no i'm not using reshade. i was using the rtx hdr filter from nvidia so maybe that's the culprit

That could be it, getting the HDR is a bit of a task, getting it to look good, I tried many ways and just gave up because I didn't like the way it looked.

what's going on with it? excessive stuttering? washed out colors? worse than 555.99? I heard that one was probably one of the worst performing drivers Nvidia ever put out

Try reverting to the driver "Sharon E" posted above and see how that works, and maybe try Reshade, and maybe start with v5.8, that is if you really want to try the Fake HDR, it's a bit touchy and a lot of testing, but that is up to you. I follow this Guide to install just the drivers for Nvidia, audio, PsyX, and the Visual C Runtime. I'm using the Enhanced ini by Jetwash and I will try the Reshade again to see what things look like.

Do you feel that you may need to do that? It will take some time. And you may not need to do that.

you're right about that. i'll try to avoid that as much as possible. i'll just play around with settingg and see which one works

And this was done without windows hdr, with fake hdr enabled inside reshade, using the enhancement and lighting feature, and with nvidia gaming driver 552.44 which is a step down from the previous version, just to see which one performs better

That is an issue with TSW4 and as I understand it, has been from day one, the enhanced ini by Jetwash does make the game and the experience much better, but once you run a full scenario be it time table or not it builds the shader cache and while doing so it will get stutters and hitches, but once that cache is built up it should not be a major issue, yes a little here and there but nothing major.

Thank you.You saved me the trouble of maybe having to do a clean install of windows. BTW, anyone tried out the new game ready drivers yet? 560.70? If so how are they working for you? This game in particular?

Happy to assist, and glad to hear it all worked out for you, as for the new drivers 560.70, I have not installed them, because of the way I have my drivers installed, I only install more updated versions If I need to or must, I avoid fresh off the line drivers, that is just me personally.

    thank yu
i've not tried it with lirr 2 yet though. and the stuttering you saw at the end was thanks to nvidia app beta shadowplay. even in geforce experience i can't seem to find a proper video on settings to stop stuttering on playback. the game will run smoothly but is choppy on playback. anyone else here experiencing that?

It’s the cascaded shadow resolution, but it can be incredibly demanding as it changes shadows in the outside world as well. Be very careful with it is all I’ll say, you can very easily cripple your performance if you get it wrong.

Nice to see you back Jetwash, is there any update planned for the upgraded ToD Cathcart, or will the old ini do the job?

    Brilliant as always! :D

Did you see the issues others were having (myself included) where the windows on the 314 looked like privacy glass on a bathroom shower stall? Did anyone ever figure out what caused that?

    Hi,
Thank you Jetwash for this update.
For route Fife, I noticed differences between Text Versions v4.7 ultra and GodMod.sav ultra v4.7: this last is the good one ?

Oh, that’ll be because I was playing around with it at some point after I released Fife. The one in the GodMode version is the latest one on that basis.

    Yes. There are two possible causes;

    1) If you have my Class 314 headlight mod installed then delete it, it is not compatible. I might update it at some point if it is necessary.
    2) If you use Spikee1975’s cab cam mod then make sure you have the latest version.

The cause of the frosted glass effect is one of those two things.

Using your latest enhanced lighting and graphic mod. Ultra 4.7.
Windows 11 HDR was used during gaming. Which could be why it may look a bit washed out. Still NVIDIA gameready driver 560.70

Looks good! I don’t configure it using HDR so can’t vouch for the effect it might have. Do you think it looks washed out? It doesn’t to me to be honest

i guess probably because of being used to non hdr i guess? but thanks! i'll keep playing around though.
what's been your experience with the latest driver? and how does it perform compared to other previous drivers?

Hi everyone, got another exiting optimization for you and, finaly, you can actauly buy fps from the steam store

Lets start with a program called Amit Timer Res.
Some of you may now a similar program called Timer Resolution, in really basic terms these programs ensure that your system (kernel) has the lowest latency posible. This results in fewer hickups (stutters) and higher average and 1% lows in all games. Timer Resolution sets the latency from a tipcal 1 ms to 0,500 ms. This value is'nt optimal though as all systems are difirent, this is where Amit Timer Resolution comes in.

