It can't be tadami. Just for comparison, it took just trains over a year to create a route

Honestly, if the Genesis's don't come anytime soon, then I doubt we'll see them at all in TSW, instead replaced by the ALC-42 or its dual mode equivalent.

Indeed, was going to mention the Jubilee Line too but since it’s ATO I think only the third parties would attempt to recreate that, DTG hasn’t been that keen on innovating at that level.

As regards the German route, well now we have a main line diesel which can layer in, three DMU’s albeit one flawed and various shunters, was driving Pegnitztalbahn on TSC last night and thinking, “I wonder”.

In the meantime here’s an even bigger cheese to roll down the hill. What happens to TSW next year with Windows 10 coming out of support in October? Will DTG, or even Steam for that matter, still release for Win 10 or will it go Win 11 only. As one of the lucky people whom the MS compatibility check just looks at my hardware and laughs as regards Win 11 that could be a real dilemma, if I haven’t bought a new PC or updated the motherboard and CPU etc by then.

Hmm, I wonder what I would do as a business. By going with Windows 11 only,
    I gain:
    • nothing
    I lose:
    • access to hundreds of millions of computers

Sounds to me like a playstation 4 situation for PC. 50% of the Playstation owners is still on PS4, TSW is still on PS4.

Without derailing the thread though, there are wider concerns. Are companies dealing with e-commerce going to want to interface PC’s no longer receiving security updates? I certainly don’t want to do on line banking or other transactions involving use of a debit or credit card on a PC that is no longer as secure as it could be. I am fortunate in that I can easily afford to buy a new PC, or get the parts to do an upgrade. The only obstacle is convincing the wife, who’s stance is why pay out £1200 to replace something that works quite nicely. However others might not be so lucky and it’s certainly something I would like to hear from DTG on in due course - whether they plan to continue developing TSW for both Win 10 and Win 11 or move to Win 11 only going forward.

Will DTG finally release a new UK diesel or electric locomotive, or will yet another class 66 grace our hard drives?
I know what I’m betting on!

TSW5?? Heck I'm still trying to figure out what I got for my money with TSW4.
    Viz:
    Scenario Planner upgrades: Major problems.
Livery Designer: Major problems. Never use anyway.
UI Menus: so cosmetic as to be unnoticeable.
Photo Mode: Should I stop a train full of commuters who are late for work to take snaps for my next dinner party?
    PC Editor: Major problems.
    Haptics: Er, I'm on PC.
Volumetric Fog: Comes and goes quite suddenly at times, would like to switch it off permanently.
Suspension Physics: ( if it ever comes ) Thanks but no thanks. Motion sickness? I'll pass.
Plus 3 routes that I rarely play anymore. My fault for buying the deluxe package.

I'd like an option to just buy routes that I really like and wait and see with any core features, in case they don't work well or even show up at all. However, we already know that new routes going forward won't play nice without the new version.

I don't want to utter the nasty words, " nickel and dimed. " ........unless I have to.

Most of those points are valid, but i really like photo mode- railfanning is a big hobby, so it's nice to see a digital representation of it. I just wish you could use that UI to make permanent changes to the graphics settings- like i'd always have exposure bumped down a little and saturation bumped up, but that's beside the point lol.

Also, I really like the haptic feedback- some of us PC players prefer a controller (gasp!), and it adds immersion IMO.

You know I've sometimes thought about using a controller (I might even have one lying around somewhere ), but I don't have great dexterity anymore and teaching an old dog new tricks......Well, I'm rather attached to my Raildriver.

Oh yeah, fair enough, use whatever works best for you of course- i just think there's a conception out there that nobody on PC uses a controller, so things like haptics aren't really a valuable feature, but there are dozens of us lol!

I started TSW on Xbox, so that's where my muscle memory is lol

The routes that go into "the next big release" are all unannounced. They have never announced a route as dlc then put it into a core update as far as I am aware.

It's something when I first played Pegnitztalbahn I thought, this could go in TSW. It's that TSW'esque route. Especially if it was a Joe Table (lol).

I had the same feeling with Dresden Riesa when I played it on TSC after release.

    Heres hoping?

The theory is San Bernardino was announced during the March direct because of the LIRR situation so DTG thought "we gotta give the American crowd something" so they revealed San Bernardino super early with screenshots from Antelope Valley because the route was nowhere close to being done.

It's also on the 4-6 months section of the roadmap alongside the unknown UK and German routes.

Maybe they planned for San Bernardino to be released earlier but plans changed.

Yeah I agree with this. It was obvious that the route was still in a very early stage of development, and wouldn’t have been announced if it wasn’t for the LIRR delays.

