I am aware, but I might aswell just let this run further until the moderators themselves have to close this. Though, I hope this will be kept alive until TSW5 is announced either way.

I'm afraid this is a new TSW, unfortunately... At first I thought it was like TSW2020 was with the original TSW. But I think I was wrong! The UK route will definitely be the ECML extension or a new WCML (Avanti). We already know the US route... DE route will be set in a new German area, which we don't have in game yet!

It's just my opinion! I'm hoping for something close to French border (Strasbourg - Karlsruhe) or something up North.

Personally l don’t want TSW 5, l have all the content so far so plenty to play with. The only thing that would change my mind is if included content was what l would like.

However, as prices for the original TSW 4 release products are offered as crazy give away prices in the current sale, l would advise everyone not to buy TSW 5 until it’s cheap next summer!

Which by then would be pointless as TSW6 would be on the horizon.

And herein lies one of the issues with this business practice, the diminishing returns as people are disincentivised to buy on release, knowing what to expect.

Not really, you just enjoy it a bit later than those who bought on release. I've done that with several games over the years and in fact on the PS5 I stuck with TSW3.

If the TSW5 content is what everyone is expecting, 3 rather mundane routes and no really new, attractive features ( which may well be delayed like in TSW4 ) it may be advisable to wait until a " Blackpool " comes along before investing in TSW5. Or just buy the cheapest, most basic package.

Having bought the deluxe TSW4 package, I'm not sure I got my money's worth to be honest. Except for the photo feature which I never use, haptics which I cannot use, all I got were 3 routes I rarely play and some things like scenario planner and an editor neither of which work very well. Oh, plus the suspension physics ( how do I access that feature exactly? )

This is exactly my strategy with whatever comes next. Unless there is something I really must have, I’ll stay 6 months behind the release to get sale prices.

I have so much TSW DLC and I’m mainly a TSC player anyway, I won’t miss not having something on day one.

Now watch DTG announce a route through Berlin and the Riviera Line and I’ll break this rule immediately!

Must admit apart from doing a bit on ECML I probably did one or two trips up the canyon on AVL (didn't relish nearly two hours driving from the cab car heading into LA) and even less on Vorarlberg which turned out to be just another electric bus service through flat ground with some distant hills occasionally. Flying Scotsman was a joke, probably the only item to get my juices flowing was the Vectron.

As to the routes which came along after, well Blackpool is great yes but even then after a while the limited distance particularly loco hauled started to wear thin.

Same here! However looking at all the content I have in TSC there are probably 1000's of hours of gameplay there and that's before looking at the existing content in TSW, where Simrail goes, Run 8 et al. Plus the non railway stuff like GTA, the truck games, plus I just bought Sniper Elite 4 at bargain basement price in the sale. So TSW5, assuming it is that, this time really will have to blow me away or I'll wait until Easter next year when it's going for £10.

Three new routes all at once is always fun. I don't care what they decide to name it.

Snap. Currently slowly working my way through the ETS2 Steam achievements after having completed those of ATS. They are admittedly my favourite “chill with a beer” games (have a sitty-down wheel+pedals) The Sniper Elite series is very good once you get used to the controls and game mechanics. Have the latest v5 on my “bought but not yet played” Steam collection list.

Me too. I have a veritable lifetime's amount of playable content between TSC and TSW, so why am I always looking for something new?

I suppose it's the same mentality that has me browsing through magazines looking at shiny new cars and rocket-propelled computers when I have perfectly good ones already.

Yet I'm still hoping for something in TSW that will get me back playing more often. It can be very addictive. I'm not seeing it with the current management though. It seems like they're on an " emu highway " with no foreseeable exits.

But let's be real, we'd all be a lot happier if it was a bundle of those three routes, but core updates to the game were not tied to owning it, Rush Hour style. Pretty sure we'd happily still buy the bundle in the knowledge that any new core game features would be present for everyone, even if only implemented in new routes released from then onwards.

It hasn't been confirmed, has it? It hasn't been long since DTG Direct Spring 2024, and that stream announced quite a few things. Moreover, if TSW5's existence is confirmed, why would they write "new content" on the TSW4 roadmap? This is completely different from the situations with TSW3 and TSW2's July roadmaps in the past. After all, this new content wouldn't be released for TSW4, so writing it on the TSW4 roadmap wouldn't make any sense.

The roadmap isn't tied to a specific game. All it does it let you know whats coming next, regardless of which game it's associated with.

    1. There are several new database entries for a new game on both Steam and Epic, Epic lists it as an base game, Steam though lists multiple entries in connection with several recently added depots/manifests/packages containing TSW content currently available and unpublished.

    2. The new content on the roadmap may or may not be for TSW 4, it could be for 4 and "5", or it was intended to not specifically say that it is for "TSW 5"

    Actually, totally the opposite...

Last TSW2 Roadmap: Not really a Roadmap, mostly Island Line and general explanations...no 1st Party releases annonced.
Last TSW3 Roadmap: No 1st Party releases announced, besides Glossop Line (last release for TSW3), no 1st Party releases on the roadmap

So, well, 'Last TSW4 Roadmap', six new releases for TSW4 announced...

He might be on temporary vacation after an argument with another member on the forums that happened on a now deleted thread in the off topic section.

Since you cannot go to his profile on the forums, but his PFP is still there.

