Oh dear god... What have we done to deserve Flixtrain…
    upload_2024-7-23_22-0-25.png
... :|... :( Anyway!!!! In my opinion, it would be something like Leipzig-Berlin or Dresden-Berlin.
PS. One of the few railway realities that could easily remain there, Irl. Without entering this game!

Horrible. Hurts my eyes how they ruin a good looking loco. (Loosely quoting Maik: "All that work on the mesh just so somebody can pour a bucket of paint on it...")

Are country regional editions (or whatever they are usually called) usually available for preorder at the same time with standard edition? And does loyalty + preorder discounts apply for them? How was it with TSW4?
Because, if we were getting wcml, vectron and San bernardino line, I would personally grab only the uk edition. But of course its too early to speak about this

And tbf, this is really wishful thinking to not only upgrade the BML a little bit by adding that Class 377/7s on to WCML South route.
The current 377 running to milton Keynes is just wrong because there were no /7 nor /2. And unless the route does involve (milton-) watford to Wembley central (and better yet to the point where we can switch to 3rd rail and ending a service there). Having the Class 377/7 would just give more variety on the WCML. And also fix the issue where a 377/4 is running a service to milton back in the BML route which it wasnt meant to.

And then again, DTG or any 3rd parties can push as many DLCs related to the route considering how many rolling stock runs on the WCML South. But i think thats either limited due to DTG laziness or as everybody said memory issues (seriously is there a way we can solve memory issues?)

Don't get me wrong, but with all sincerity, till this very moment, I have thought that flixtrain was a meme but not a real thing.

Hey, if that’s the price we pay for Vectron passenger services, I’m all for it.

Besides a splash of green among all the red will be a nice break.

Right?!? The Vectron model we have is fantastic- i'm looking forward to driving it more. I can't see the livery from the cab if i truly end up hating it lol.

That being said- was the Vectron part of the leak from the weekend? I don't remember sering it...

You're right, it should. But I can't forget the service I was on from London to Birmingham, when they terminated at Milton Keynes without warning or explanation, and no other service was going through that day for our ticket. A kind Virgin Trains crew member let us jump on his train, which came along after ours, while another rail worker ran down the platform and shouted at him not to let us on. Luckily the Virgin guy was having none of it and off we went, homeward bound.

Bear in mind we'd started off in Milan that morning and not encountered an issue on any train through Europe until we got to London Euston and met a signal failure as the service was about to depart, followed by the disgraceful ditching at Milton Keynes. Yay.

I’m not sure we’ll need a huge discount or any discount at all with the game already being more or less given to us for free. Let me explain. Last year for TSW4 there were regional starter packs that contained one route and they were the same price as a standard route DLC so the game was included at no extra cost. The bigger bundles came with several routes and trains at a combined cost of less than they would be as DLC plus the game included at no extra cost. If it’s the same this year with similar bundles available there really isn’t any need for a loyalty discount on top of what is already a great deal. If there is a discount I will happily take it but it will likely be a very reasonable deal without it if previous years are anything to go by.

I sadly think despite being highly requested Berlin won't make it again. For Berlin-Leipzig the full route would be needed as these trains do not stop in Wittenberg but I think they did some time ago, possible if the timetable is based on that, so a shorter route like initially in TS Classic would be possible too. In general the landscape would not be the problem, there is not much available but the stations especially in Berlin and Leipzig are interesting, despite Rapid Transit being quite outdated I still like the underground stations in Leipzig. With Dresden we have 2 routes already, so Leipzig would be more likely as a connection but most likely would be something in the West again, maybe Frankfurt. Maybe we will get some hint ahead of the Dovetail Direct but Germany urgently needs a route around Berlin or in general in the northeast, expansion to Dresden-Riesa may still be possible, maybe we still get an extension to Leipzig, one to Berlin via Elsterwerda would be too long.

I might be completely misrembering here so apologies if that's the case, but I think Lukas said a route with Frankfurt was being considered or something along the lines of that.

Also the flixtrain company serves Frankfurt so it might be featured in the German route.

Re Flixtrain, looking at their web site their services are not that frequent so I see this maybe coming to an existing route as a layer (Koln to Aachen or HRR) rather than being the focal point of the new European route. Anyway, that does remind me to give Fernbus one last try, though it was still pretty awful last time I played it. Couldn’t even get the luggage door on the coach open!

I did play it when it came out but the problem with modern bus sims is that they still can’t find a way to get anywhere near as good as OMSI2.

I’ll have to download it & give it a go but between that, The Bus & Bus Sim 21, I pretty much stopped trying with anything other than OMSI.

Looks like I need to reinstall and give it a try, then.

Anecdotally, driving along the M4 a couple of times recently I’ve seen Flixbuses on the eastbound carriageway so presumably they now operate in the UK as well?

