Well if/when the preview stream Q&A appear one of my questions will be, have the scenarios been thoroughly tested. Given we have at least two TSG products - the G6 and Niddertalbahn - with faulty scenarios that prevent Journey mode being completed. With it, it seems, no urgency by either party to issue a fix or remove them from the roster/ timetable.

Sorry, but wrong assumption. There is a will to change it, but as said in the other thread, it's not possible to do for reasons. To fix the (since TSW3) broken G6 services i need to redo half of the timetable for the new dispatcher versions, with unforeseen problems to come with that. Nothing i could do yet. I'm not a timetable expert. I'm somewhat happy that the G6 timetable, with its only 19 additional services, was working at all for release. Took me over a month to create that tiny bit of services. Removing the broken services is the same amount of work at least. You cant just delete them. The TT needs to be stay intact for all the other services. That will break when removing the faulty things. I tried that already. Niddertalbahn has no faulty services or scenarios afaik. The falling tree one needs some brain from the player to geht through it. There is no other way to do such a thing at the moment (i described that already at some other thread).

But what's the alternative? Waiting until DTG makes a fitting route, so TSG can release it then? How many more years are you ready to wait until this happens? I'm sure TSG knows about future DTG route plans. If something like what you described is planned, i'm sure TSG would wait for it. But it seems that this is not the case.
So.. release it for HBK with an additional MAIN layer or don't release it at all?

I agree - but as we know DTG, it would be going to be a route between Husum and Westerland at best, I even wouldn't be surprised if it becomes Niebüll Westerland :/ (and think of all the branches on the Marschbahn!!)
But if they would do a legacy Marschbahn with all the car transport action, I would be in heaven! Think of driving a train with cars to Westerland, then decouple, let the train make its next run, take the loco to the yard and couple to the next car train ... and back to Niebüll again. That would be fun for days.

Of course, for me too. That would actually be the perfect route for the 218 and there would really be a lot to do. It should be clear that the entire Marschbahn will never be built. But I would be happy with the Itzehoe/Niebüll - Westerland section.

Yes, exactly, that's why I say that I don't think there is currently a major route planned for (mainly) the 218, otherwise the release would have been combined, i.e. route and locomotive.

    And that's somehow a shame. :|

But on the other hand, you're right, it's better to publish it alone (just the 218) than to wait another few years for a suitable track.

I'm looking forward to the 218 from TSG.

Will the 218 actually have the suspension or will have it in future when it's properly introduced in TSW?

Suspension is already implemented (no animated parts of course as that is not possible yet).

Sounds to me like a don't release it at all. Somewhere back in the past it must have already been clear that it would not make sense? Normally I'm the last one to complain about pricing but to me this looks way too expensive to even just add it to my cart because I'm in a good mood.

But how is that too expensive? The vR BR 218 for TSC costs 16.95 Euros. The TSG BR 218 for TSW 17.99 Euros. Btw both locos basically developed by the same person. And:
    upload_2024-6-20_13-23-26.png

For every repaint (!) you pay the full price of the loco. While in TSW you'll find extremly well done repaints of it on the same day for free. Or even better repaints if you're on PC and someone makes a repaint mod.

Also the TSW Version comes with an additional n-Wagen coach as well as a new cab car which is not a "copy paste" job, but a new cab car.

So imo, the price of the 218 is completely normal. Sure, it's not cheap or anything. But if you put it in perspective, it's absolutely acceptable.

Maybe it's the same answer every time because it's still true every time?
"Why do you keep saying that 2+2 equals FOUR?"
    "Because it does?"

Saying that DTG is a business so it operates likes a business isn't going to change. Their goals aren't always YOUR goals either because you aren't them and vice versa....

What has TSC pricing to do with TSW pricing?

You’re gaslighting at this point, trying to equate opinions to facts (like 2+2=4)

Obviously, our goals don’t align 100% and I don’t expect them to. But, once again, that doesn’t invalidate the rest of my point about this dlc, a point that you omitted

What’s funny is I’m generally pretty fair on here but anytime I give feedback that runs afoul of the die hards, I get sucked into playing Wheel of Excuses with a bunch of you

What do you mean with a new n-Wagen? Is it the first class n-wagen or are you talking about the capcar?

