It is just the usual hyperbole we get on these forums. The questions on the poll don't even make sense as we don't have a clue what we are getting, so how can anyone say more needs being done on it, what work being done on what! Still it feeds in to the misery that some seem to want to convey. If I stopped using TSW because I was fed up of it/thought it was a rip-off/thought DTG were the spawn of Satan or whatever other reasons people have come up with, I wouldn't be spending my life on the developers forums like some voyeur, I would go off and do something meaningful.

I suspect some have been counting the days till they could lay into DTG for releasing TSW5.

  2. While others merely want them to up their game.

Conflating healthy criticism with misery, spawn of the devil and voyeurism seems a little harsh..

Its never been my style to excuse mediocrity, so hopefully criticism is reflected upon through those lens, examined for merit and either accepted or discarded. Its directed at DTG in any case, although its a public forum so Im happy to engage in any reasonable conversation.

There is healthy criticism of which there is a large amount of on this forum. Then there is the maudlin misery put forward by some, who you rarely if ever see making a positive comment. Either they stay very quiet when they find something good, which doesn't seem very balanced or they just don't find anything positive about TSW, in which case why do they bother?

I think we all want DTG to do things better, we all have our criticisms, our wants and our desires but there are ways of expressing it.

  5. I suspect at that point they're happily playing the game... I'd like to think so anyway as the alternative is, as you say, depressing.

There's an advantage to not silencing the critics in that a dissenting voice is often good to have around. Silence the critics, and they'll go elsewhere. What remains is an echo chamber with an absence of impetus for change or improvement. Just ask any dictator how it works out being surrounded by yes men..

Well yes that is true, it would be depressing. Hopefully they are enjoying it but just get triggered by the "bad things", a shame they can't share their enjoyment too.

My answer is I'll get it in Humble Bundle sometime next year. Whether I'll buy it personally, depends on whether somebody will have a spare key for it, or not.
