The top entry "gershwin" seems to be a new codename. Remember, TSW4 had "Smithfield", so this could possibly be TSW5 already. What do yall think, will it be it, or not? Vote!

Sigh yet again another pointless TSW 5 thread. Nothing is proof until it is confirmed by DTG until then everything is just pure speculation

You could say that about the TSW4 threads yet they turned out to be true

Sigh, same responses as last year. Last year we had pretty accuate leaks, and some people still tried to shout down every form of specultation. In fact, we don't even know if TSW5 (or it's promised features ;)) will arrive when DTG makes it official.

Well I think it’s safe to say if DTG say it’s coming then it is

Maybe TSW5 or the upcoming TSW Tycoon.

I didn't even look at the picture before casting my vote...

I do enjoy a bit of speculation (until it gets out of hand)!

TSW Tycoon is for Roblox which means it won’t be standalone or anywhere else

I voted "Yes", but with my detective hat on, one little word is missing from the gershwin entry which is "base". So it could be placeholder for a DLC. Would help if the allocated file size was shown against the entry.

Hey so I took the screenshot and so I'm probably the first person to discover this but this is exactly how TSW 4 was leaked with "Smithfield" now the new codename is "gershwin"

Is this TSW 5? Likely, but we cannot be 100% sure. What we do know is gershwin is 100% a new game with a unique namespace in EpicDB. I personally feel there is a strong case for TSW 5 releasing this year with the three routes on the roadmap in the 4-6 months category being the three core routes.

Nothing is confirmed but I'd say it's pretty likely, that being said draw your own conclusions.

as said in the Discord, this entry got an unique namespace, so it IS a new game, I do not believe it's a DLC, or even just a placeholder for that. Maybe the "base" will still be added later, this is just the beginning.

Base Game would seem to clinch it then.

Even JD didn't get in first this time with the leak.

In all seriousness, DTG ought to be looking at how these organisations are able to casually reveal what is now a worst kept secret!

the proof is right in that epic leak, last year it was “Smithfield”, this year, it’s “Gershwin”

This is, potentially, good or bad, the first piece of solid proof towards TSW5

I wouldn't call it proof. It certainly doesn't say TSW5 on it.

However, I doubt DTG will change from their current pattern of increasing the number on the end of the title.

I firmly believe TSW5 is coming, and Gershwin could indeed be it, but it is still unfounded harmless speculation.

TSW 2025 is more likely than TSW5. One sounds modern the other sounds like this is the 5th attempt to improve the title.

That may cause confusion with Train Simulator Classic 2024. There is already enough confusion between the two.

Full support for TSW5 or anything similar. Who doesn’t want 3 routes for the price of one, kinda

Actually, I disagree with you. With the release of TSW2 was made with an upgraded engine and the intention to ditch TSW2020 and its routes. The only reason we still have TSW2020 routes is because of community backlash. However, TSW3 and TSW4 do not seem to have changed the engine of the game much, and suggest that DTG are releasing a new TSW every year - with TSW5 being this year. Gershwin, while it doesn't prove TSW5 is coming, doesn't disprove it either.

Don't get me wrong, TOD4 and Free Roam are huge new additions that a lot of work went into, but I still feel like TSW2 introduced more into the game than any other sequel.

The ability to add a train into the timetable was the biggest improvement so far.
I'm rather hoping the random weather is improved further and that random events/train faults/signal failures/TSRs can occur in the Timetable mode. Would make most routes infinitely more playable.

Sounds good until you realise it’s just an unnecessary paywall to keep receiving updates. Also they didn’t do this with Rush Hour because it was still apart of TSW2 and this went down well, it gave DTG their big annual summer release and the publicity that comes with that, gave good value for 3 routes and let regular players keep receiving fixes and updates for the same game without this arbitrary and unnecessary purchase.

I sincerely hope we can switch to a system like TSC where the base game stays the same. I'm sick of redownloading stuff every year and tons of mods being incompatible at first and also new content being locked behind the new title.

Absolutely. You should not have to pay for three routes that you may not want to gain access to bug fixes. New features are allowed to be locked behind a paywall, but bugs should be fixed for free (preferably before initial release, but that's not always possible).

That will please a lot of people, including myself no matter how unlikely.
Throw in the Ringbahn for Germany and the Metropolitan Line for the UK and the tag line for TSW5 will be... City Transport Simulator. Oo-er, hang on a minute!

Here my guess, but I’m not good at marketing.

‘TSW5 - Same old bugs, new number!’

More seriously, I always thought TSW5 would come. I just hoped I was wrong.

I’m pretty sure one of the features will be configurable external controller support. There have been a couple of posts where people have made their own controllers and Matt has responded ’DM Me’. So given that and the fact that it’s been requested quite a lot, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s one of the features. It’ll likely be a beta, because heaven forbid they should actually finish something before they announce it.

If it is TSW5 it’s a shame. I honestly feel DLC has improved a lot this year. But there is so much that was promised for TSW4 that isn’t fully delivered, I think they have a hell of a nerve asking us to pay for a new version.

I still hold out hope that it’s just a route package and maybe a couple of new beta’s in a free core update.

Don't they literally have a game coming out for Roblox called Train Sim World: Tycoon?

Well I do think TSW 5 (or equivalent) is coming, a piece on focus about their games I saw on this forum pretty much all but confirmed that to me by my reading on that.

The reveal is usually about august 20th ish so probably here more about then.

not sure about this though, possibly yes possibly no, not my expertise. :)

edit: I do think one of the biggest pieces of evidence it will, is that DTG don’t say it won’t, one “we’re not doing that this year” from them and we know it’s not their plan, staying out of the topic especially so close to the part of the year when it happens is in my view almost a certainty they know it’s coming. They don’t have to say anything other than “no” but if they don’t want to give a “no” then I don’t think it takes much thinking to know why that is :)

Probably TSW5, but they presumably also need to create a game entry for the tram sim that is only early access on Steam right now but launching fully later in the year.

It could be the Roblox version of the game.

But I'm more inclined to believe it's TSW5 or whatever title They'll give it.

Just pretty funny if you think about it, that some features like suspension that were supposed to come for TSW4 probably, just maybe won't make it to the game they were intended for xD

This is still speculation, regardless of whether it turns out to be true or otherwise. Save your righteous indignation for when it's confirmed and you inevitably don't like what you see.

People said that about TSW4, only for the straws that broke the camel's back to be BPO and the WSR remaster, of all things.

As much as I would love to deny this I rather confidently said that both TSW3 & 4 leaks like this were cobblers. So instead I'll go with the 'if you can't beat them join them' approach and say it looks like DTG Towers has struck another leak and TSW5 could be on the horizon. Of course it could be something totally different but there's only one way to find out. Sadly for some, it requires patience.