Re OMSI2, last couple of times it just kept crashing on loading and even when I get it working end up having to use the mouse to control and steer the bus. Just cannot get the joypad to steer without harsh, sudden movements.

Bus sim 21 ain't that good. I'm really hoping omsi or the bus will come to console tho. As I don't have a PC I miss out on those games.

Yup. Flixbus operate in the UK. They also have a good few Scottish services with a Scotland livery too. I've seen them do a few services from Glasgow to London and Edinburgh to other places within Scotland and the UK.

I agree, it's a relaxing drive spoiled only by the lack of variety. An HST or two would make it more immersive.

I would love if they improved the implementation of safety systems on Antelope Valley Line - I mean, right now the only thing there that "punishes" you is if you forget to acknowledge the alerter... but aside from points deduction if you overspeed the maximum authorized speed, you are not penalized or punished in any way if you ignore signal aspects... and dunno how about you guys, but I prefer such implementation of safety systems that requires you to follow the rules of the track and such and if not, you face the consequences, and thus, you learn until you dont get punished anymore :)

like, even AWS implementation in many trains in the game is kinda benevolent, lets you get away with a lot, but at least it gives you penalty if you dont give a damn about even basic rules :)

Could well be the Heathrow-Bristol service. I hate to say it as I prefer trains any day of the week, but it's a cheap way to get around the country. I did a gig in Bristol where the travel wasn't paid and Flixbus worked out way cheaper than either driving or taking the train.

On a lighter note, if there was to be a Flix Train in TSW, I insist all passengers have to look as miserable as possible. Because that's my experience from trips to Germany! :D

I like the level of safety systems in German trains. It makes you think, it makes you to be afraid of the next time when you overspeed and the in cab voice will start cursing you with unspellable words.

I think an extra 'l' got in there when they were talking what to do next, so instead of fixing a train there might be Flix Train.

Although we know that PTC basically has no chance of being implemented, this is interesting to think about. In AVL we are presented with signal aspects that are not that easy to see. However, I wouldn't say they can be ignored, because it is possible to be held at a station to wait for an oncoming service. I have also found Ventura and Antelope trains sometimes follow each other closely and are held for one another where the line splits. And, there are frequently trains being held at Union Station. On top of that, many station stops present with red aspects due to dispatch beyond. So, if driving without signals presented for you in the HUD, I think it can pose a challenge. The funny thing is, if the signals were easier to see, this would probably pose less of an issue.

It's either you get more traffic/gameplay while sacrificing some realism or have less traffic/gameplay by focusing heavily on realism. Can't please everyone. Remember it's made by a single developer who worked endlessly day and night to bring this to tsw

It can be balanced, as long as DTG is willing. For example, if you really need to operate, choose "Expert Mode"; if you just want to see the scenery and don't want to concentrate on the operation, choose "Novice Mode"

    From my point of view:

    - First to say, it is really sad what have happened, about leaking information and images of a new TSW game.
    Mainly coming from internal collaborators!.

    - Second: if what was leaked is all true (what it seems to be at least...), about my personal "taste", it is really a poor, new version of the game!.
WCML seems to be the only very interesting thing for me.

    - Third: To have the Flixtrain which it is just a -"horrible full green color scheme" for me -, repaint of locomotive and passenger wagons, we already have.
Then the ICE 2 cab car. It is just ok for me. Considering we already have the ICE 1, with both locomotives with same cab. So nothing new.

Note: Expert ICE train, will be included, or it will be a separate add-on?

    - Fourth: another UK suburban / regional train, similar to the ones we already have.

    - Fifth: so nothing really new (apart from WCML), considering new locomotives and EMUs or other kind of trains.

    - There are some new "functionalities", like to check tickets, which it is not interesting for me. I like to drive trains.
Of course no problem about they be there, but not helps to the purchase decision..

So for the first time ever, since I bought TSW2020, I have big doubts about purchasing this "new" TSW5, at release date!

Of course for final decision, and to be fare with DTG, I will wait for the corresponding streaming about the new TSW5 version of the simulator.

Wdym its a single developer who brought TSW. DTG have an entire team. Or are you just spouting out bull. And just like-
said, it can be possible if they pick up their act together and listen the players. It seriously act as if they arent listening to the player base at all. or apparently due to time they cut routes at some illogical point on a route, they shouldve delay the route and added more before pushing it out to the public.

ICE 2 is a bit different, not only the cab car, I think we still get the regular ICE 1 again but nothing real leaked yet.

I must say it has been a bit of a pain to read but I think I have caught up with all the drama, out of all the weeks to go away I chose the most interesting, and well you wouldn't believe there was a bag. I would be rather pleased if the British TSW5 route turned out to be a nice long IC run, even if it may hypothetically be on the line near the coast on the west of the country. Just hope they deliver on whatever the route may be.
