's not finished yet.

I raised a question for Alex to pick up in the Q&A thread. If you want to, I'm waiting for the sharing your knowledge in the livestream about this new procedural foliage system as Alex mentioned in the roadmap article for Fife Circle upgrade. How does it work? And how does it work in contrary the "old" foliage system?

    Really interested about that one.

Here is the quote by the way:
"A new procedural foliage system (as seen in the Overground Line)"

Very excited for Cathcart, the 380, and the 158.

The suspension update, while very late, is most welcome. Will this become a standard feature on future content? Hopefully yes!

Getting more and more intrigued by the pro 101, but why does it seems like they're lowering expectations for the 218....only slightly concerned though given TSG's track record.

US content and new 1st-party routes are the biggest missing pieces IMO. To be expected somewhat on the former, but what's up with the latter?

Would DTG like to confirm or deny a TSW5 for this fall?

Whilst not being indeed from first party, High Iron Simulatons was introduced in the last roadmap and it was said that they're about to develop a new US route. So it might take a while, but there still is hope for more content on US routes.

That I don't expect till late 2025 or 2026 by the earliest.

HIS still have the Santa Fe pack to make, plus how long will it take them to learn the editor for route development? Alot of those guys on that team are getting pretty high up in age.

Dieselnetz Euskirchen is an exciting new project by cadeshr6s that brings the diesel-operated lines of the Euskirchen region to life. This route includes several key cities and stations, that might be interesting to mention:

    - Bad Münstereifel: Known for its historic old town and medieval architecture, this picturesque city offers a charming backdrop for the route.
    - Euskirchen: The central hub of the route, Euskirchen is a vibrant city with a mix of modern amenities and historical sites.
    - Brühl Kierberg: Famous for its beautiful Kaiserbahnhof station, this location is rich in history and architectural beauty.

Each city along the route showcases unique landscapes and operational characteristics, providing an immersive and realistic experience. I suggest to you to keep an eye out for this project on the routemap to learn more about what it has to offer.
And DTG Matt if you like you could shortly just mention what this route is about based on the things I have listed. :)

Is that a confirmation that the San Bernardino line will be released as its own DLC and not as part of a bundle?
Why have you AI-generated a fake description?

Maybe not the most exciting roadmap in terms of announcing new content (and I’m disappointed the 104 doesn’t seem to be moving along quickly) but CCL and the suspension update finally arriving are very welcome announcements for me

    CCL looking exceptional now

Used to be an hourly service in the days of BR, GNER, etc etc, via Edinburgh and the East Coast into Kings Cross. Now I think it's one a day.

Well, it comes from reading the Roadmap and seeing a healthy amount of Scottish, English and German content but precious little for North Americans to look forward to. Cynicism, pessimism, call it what you will, but it's how I and others here feel.

Again, I'm going by your post back in February, I think it was, that all the groundwork for both Metrolink routes was done in California simultaneously and since AVL has been out for many months I assumed SB was ready. My mistake and apologies if I jumped the gun.

Great to see Glasgow Central looking much busier. Will definitely be driving more often on Cathcart Circle when the update is released and of course the Class 380 unit.

TBH, I don’t mind a TSW5 release as these reeases usually represent good value as they come with three routes - as long as they are ones I as interested in of course. I initially held back on TSW3 ( I did play it on Game Pass though) but bought it when they released it effectively for free with BCC.
I would welcome San Bernadino as one of the bundled routes as I don’t tend to buy American freight routes but quite liked Antelope Valley so am interested in that and it would save an extra purchase especially if the UK route is appealing. Purely from a personal point of view of course.

Looking forward to the 218 and 380 and maybe the other untitled DE releases, but I think that'll be for the summer update/TSW5

No new routes until the summer bundle/new game.

I’m also not sure the community projects should be in the roadmap articles. It’s not like I can look at them and look forward to using them, especially as a console player. A separate way of sharing them should be considered, not the roadmap, because they likely will never be released for all players .That is unless there is a plan to release them, and across all platforms as well. I do think that the roadmap articles should be for official content only.

