Since this is the first advanced loco for TSW, i would like to know what sources were taken for replicating the Adv features, also if there was any "quality control" from real drivers or work shop personal?

Im just asking out of curiousity, i know the TSG level of current locos / trains is already very high and for me very satisfying. And it wont make a difference on my day 1 purchais, which is guaranteed.

Very happy about this dlc (loco / wagons + cabcar), so my second question is if there are further plans for advanced locos / trains?

Curious about how in depth it goes, for example:
    • Are exterior things like angle cocks, manually attaching brake and main reservoir hoses, etc simulated?
    • Can things like sand and the battery run out if you use them for too long?
    • If you spawn it on a UK route for example with different voltage, would the loco be damaged?

    • Are the IC coaches expert level as well, for example are all the buttons usable, can the gangway bridges be raised and lowered manually?

    • Would you consider making expert diesel locos in the future?

will we be able to use the 182 and 193 "normally" with the new 101's IC coaches, eg. will the doors open on the correct side, or will the issue be the same as for the IC coaches of the old 101?

    Nice one Fred!

Will there be any discount for those of us who bought the original DB 101?

for upcoming german routes with the 101. will both be used, either one or the "normal" 101 dropped completely for any future routes? and if the expert line is recieved well. are there any thoughts of what rolling stock could come next, or is that still awaiting response to the dlc?

Yes my question echos the above.

What does this mean for future routes & the current 101? Im guessing from the myriad of technical limitations that TSW suffers from, that this isn’t going to be a simple case of one subbing for the other.

Do we only get layers now for the pro, essentially forcing a paid upgrade for 101 layers, or will those who buy the upgraded version have to lose out on some layers for the sake of the older version?

How will future layers work? Will the new 101 permanently replace the original in future timetables? Aswell as the steuerwagen

Maybe a slightly silly question but with this being an expert loco, I was wondering how, or even if, it would effect players who can't speak/read German?

    • Will there be an official guide of some sorts? Not necessarily written, it could also be a video (like Matt did with German signaling a few years back).
    • I could see on the roadmap thread for July that there was the possibility to enable, disable, increase and decrease Fault simulation and chaos factor (I assume these refer to the probability of a fault happening on the locomotive). This is a very interesting feature that will increase immersion. Would this be something that could be implemented on a route basis instead of a loco basis, e.g. simulating the probability of a signal failure, a point machine failure, a train ahead that fails and thus traffic on a double tracked line is directed on a single track?

Did the IC cars get any modification to make them work with Vectron's door control system? Or the Taurus? Which locomotives is the IC cab car compatible with?

    Questions I would like answered:

    - what has DTG changed on the core game to accommodate this loco. One aspect which comes to mind is the current way door open or close procedures are handled in game. As stated before, on German long haul trains it’s actually not the driver being responsible for this…

    - I assume this is planned for the stream anyway but I would like to see more detail of the failure modes. Are we able to misshandle stuff like (as an example) forgetting to connect UIC cables when coupling a unit or similar?

    - Will all the ICs is the „new“ timetable have the cab car attached to the consist or are there still trains without (as you would see in real life as well)?

    - As it was hinted at a second livery on the 101, are there more liveries as well? Do they spawn randomly into the timetable?

    - I want to second the question how the substitution will work for future timetables.

    - As I understand it the loco will come with two different cabs. I would like to see both being shown in the stream. Also, are the ETCS versions linked to the correct loco numbers in game? Just wondering if I see, let’s say, BR101-141, and would get on board, would I have the ETCS cab (as it is nowadays) or the old cab with the MFA?

How will substitution work? Will it only be drivable on Salzburg and Dresden at launch?

Look forward to see the streaming!

How this "more complex" locomotive will affect about graphics and performance = resources demands?
Mainly on console. I am on PS5.

It won't because of the cab car. They had to duplicate the timetable for those 2 dlc.

Since the db 101 is expert mode. Will the restroom or bathroom be available. If it expert the bathroom restrooms has to be expert as well. Meaning we can open the bathroom doors and see toilet and bathrooms sink toilet paper you name it right.

How much will the DLC cost?

Which locomotives are compatible with the wheel? On which routes will you see the vehicle?
And in contrast to the 218 and the diesel control car, will it work that you use it formation designer?

Why £30? This has divided opinion on the forum and probably cost a fair number of sales if the price had been pitched around the £20.
Question for DTG/TSG only (not the unofficial spokesmen): Please put in simple terms how you can justify selling this for more than twice the price of any previous loco/MU DLC? Are the additional features really worth that much extra, once you start driving the loco, compared to the original?

I think this specific DLC will prove to be a real issue further down the line regarding layering into future routes. How will that be managed?

Will the Expert 101 layer in by default as it has the more robust level of content including the cab car and extra livery, thereby freezing out owners of the original DLC (that don't feel the need to pay the extra for the new features)?

Or will it be a one-and-done with future routebuilders choosing to include the original 101 as it will almost certainly have a higher level of ownership?

Or will there be two timetables for every route going forward? That seems like a terrible compromise (especially if there are more Expert DLC in the future).

Hey folks, quick reminder to please only post questions in this thread. This makes it easier for us to gather them in preparation for the stream.
I will remove any posts that aren't questions, and move them to the official discussion thread where appropriate.