With Amit's program you can measure / test the current kernel latency and trie every step in between 0,500 ms and 1 ms. This way, you can see the best latency for your system (for me it was 0,518 ms) wich resulted in a much smoother experience than Timer Resolution. When the results are collected you can set the timer resolution program to the best value for your system and let the program start with windows so you don't have to worry about it any longer.

For more information, benchmarks and a clear explanation on how to install and set up the program, here's a helpfull Video form Khorvie Tech:

If you want a easier sollution with not as good but still better results, you can find a video on how to set up Timer Resolution here:

    Download FPS?

All the mayor games now a days have all the fancy tech like AMD FSR, frame generation and Nvidia DLSS, sadly, TSW does not (yet) have this tech.
But there is a sollution! With this reletively new programm called: Lossless Scaling (I am aware that this was breafly mentiond in this thread before)

With Lossless Scaling you can use a lot of difirent upscaling tech like AMD FSR and Nvidia NIS in any game. With the software you can also use the developers own frame generation tech, wich works better then Nvidia or AMD's frame gen IMO. I have been using the program for a while and the loss in quality is nonexistent. Espescialy with the new updates wich now supports Gsync and Freesync (variable refresch rate).

I find it still wise to cap your fps to a value that you always are able to get (preferibly higher than 60 fps), even in busy erea's for best visual quality.
Here's the steam page if you're interested. If you need any help to set it up for TSW i'm happy to help!
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/

Edit: If you have HDR enebled in windows settings, frame gen will not work properly!

Interesting stuff. I might have a dabble with that lossless scaling one.

It still beggars belief that TSW, which runs on a modern capable engine, doesn’t utilise all this modern tech. Surely it HAS to be a feature of TSW5, I’ll be blown sideways if they release yet another iteration of the game without it.

I'd be really interested to know what settings you are using for TSW. For me it works great for TSC, but for TSW it's really degrading the graphics. I read that it could be HDR, but I checked and it's already switched off.

How do you have it set up? I’m seeing worse fps with the scaling on than without it!

I’m also finding it keeps crashing

Nvidia upscaling from 1440p to 4K
    2022-05-30-image.jpg

    Game:
    Screen 4K
    Graphics:
All max except Sky "Very High"

You have always some small ones but nothing worse...

Small places where i get 35/40 fps places like Salzburg Hbf but overall no problems. Salzburg will you never get rid off

AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (a big multicore successor what for TSW a big advantage is)

Ah, I thought you meant you used that lossless scaling program.

I can’t say I’m seeing any improvement and it keeps crashing. It could well be that I haven’t got it set up correctly though.

robski Any ideas? How do you have it set up? Thanks

I attached my settings. I don't use upscaling because I have a 1080p monitor and it looks very pixelated with any upscaling tbh. But I have seen that LS1 has the best picture quality with a scale of 1.3, make sure though that the aspect ratio does'nt change. I did encounter some isues when HDR or Auto HDR was enabled in the windows settings.

My system: 4070 TI Super, 7700x, ddr 5 ram at 6400 mhz and a 1080p 165 hz monitor.
I typicaly run TSW at 200% res scale, ultra quality and Jetwash's ultra settings mod. Wich gets me around a sollid 82 fps everywhere (even in bussie stations) wich I double to 164 because of my 165 hertz refresh rate wich I prefer over a higher res monitor.

    Thanks.

I’d figured it out (just) when I saw your reply.

I’m running the most demanding service / weather combo in the game and have it at 125% screen percentage on a 4K base (no image scaling), my Ultra ini tweaked a bit higher still and the LSFG 2.2.1 on x2, doubling the 30fps set in the game to 60fps which is my monitor refresh rate.

Normally I’d be lucky to see 15fps with that combo yet now it is smooth as silk and the game looks phenomenal with no aliasing. I’d say until DTG include this in the game (puh-lease!!!!) it’s game changing, just as the frame gen mod was for FS2020 for those with a non 40-series card.
