    Hello all, hope you’re well.
I’d really like to have a go at creating a route on the editor. My pc might just be able to run it (if I ask it nicely).
My issue is that I play TSW on PS5 so would I need to buy the game and all the content to access the editor?
    Seems silly to me really.
Can’t we have some kind of scaled down editor for the console because I can’t afford to buy everything again.

The editor is an extremely complex piece of software, made to be used by professionals to develop games. I doubt you can get that into a console :D

Nope! The PC Editor is completely free on the Epic Games Store. No extra purchases required. Just be aware that the available assets may be heavily restricted since you don't own any DLC for PC. However, if you know how to model with 3D programmes like Blender, then you can import any custom asset into the editor to be used.

    Hope this helps. :)

Yeah it’s the extra bits that will annoy me. I would want access to all of the uk assets as I’ve got a route in mind that I’d like to have a go at.

This is why I’d like to see a scaled down version of it somehow but I do understand that’s still very difficult to do

Unfortunately it's been answered by dtg that it is not possible. First the editor is for a pc. There's a reason why games are developed on a pc than a console. Running the simulations and building everything works much easier on a pc. Imagine having to use a joystick to do precise placements or having manually add services, build trains and spend many hours rerunning a timetable over and over again. That is very labor intensive and matt explained that consoles don't have the hardware to cope with all that.

...but you can't use it unless you own the game on Epic or Steam.

so your issue with editor for consoles is the editor for them would need to be built from ground up and would need a ton of work and that's even if editor is possible. I'm not sure epic have a version of their editor that can run on consoles. The base line though is you wouldn't get anything on console editor wise.

One reason I use and play on PC as you can get additional stuff sometimes and most of the time games are easier to play and can get much better tweaked graphics then consoles

    Yes exactly, unfortunately.
So you need to understand the following.

The TSW PC Editor is just a derivate/adapted version of Unreal Engine 4.26, which is owned by Epic Games. Epic Games' Unreal Engine is only meant to run on PC, you can't run it on consoles (at least not a common way and in a way that makes sense).

DTG has absolutely no control over bringing the adapted Unreal Engine version for TSW to consoles, its all in Epic Games responsibilty.

In fact, I'm happy that Epic Games even is willing to let DTG distribute a derivate of their own software in their stores. Otherwise, we wouldn't even have the TSW Editor now.

Yes, that's very unfortunate. And DTG kind of failed to create an asset library of standard DTG assets yet.

However, this is how things are at the moment. You have the option to buy a TSW4 key and some DLCs for PC again or if you don't want to do that, you need to leave route creation. Nobody of us can change it.

OP is asking whether they would need to rebuy TSW4 and all their content for PC, since the Editor is only available on PC and they are used to have all their content for PlayStation only. The answer is unfortunately yes.