    All the best,

The fast moving external camera on consoles is gone with the release of TSW4. Why it wasn't possible for you to resolve this issue in the last 10 months?

Away from pricing… how robust is this when it comes to the save game? Will it resume as is or will it be like the G6 (or the AP Class 40 in TSC), where you need to stop the train and shut everything down first?

And another… given the deluxe pricing of this model, assuming there is a Journey mode have all the elements been hand tested to successful completion? Asking this because the G6 still has at least one Journey run that cannot be completed due a signal that won’t clear, but neither TSG nor DTG seem able or willing to fix the issue (or remove it from Journey mode).

    here is my questions:
    • why the DLC is so much expensive?
    • what is the point for current 101 owners: do we get a discount? if not, why?

What accessibility features are there for non german speakers?
Do you foresee this loco being used in the future?
Will there be expert UK stock?
What is the most fun part about driving the loco?
    How is fault generation managed?

    3rd question:

There are many private railroad operators in germany. They share all the same situation with the lack of available drivers. Also there are newcomers and "quereinsteiger", (people who are tired of their profession for whatever reason and start over in the railway sector).

So my question, would it maybe make sense to sell this kind of deeph sim to railway operators?

Especially for people without background knowledge in railroad alot of informations come together with all the rules and procedures. So i guess using a sim would not break anything on a real loco. And maybe it would make newcomers understand in a better way.

why do you build one of the most desired trains, the control car and then you very slyly try to force people to pay a monstrous amount through an absurd paywall and try to boost sales? And after all this extreme criticism, has there not now been a perception among you that the community clearly demands a different course and will it come?

    My fourth and last question:

About the layers, are there plans to swap them in the other routes (for example kassel - würzburg, bremen oldenburg, etc etc. ?

With the arguments about the paywall, which are partially valid in my opinion, i really cant understand why this dlc doesnt comes with more meat on the bone.

2 routes isnt gonna attract anyone, i see it as a total missed opportunity since the copied timetables are a good thing to implement this loco. Also kassel würzburg doesnt have a lot of 101 services. Not the price point is what bothers me, its the "only 2 routes" which is beyond my understanding.

As an observation and a question, why did this not get a layer and Journey mode on LFR? That would have been a nice long run for both the loco and cab car, far more appealing than the blink and you miss it being supplied.

From what I understood you could use the Expert 101 on all the services the old 101 uses but the AI would be the old 101. I understand this is to restrict memory usage but do routes get a hit in performance when using the 101 expert?

For console users: does the expert 101 DLC include a new way of navigating the multifunction screens in cab with a controller? Or is it the usual way, which is very very fidgety and such a hassle that I just don't bother these days.

There is a full manual, at least in English, to understand not only the trainset but also how data we need to insert during the start-up?
For example: for TSC we're have a free Italian DLC with a real study level but there's some info message that's suggest you which number insert when you still configure the safety system. This helps a lot when you couple behind something that change the original data you're had insert before.

    Two questions please.

Aoart from the expert mode, how much does this differ from the original 101?

Will there be a discount for owners of the original 101?

l hope they take tonight’s stream slowly and use it as a tutorial.

Do "old" 101 owners get any discount ? What is the situation with the ebula? Can I look at the manual before I buy it ?

Hello everyone, just wanted to share our recent preview announcement in this channel too:

Unfortunately, due to last-minute complications when updating to the latest builds, we’ve had to postpone the Expert DB BR 101 preview livestream tonight, and instead we’d look to showcase this tomorrow, Thursday August 1st, at the same time (18:00 UTC / 19:00 BST), to ensure we’re showing the new physics and features of the Expert 101 accurately.
This will also mean that our planned special guest Maddy, a real life 101 driver, will be unable to join us for the preview tomorrow.

We understand there are a lot of questions relating to the functionality of the Expert tier loco, which we hope the preview will make clear, and we are gathering these to share during the live stream tomorrow evening.

Thank you for understanding, we look forward to showcasing this new loco with you ahead of the release next week.

Okay, finally found the right thread for it.
Are there any procedure-failure-based faults? As, in simple words, can you manually break the loco by not following procedures?

    Good morning folks,

as always, now that the stream is over I will close the Q & A thread and provide written out answers to questions posted in here in a short while.
Any posts that are not questions will be moved to the discussion thread so the conversation can continue there.

EDIT: Unfortunately I won't be able to provide the written out answers today as I would like to provide an extensive list of answers, but my I need to leave early today. For now you can check the timestamped VOD below, where we answered a lot of questions you might have.

    All the best,

    Hello folks,

I apologise for the delay in delivering the overview to answers provided in this thread and during the stream, I wanted to make this as comprehensive as possible and just ran out of time on Friday.

But without further ado, let's get into the questions:

Question: What is and isn't simulated on the EXTERIOR of the locos and coaches?
Answer: Among other things you will be able to interact with functional brake type levers, brake line deaerators and the magnetic brake test buttons. The separate angle cocks or reservoir hoses are not simulated.

Question: What functionalities do the IC coaches have?

Answer: You will be able to use the conductor door locking mechanisms as well as the emergency brakes inside the coaches. The gangway bridges will move automatically.

Question: Can things like sand and the battery run out if you use them too long?