    I have to agree.

They mention not wanting to add 3PPP projects to the roadmap until they've seen a working build, but community projects are probably even more likely to slip release dates or just never materialize for myriad reasons.

I appreciate them highlighting them, but would argue a separate feature is more appropriate.

I'd also love to hear if DTG has any plans to allow sharing editor content with the console platforms at some point.

The fact that it's never even been mentioned afaik doesn't inspire much hope, but it will be an even bigger issue in the future once the editor is fully released.

It was mentioned in the roadmap stream today that there is no way to share with consoles unless DTG publish it. Which I'm sure will cost money

History repeats itself....it looks like things are winding down somewhat to prepare us for the next major release. I think alot of the items on the roadmap will be held back for TSW5 (If you care enough to check the last roadmap for TSW3; there were quite a few pieces of content which didn't end up making it to TSW3...same for TSW2)

To be clear, I have no issue with this....I have come to expect it by now and I always find the bundles in each new release great value for money but I can understand the argument who dislike this 'paywall' approach for new content.

Will the cosmetic inconsistencies in hoses and MU cables on the class 33 be fixed at all? I reported it through email.
Additionally would it be possible to make the ETH cable on the WSR green class 47 functional?

Finally had a look at the roadmap, was busy during the day!

    1-3 Months:
Overall there’s definitely a little less news than expected… the Cathcart remaster looks amazing, but I really thought we would get more precise release windows/details on all the DLCs they’re planning on releasing before TSW5. Yet we still have no release windows for anything (I hope we’ll see the 218 and maybe the 380 before the next roadmap, we got quite a lot of detail on these two locos this time around after all).
    • They were also still pretty vague about the Expert 101 (lack of new screenshots and timetable details) and the ScotRail 158 (we did get one sneaky screenshot, but still basically no proper detail on the interior, services etc.). I suppose these two will be the last pieces of content we’ll see before the release of TSW5. Maybe they’ll release them in July-August, so there’s still some time.
      • On another note, I don’t really see the Levenmouth branch expansion (which is clearly many months away as they’ve only just started scouting/documenting the new stations and track) holding back the 158. Skyhook could get around the dilemma of having to create two timetables for it (with Levenmouth and without) by simply sending the trains onto the new Levenmouth branch already as AI. DTG did the same with Dresden-Riese… the trains still travel the entire length of the Flughafen branch and stop at every station even though that part of the route was never finished and is completely inaccessible to the normal player.

    4-6 Months:
On the contrary, something which I very much predicted: We got zero new info on the new US/UK/DE routes in the 4-6 months section, which just strengthens my belief that this will be our TSW5 core route bundle - and they’ve added a German loco, possibly for the special edition similar to the Vectron/Scotsman for TSW4.
I guess at least I can invest into some of the existing content that’s on sale now since there won’t be a new day one purchase (e.g. DE/UK route) for me for the next few months.

    Release Date TBC:
I’m not really putting much thought into the TBC section… there’s tons of stuff in there that isn’t even playable yet and was revealed wayyyy too early (this was admitted by DTG multiple times, they simply got a bit too excited and overwhelmed by the influx of new developers).
Nonetheless, there are some things in here which we can speculate on:
    • I’m assuming Just Trains is trying to get into a yearly release rhythm and targeting late autumn/early winter for their next route, which would kinda fit the initial release estimate we got before it was changed to TBD.
    • The new Köln-Aachen timetable is raising many questions… I remember it being announced as basically complete many months ago, and some time later it was being tested in preparation for release. Now we’re apparently back on the drawing board again… maybe Joe decided to wait for the new German rolling stock that has come out since and wants to implement it, there was a new technological advancement behind the scenes that allowed a more ambitious approach (like with the new Bakerloo timetable a while back), or it will come with TSW5. I’m still very much excited for it, but I reckon it would be insightful to hear why it is seemingly further away from release than ever before (at least ever since it was announced publicly).
All of the other projects in that section are from mostly very new and unpredictable third parties… we might get some of these this year - or in 2026 (not kidding, remember what happened to the poor 420).
