Something I would love is if the defect detectors works like if you turn on the radio you could hear your train along with other trains basically the detector would say "(railroad company name like NS or CSX) defect detector milepost(whatever mile posts the detector is it or near) no defect Total axles (whatever the axle count it) detector out" I would love for the side console would work to and show the mile posts
Great idea! There's an HO-Scale model railroad layout on Youtube called the BNSF Fall River Division that has working defect detectors that work exactly the way you suggested crystal#9318. Lionel Trains also makes a defect detector in O-Scale. I'm actually a model railroader, and I occasionally play train simulators like TSW4. Working defect detectors are a must on modern US routes.
Talking detectors would be fabulous. The game already knows train length and weight info, surely it wouldn't be impossible to add a detector. Even if it omitted the axle count it would still be a nice touch to hear the detector radio in. I would also really enjoy radio chatter to be added to US trains. Older TSC trains had it on some US routes and it added a good amount of realism. It'd be nice to have the automated in-train announcements added to the LIRR and Metro-North trains as well.
Well Run 8 does throw random defects at you, with the automated voice over the DS route telling you to stop the train. Ought to be possible for TSW to do it...