To be fair, you didn't make any additional point that wasn't already addressed. You don't like where DTG is spending their time. That's it. Listing the different ways you WISH they would do what you want instead isn't a new point. It's just continuing the same point over and over.

Using incorrect definitions and language to try to ridicule others (and failing) doesn't change the basic point you don't like.
It's a FACT that DTG has said something. Then they say the same thing several times again.
That's not an "opinion".... that's just stating what they did.
You don't LIKE that "excuse" so you keep saying "no more excuses!"
However, that's no DIFFERENT than what they are doing.
You call it "excuses" and "not valid" when they explain to you WHY they do what they do, but you consider YOU repeatedly saying the same thing as somehow better. No, you are doing what they are doing.

DTG: We don't have the staff. We are prioritizing X,Y,Z.
You: Well do this other stuff because I want it.
DTG: We don't have the staff. We are prioritizing X,Y,Z.
You: Well do this other stuff because I want it.
DTG: We don't have the staff. We are prioritizing X,Y,Z.
You: Well do this other stuff because I want it.
DTG: We don't have the staff. We are prioritizing X,Y,Z.
You: Well do this other stuff because I want it. STOP SAYING THE SAME THING!

Maybe they ARE telling the truth, maybe not. Doesn't matter. You can't disprove what they are saying, so it's an "explanation."
If you get access to their financial records to disprove it, then maybe you'd have a case (but it would still be their company so wouldn't matter in the end)
You can keep not liking it all you want. However, it does nothing positive to just keep implying they are lying without proof.
If you want to say you both just have an "opinion" then that's fair.
It still doesn't help screaming at them that they are lying without evidence, but if that's your unfounded opinion....

Is this true ? No one objected, also no one confirmed. From various announcements on YT i still think that Hamburg - Lübek has to be installed. I would like to support TSG, but i do not buy an outdated route to have a 218. Please verify.

Why would Hamburg Lübeck be necessary?
It is from TSW3 that the DLC locomotives were made routes independent.

I really wish people would read. But no you DO NOT have to buy Hamburg to Lubek. Anything TSW 3 and on is coupled or tied to a specific DLC. If you want the 218 just buy it and you'll have access to it

That is interesting Maik, I have been vocally critical of DTG’s suspension efforts because of the lack of animation. If I may, what exactly is holding back implementation of the animations?

He means "nothing" from TSW 3 and on. Conversely, TSW 2 and previous I think are all still locked to routes for use.
At least that's how it was explained to me. I don't know if any of that changes if a route gets an update like TOD 4.....

You only need Hamburg-Lübeck, if you want to have the 218 timetable layer on Maintalbahn. The reason for that is because MAIN has no Dostos and the 218 "just" comes with n-Wagen, but no other coach. No Dosto, no freight waggon. That's why you need HBK: it unlocks the 218 Layer on Main. But you can purchase and use the 218 without both HBK and MAIN.

I don't really understand all the complaining. Of all the routes which currently exist in TSW, only Hamburg and the Niddertal are approproiate for the 218 in real life. No, it's not reasonable to expect them to (a) put the 218 where it doesn't belong, or (b) make a whole new (or more likely vintage) route for it.

It's kind of a shame there's no Niddertal layer for it

The system is not giving feedback to use it in the animation system yet. Only the air suspension does it.

For Niddertalbahn we would not only need a different livery for the loco but also the mint-green cab car and that is not just a repaint of the red one. They have differences in the mesh and so we would need to build in the diesel desk again into that mint-green cab car mesh. That's a lot of work. We might do that at some point, but not for free.

I agree with you. The only route that I am really missing is Niedertalbahn. I would not have mind to pay a bit extra for the needed livery.

The 218 didn't go on the Maintalbahn? I believe it did in real life. Several sources state it did.
Now it ALSO went on the Niddertalbahn (and other routes too throughout it's long history), but saying those are the ONLY two is incorrect.

I don't know if the timeframes fir any of the other German routes in the game and the 218, but the Maintalbahn does make it a solid 3 routes it would fit on. It will probably extend there as a layer after it's released.

    The rest... who knows?

For the DB BR 101, also of TSG, it is not necessary to have the route Duisburg-Bochum (HRR). If the criteria is the same, the 218 should be playable even without having the Hamburg-Lubeck route.