Also considering it is grouped with the unknown UK and German route, I think it’s safe to assume this will be one of the core routes of the summer release. I do find this quite disappointing, as it is incredibly similar to last years Antelope Valley Line, but oh well.

oooh, three routes in bundle? usually those have been quite nice... remember Rush Hour, or Journeys, or how it was called, that one had London Commuter, Dresden Riesa and Boston Sprinter back then? if they give us three good routes to look forward to, why not, hell yea :)

Normally there are regional bundles where you basically just pay for one route + new core game. It's not like you have to buy all three and pay for them, but only for one. And you'd probably buy that same route, even if it was a seperate route DLC for TSW4.
I don't really get why most of the people ignore this fact and pretend that all 3 routes are to be paid.

What leaves me to believe it could possibly be TSW5 is the lack of news in the last few roadmaps. There have only really been specs of information but other then that it has been relatively quiet... which leads me to believe it's certainly a possibility as any other content in development would be for a newer TSW. Could be proven wrong on Thursday though!

Forum participation by DTG also seems to have fallen off. Obviously they all have their jobs to do but the radio silence has been quite noticeable. Probably don’t want to risk any goofs or bloopers that might give the game away.

Or maybe it's because in general DTG doesn't interfere with speculation threads? Or the fact that it's summer and a lot of them might be on annual leave? The DTG-doesn't-say-anything-so-it-confirms-everything-narrative is as much recycled as the BR 185.2.

and there is lots of bugs and stuff to work on - just remember the recent doors issue caused by updates + 218 thats been bugging quite a lot of ppl... and I assume they want to solve at least some of the stuff thats going on so the game is ready for expert 101 and such... I guess? :)))

I agree ( as I suspect many of us US fans do ). Since SBL and AVL derive from the same trip to California last year, San Bernardino is really just Metrolink Part 2. Straight, one track commuter line much of it running in an expressway median. ( more flying trucks and school buses? ;) )

I'll look at the previews, but can't get excited about this route. Was hoping for something more imaginative and fresh from DTG this year. If we didn't already know it, freight is really dead I guess.

    Surprise us Dovetail??!!

Sorry, ignorant european here, but I have the feeling this is rather a problem resulting from the real world. US-railway isn't that great it used to be. Afaik most of the US railway seems to be like that. And the parts that don't look like that like NEC? Well, at the last NEC route i've read a lot of people saying that this is boring, too.

So - and I mean this without any disrespect - what route would "surprise" you?

US is like - if an area has great trains/service, it blows minds, and if not, it straight up sucks in absurd ways :D ... or, as I say, if the US really put its mind to it, like really make federal-wide effort/push for it like they did decades ago with highways, they would blow China's network with one hand up their... :D

anyway, see Brightline's efforts tho, while not perfect, their stuff in Florida is a big success, and now they are on their way to be the first to the highspeed race in US in California... so yea, efforts, or better said, first attempts are made to close the gap between Europe and US in terms of passenger rail

like... these days Austria is doing lots of great things across its network, and not just in Vienna... look at Semmering Tunnel, Brenner Tunnel, half of Koralmbahn already operational, second half in a year or two, and I am just scratching the surface here (plus various upgrades of existing lines - double, even four tracking, or more, electrification, removal of level crossings on high performance routes, upgrades to 160 or 200 kph etc)

I don't really know how to answer the first part of your post except to say it's very misguided.

As for the " boring " comment, that's an opinion, so......

What would surprise me? Well, you've been around long enough to remember all the North American routes beginning with SPG which launched TSW. Something like that. Or, if not freight, a fresh Amtrak route.

Pacific Surfliner, which can also start in LA, going to Oceanside, and can reuse Metrolink and BNSF stock, and has more going for it if DTG puts the effort in.

It just lacks the challenge of grades.

Nor would I expect them to, same as they wouldn't be seen in Enough Is Enough or commenting on ideas in Suggestions. But I still get the vibe they are backing off interaction at present.

Giving the amount of speculation in this very thread and when you remind people it is just speculation until DTG confirm anything and they get angry at facts I don’t blame them for not even engaging these type of the threads.

But no locos or wagons to deliver it.

Tell you what DTG, we'll lend you a couple of old F7's and some coal cars from CRR to haul some coal from Port Talbot to Chatham. :D

That should keep the office warm enough for you to keep churning out those electric doo-dads you're so fond of. :D

I remember last year, I think the devs were quiet on the topic of the new TSW version being released and it was around this time when not much was going on in terms of development news, so there is definitely a possibility the next version of TSW is in the works. I think a picture of some code or something gave it away last year
