Earlier this morning, I was trying to diagnose a headphone audio issue. I ended up installing a different audio driver (which didn't help anything, unfortunately), and shortly afterwards, I noticed that the audio in the game would suddenly drop out. It happens at random, sometimes only seconds after I start the game, or about an hour later. I assume that it was the new driver that I installed, as the game was working fine yesterday, but I'm not exactly sure. I would greatly appreciate any help in solving this issue.
One theory, I have no idea if this is the problem for you: TS seemingly cannot change audio devices while the game is open. If you are using your computers speakers and then plug in your headphones, most applications running will change automatically or can be changed manually, but TS will still be certain about using your computer speakers even when the computer has said no. As a result, no sound. What could be happening is that your headphones are disconnecting and TS or your computer is getting confused. Are the headphones wired or wireless?
No, I only have headphones with this computer. Strangely enough, I backed up version 75.8a for modding purposes, and the sounds seems to be working flawlessly there, even with the new driver. Is there something in the current version's code that might be disagreeing with the audio driver that I've got?
According to the device manager, "Microsoft Realtek High Definition Audio v10.0.19041.1." I'm not a computer/audio guy, so I'm not totally sure if this is useful to you or not.
That's the standard audio driver so it shouldn't be causing any issues. Try using an admin command prompt (it must be admin) and entering the command sfc /scannow
Just ran the scan, this is what it said: "Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.4529] (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:\windows\system32>sfc /scannow Beginning system scan. This process will take some time. Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 100% complete. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag. C:\windows\system32>"
That means that something was wrong with your computer. Whether it will fix the audio errors I can't say, but it's a good thing to do regardless.
