Not much to say other than take it or leave it. It's fully up to them and the shareholders how to run their business whether we like it or not. The decision to buy is always yours though. Free market economy.

I've bought the EA NHL series from 1992 (Sega) to 2001 (PS2) and then stopped. Decided NHL '94 was the most enjoyable version of all. Still play it on an emulator.

well looks like we get a pink or purple if matts had anyhting to do with it load screens and a little train on the loading bar does not justify a new game did they not learn from there repetitive and repeated fishing games wich are dead and gone now i have like 5 fishing games by dovetail

Future is looking terribly bleak for creative artists. AI is improving exponentially. A day's work for a human is now done in five minutes. (The slightly horizontally off-centered "5" was my mistake)

But why are people still hoping on a season pass like Rush Hour? You preorder something that still needs to be build and when it's released it's not what was promised because there was not enough time. I prefer to have a bundle that is ready to play rather than a voucher promising you will get stuff at some date that still can be delayed.

I agree. Core update free, like we have been getting and pay for any dlc in which people prefer to buy. Keep more people interested that way.

 

I remember being so hyped for TSW2, infact most of the community was, can't say the same for the past 2 releases.

Man I miss the TSW2 days, they were peak TSW imo.

TSW2 when everything was dark, no thanks. I'm very happy with how the game has developed since.

Yes there are issues and decisions I disagree with, but I play it far more now than I ever used to with very few problems.

 

Yes you might be right I remain to be convinced either way. Would they have announced it so early if it is a totally new iteration, knowing how the forum likes to get it's knickers in a twist!

 

I think they learned from last years fighting over a new version. Some were really taken by surprise that the rumour mill was correct. I even felt sorry for those that would refuse to see what was becoming very obvious until Dovetail Direct dropped.

 

Possibly but it will happen either way. A lot of the unpleasantness happened around the TSW4 release.

People say they should read the room, I imagine they read sales figures more. This forum is a very small section of users and not everyone on here feels angry about any new iterations.

 

Unless it's a brand new game separate from tsw on UE5 next Gen only, I'm not interested. Tsw has so much DLC I can only have half installed, and still I crash to dashboard constantly, and I'm on series x.

 

Lucky me to have a fast and unlimited internet connection. Lucky DTG that the dial-up days are gone. That would've been a royal sh!tstorm.

But this will be definitely a sale purchase for me, if at all. Unless they come up with some really exciting route or addon (like NID made me buy TSW3).
We'll see, anyway Happy Beta-Testing for the first day purchasers.

 

Exactly my view. We will see on the Direct what TSW4 meant for sales. Is there a TSW5 than the sales probably went up and it is very clear which room was read. The room with the most people in it.

 

I still don't see how moving to UE5 fixes really anything for any train sim aside from pretty graphics.

 

I think that at this point, if TSW5 wasn't the plan, most companies would probably have come out and been clear about that by now - just to avoid the slide in sentiment.

I remain open-minded; I recognise the value in these releases in terms of routes and locos bundled together, and I also recognise that it's important for a business to have a reliable, regular point at which they can bring in some solid income.

But I still have concerns around features/issues from the current edition still not being fixed/added (not to mention the concerns about new issues being added), and most of all the prospect of re-downloading the entire range once again (I'm a collector, I own every DLC except the strange Christmas one, and I want it all ready to go because I jump around from route to route a lot).

I'm sure we'll find out in the fullness of time, and until then I'm not going to spend time worrying about it.

 

True enough. Enjoy what we have and weigh up what comes later. As I’ve mentioned plenty to do whether TSC or TSW or trying to learn Sniper Elite 4 so I don’t get unalived after five minutes in the first level…

 

DTG using UE5 won't change a thing! They don't even use UE4 to it's full potential

 

For those surprised at the imminent, but as yet unannounced, release of TSW5, I can also reveal that Christmas Day will be released on December 25th and will come bundled with Boxing Day, with New Years Day following as an update a week later. It will cost the equivalent of your December salary and in return you will get a Turkey Dinner, several Lynx Africa Gift Sets and two days incarcerated with your family unable to play TSW 2/3/4 (whichever was the last version you bought).

 

FIFA has a reason to bring out a new game every year, namely relegation and promotion, and new transfers. What excuse do DTG have?

 

I miss trailers like what we got for TSW2020. If and when TSW5 is announced (We know it's coming), I hope we get a trailer like this. (I'm more than likely still not buying it though)

 

Players buy what they like and not everyone likes the same thing. That's why there are options to pick from. Even farm sim 25 is getting criticism the same as tsw

 

Am I the only one that hasn't decided yet on buying TSW5? People claiming not buying it, people claiming they will buy it. People claiming this time the game won't sell because they are not buying.

I must have missed all the info and trailers because for now I don't know what TSW5 will bring. We only will know if TSW5 will sell when it is announced because then I will make up my mind and that decision will make or break the bank for DTG. The 1 copy I will or will not buy will be so hardly appreciated or missed by DTG. (sarcasm)

Hard disagree imo.

TSW4 is the best the game has been, technically speaking. I hope TSW5 continues that in the right direction.

I have issues with the overall direction and management of the franchise, but there have definitely been improvements under the hood.

 

It depends on what is included. I'll be surprised if I don't buy it. Even if I don't on release, something like the JT route or some other content down the line will ensure I do.

As you say we know nothing about it so can't really make a decision. We don't even know what it will be called.

I am sure we had the prophets of doom last year, and the year before and the year before, DTG seem to have survived so far despite ignoring the advice of some of the experts on these forums.

 

If people buy it I hope they enjoy and it brings in a legion of fans, but considering that the two main selling points for TSW4 are either in beta mode still or being very very slowly rolled out, I'm in two minds about getting TSW5.

 

The timing of the harvest is vitally important!

 

if it has the potential to change a certain graphic issues with the current setup, I’ll take it.

 

I can almost certainly say that I will buy it. Sooner or later there will be a DLC that I want enough to get it.

What I can also say is that it will only be day one if there is something very special as part of the release. I’ve got so much train stuff now, I don’t ’need’ to buy any more. So I’ll probably wait for a sale. It won’t take long for it to be discounted.

I don’t like yearly releases. Especially when TSW4 isn’t yet fully released.

I also don’t like having to re download everything (I have fast internet but both 3 and 4 have launched while I’ve been travelling- TSW4 gave me an estimated of 8 days on my Dad’s WiFi!).

No point denying that I’ll pick it up eventually. I enjoy the game too much to make an insignificant protest with my wallet.

 

I never find that much of a problem myself, and my wifi is certainly no champion of a race in total I don’t think my over or around 200GB of TSW would ever take over 24hrs.

though if you use the console on things like YouTube or other games you will certainly slow it down.

 

At home it takes less than 20 minutes. My Dad has really slow internet and doesn’t have the option to upgrade. However long it takes is still bad for what is essentially the same core game.

No doubt they’ll manage to break a lot of mods as well.

However good it looks better to wait, let the issues get resolved, the mods get updated and pick it up cheaper in a sale. Can’t really lose then.

 

back on this topic, the class 380 isn’t even public release yet and I already have found it’s on the central monitor and right hand side below the CCTV screens (possibly other places)

It's still useless speculation, regardless of whether or not it's true. Why waste so much emotional energy on this? There's nothing you can do or say that will change it, and you don't know what 'it' will actually turn out to be in terms of content anyway.

 

If it is a new iteration and I mean IF, hopefully they drop old gen consoles amd focus on the current gen

 

But not as much as TSW, while having significantly more players. Nor is there a literal battlefield on their forums, I wonder why..

 

Surprise would be if at the end there is no TSW5.