You don't need Hamburg-Lübeck to use the DB BR 218 in free roam on other routes, but you do need it for the timetable layer on the Maintalbahn, as stated a little bit earlier:

I don't just use the 101 in free roam (which I don't play by the way) but in all the route timetables (a lot of them) that allow the use of the 101. The Maintalbahn is the only German route that I don't have and don't intend to own. I don't know about the 218 but if like the 101 I suppose it will be included both as a freight and as a regional. The Maintalbahn? Good move, they're trying to sell it to you at all costs. :)

Just to clarify (but you might already be aware of this): contrary to the DB BR 101 that has services on a lot of routes, the DB BR 218 only has services layered into Hamburg-Lübeck and Maintalbahn, so you won't be able to use the DB BR 218 on any other route without using free roam (or manually spawning it in a timetable) as far as I understand.

I'm sure there will appear custom timetables for other routes too, as a mod, but this will be restricted to players on PC that are willing to install custom timetables. I myself will include the 218 on my Main Spessart Bahn timetable, for services coming from/going to the Maintalbahn, and maybe a single freight service from Würzburg to Lohr Süd.

To be fair, that is the standard that we have come to find (not accept) throughout the game, which I find hard to fathom considering how many times we are told things are "with the beta testers"... "currently in testing"... "being thoroughly reviewed"... "being checked as we speak"... DTG lingo is a curious mystery!

Did i miss something or why do you write a question like that in the Br 218 discussion?
Also it is like the name Alex and can be used for both genders i guess.

About the possible usages of the 218 in game. Even if it wasn't intended to see her on other routes subbing in for player trains, it is happening. Not sure which routes, but at least on Dresden-Riesa you can have a lot of freight runs with the 218 (absolutely not prototypical at all and some are hard to get moving). Might work on other routes too.

EDIT: just checked that and she is subbing in on 6 routes additional to Hamburg-Lubeck and Maintalbahn. So you potentially can drive her on 8 routes in services. But beware if she subs into RE trains with Dostos from other routes, they are not compatible door side wise.

I am pretty sure that the last time I passed through Dresden, there was even multiple of them parked around and ready for service (albeit belonging to private operators).

This is a good news for playability of the DLC, but very scary news about state of the game backend.

I Don't think it's about "trying to sell" something. The team went the extra mile to include it in more than just one route (HBK). Your cynical point of view is something you're perfectly entitled to have. But I disagree with that one, as for me it just looks like they want to give players more possibilities.

I feel more realistic than cynical. You talk about giving more possibilities, I answer you with the ICE 1 released for some time now but still usable in a very limited way when in reality it could be used almost everywhere. Always staying on the ICE theme, I recently purchased the ICE 3 Railbow and ICE 1 livery package with green band (the pro green economy one). The aforementioned liveries in the Timetable can only be used on the Kessel-Wurzburg. It doesn't seem to me that we are given more possibilities but the exact opposite. The enthusiasm with time (and the continuous own goals that on the current market, unfortunately, become a bonus rather than a malus) have extinguished him.

This sounds like the status of the 204, not the 218. Do you have a link to this information? I've only seen officially the 218 is going on 2 routes and there won't be any freight.....

Maik Goltz and his team created the 218. I assume he knows on which routes the 218 will be available.

Well ain't there egg on my face eh?
    =-)

Although my point stands.... that hasn't been released so it's new information we are just now getting. That does change previous comments based on what we knew. If it's on 6 routes and there's freight, I'll change my mind and pick up the 218 since that's an entirely different amount of content! 8 routes compared to 2 and a whole different game loop is a massive change in content.

I'm guessing that wasn't in the initial TSW release because it's for later release in updates? Like with Fife?
This is where more detailed roadmaps would be useful.

What exactly does this incompatibility mean? Are the doors unable to be opened from the loco? If so, that could have rather disastrous consequences if the AI decides to use the 218. We had this once before a few years back, where a certain AI loco that couldn’t open the DoSto doors caused an entire timetable to get stuck.

AI is not using the trains. It's only for players to select. The doors on the older stock are inverted, left is right and right is left. You can open and lose the doors from the 218 but you need to open the respectively opposite ones.

Why is it so? Also noticed it on other train combinations

If this had come with a ToD4 upgrade for HBL, I think I'd have probably picked it up on release - as it stands I think I'll leave it on the shelf until a reasonable discount comes along as I don't have Maintalbahn either. I find it very hard to go back to ToD3 (and earlier) routes now.