As much as anything I hate all of my installed mods becoming useless and having to start that laborious process over, taking months as assorted modders update their files (if they ever do)

    Yes, as in this...

    tsw4roadmap.jpg

    or as in this...

    tsw4rmforum.jpg

Just read the words...so all the new DLC are coming for Train Sim World 4. As it is definitely tied to TSW4 as it is a TSW 4 Roadmap and not a TSW5 or just TSW (?) Roadmap.

Well, actually no, I still remember a QA stream with DTG Protagonist years back, where he actually stated, that this kind of clear and loud 'announcement' on the roadmap is chosen, because of preventing DTG from unfulfillable expectations and embarrassment of the customers. So, no announcements on a TSW 4 Roadmap for an upcoming TSW 5. Or to say it loud and clear, they wouldn't announce TSW 4 Add-ons on a roadmap, if these would be bound to TSW 5.

Does that mean the DB 420 will be available on TSW2, 3 and 4 when or if it gets released?

Well, we will see, would be a pity, if they lost that clear and understandable rule...

420 isn't a DTG add-on, and appeared on the roadmap, because the community wanted it, after it was remarked by the developer, that there might be a chance, that it will appear someday in TSW, so well, 3rd party projects can't be the measurement....

By the way, releasing a big three part summer core update for TSW 4 and a months later, releasing TSW5? Nah, don't really sound economical viable. Updating an 'Out of time Version', while the next version will be out a months later? They would have 'stolen' TSW 5 the basic arguments to be purchased. With the summer core update they have released a quite understandable argument, that there will not be a TSW 5 released a months after the massive summer core update. Or to say it economically, updating TSW 4, just to release TSW 5 a months later? Don't think DTG wants to commit financial suicide.

I see two reasons why there couldn't be a TSW5:
    • Dovetail direct is also going to cover other of DTGs games (as far as I understood) - imagine being introduced to TSW5 AND Ciry Transport Tram Alpha AND TSW: Tycoon...you will soon start to scream I would say:o
    • Note that these 5 new announcements are in the 4 to 6 months section - that means these will be released from november to january (if I counted right!?) - dont you think that this is a little bit too late even for Tsw?:|
    But on the other side...
    • The database entry
    • Again a Just trains route to be revealed at Dovetail Direct
    • Things I probably forgot:(
Two things I like to note:
    • IF there will be a TSW5, I hope that the editor makes a good transition from 4 to 5...or still works then....
    • Note the BR 101 In IC-livery....very interesting!
I hope someone will think about these things!:)

TSW5 has been confirmed for a while now as per PullUp Enetrtainments revenue beakdown. Clearly states TSW is a yearly base game release on the 1st line. So for the newbies expect to pay every year for an update.

Or you can see it as getting 5 pieces of DLC in a bundle, with an update.

... and came back in disguise as "trainsimulationuser" while banned, only to reveal himself pretty quickly. Nothing learned, and what he played with Schmalf was just disgusting. Enjoying your predicted permaban, Schmalf? Nothing wrong with revealing DMs of someone bullying you - he fell into his own trap. You're not his first victim, making it public was good.

Pride goes before fall. Those "real" drivers... ts ts. And nobody explained the difference between a Class 390 and 91 to him ;)

    1. Adding DTG Direct Summer content to the TSW4 roadmap is unusual. If this month's roadmap is not just for TSW4 but also applicable to 5, the article and title could simply say TSW without adding the 4.
    2. SteamDB depots are only used for the current game. If TSW5 is to be released, DTG has no need to apply for so many new depots on TSW4. The EpicData basegame is hard to definitively say it's TSW5, as DTG could be developing other new games.
    3. TSW4 was added to XGP just this February, and as of today, there's no news about it leaving the XGP lineup. In contrast, TSW3 announced its departure from XGP a month before TSW4's annouced. If TSW5 is coming out, what's the point of TSW4 still being on XGP?

Of course, arguing about whether TSW5 exists or not is pointless. Let's wait for the August 20th stream to see what happens.

That's empirically correct. It would need 100+ new depots ("Train Sim World® 5 compatible" plus new releases) to be created for a new appID, not TSW4's. I'm not aware of such a leak, and that trustworthy french blogger hasn't revealed it either.

The recent amount of updates also doesn't speak for a 5 this year - usually there's no effort been put into soon obsolete games. On the other hand, these fixes would flow into the TSW 5 build - so not really an argument.

Given that we all paid for TSW4 features that were never delivered (only now with a promise of delivering small part of them after 90% of the product lifetime was reached), I do not really see how this would be harmful for DTG economy in literally any possible way.

At least the night lighting is good, so no way is that TSW - 4, 5, 6 or even 7!

And memo to DTG’s route building and art department. Yes this is what running in the city should look like after dark, not some medieval village…

Throwing my 2 pence into this discussion after stocking up on Steam's DLC sale for TSW4, but...

...Do we really need a new TSW game every year, with many train packs and routes not being interchangeable? Talk about pointlessly fragmenting the player base when you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between TSW 2, 3 and 4 as it is.

The store pages for TSW DLCs are not fixed like TSC's, which means that every time a new generation of TSW is released, corresponding DLCs need to apply for new depot IDs to build their store pages. For example, the TSW3 Peak Forest DLC depot ID is 2259150, while on TSW4 it's 2386171. You can compare the data on SteamDB to draw relevant conclusions.

I can tell the difference between a pre and post TSW3 route, the lighting effects are very different.

Much other features are probably not so obvious.

I wonder how much the player base is fragmented? Many of the angry I'm not getting TSW4 brigade seem to now magically possess it.
