At the moment, I've only noticed a small sound glitch when loosening or tightening the parking brake. At certain point sound stops 2-3 times. I think it's a small bug, audio file loop!
Driving torque transition is so good. When I was on notch 15, my desk vibrated for a moment!

Found a bug. If you spawn a 218 with a livery from the CC in the snow it looks really weird

The cab car at the rear doesn't do anything. KWS.

Doesn’t work. That is the reason why you won’t ever see two 218 behind a cab car but always in front of it. True for all cab cars, can be seen very often on the Marschbahn ICs…

That's a core bug, the GWE Hst does the same

Indeed, an engine has two notches, off and full power in my eyes

    Ah, digital drivers. Zero-One-Zero-One ... :D

I've thrashed her yesterday to Lübeck. Double-heading freight at notch 15 and 104 kph. Merciless and ignorant. But not for long until the traction blocker kicked in. And I found out that the transmission was in low gear. Had to slow her down, come almost to a stop and then could continue. I guess this is prototypical (with me being the idiot).

This loco is great fun. Big Thanks to TSG and Maik Goltz!

He said cab car at the rear, not at the front. You can do that, you just have to run around for the return trip.

You are right! The question didn’t make any sense to me, as in this case it doesn’t really matter if it is a cab car or not?! So I was assuming he meant to say it the other way around…

I wonder if there are services (in timetable mode) where the DB BR 218 pulls n-wagons. I only found the possibility from Lubeck to Hamburg to drive the cab car of the n-wagon while pushing the 218. I said to myself: "If I take it from Hamburg to Lubeck (the RE 83 service) I will drive the 218 and pull the n-wagons, the train is the same, I just have to change sides". Except that then, in Hamburg, that same train leaves again in the direction of Kiel. I tried to check the other routes too but I only found double carriages :(

I mentioned the cab car only to be exact when describing a consist :) usually dosto trains tend to have a cab car at one end, so I mentioned it :) so I was interested in knowing that if there are 2x 218s in the front, which MU setting to choose - I saw in Maik's explanation these thingies:

    218 + Dostos + 218 = ZWS
    218 + Dostos + Dosto cab car = ZWS
    218 + 218 = KWS

so my question was directed at a consist like this (from the rear to the front):
    Dosto cab car + Dostos + 218 + 218

maybe for the trailing 218 KWS and for the lead one ZWS? not sure, you guys know this stuff better than me, I still sometimes have a hard time setting up MU consists, as those arent as common in passenger trains in-game

That's a KWS (KDS) one. The cab car doesn't care here as long as you drive from the loco. Changing ends is not possible with this then though. You would need to go around with the two 218s and couple to the cab car.

Nope. That way they won't be able to talk to one another at all. You always need the same setting on those vehicles that you want to communicate with each other.

It really doesn't matter what you're pulling with a double header. For all the locomotives care, the train behind them could be made up of 12 cab cars and nothing else.

ok, so KWS in both :) will have to try a consist like that in Free roam and see how it fares against steeper gradients :) not that 218 is a snail, but when pulling those 6 dostos I could almost hear its tongue out barely managing, and at around 1.0% the speed started decreasing even on notch 15 :)

thanks again for all the advice and insights, much appreciated :) might even try and repaint 218 into OBB CityShuttle livery and roleplay OBB 2016 Hercules :) tho I assume actual Hercules might be a bit more nimble, since it is diesel electric :)

I'm still hoping for that to happen. Had a look at one of the ambassador's streams, the loco looks nice but the routes it runs on make me doubt I will ever play it. Not a huge fan of Manthalbahn and Hamburg-Lübeck I already done too much but it's the route I would probably drive it on the most. Maybe one day

I'll answer myself, maybe someone is interested. All services from Hamburg to Lubeck called RE83 (83 not 85) and with the final number 8 (example RE83 114458) are composed of n-wagon carriages instead of dosto.
