For the Class 170. It is showing incorrect Carriage numbers. Only showing '50408' on top of the doors and the posters. Which all correspond to Class 170408. These all should be different and not the same.
Having played a couple services now on the route, I think it's not half bad. I'm just a casual compared to a lot of folks here, but I like it. The lighting effects, the 170 DMU, the near-track terrain, the abundance of traffic on the roads and the lots to see on the trackside (the ports and bridges are nicely done.) Could be more texture to the fields and the farther out panoramics could use some work.I think there were some phantom "islands" that shouldn't be off the east coast, but overall I'd say it doesn't deserve the hate it's getting. It's a decent first pass and I look forward to the updates!
There’s an uncollectible collectible at lilithglow it’s the planter on platform 1 stuck in the door way in front of a lift. I found 2 of each collectible here just can’t place the flowers on this one.
I believe on the preview stream it was stated that this is not one of the collectables, it's just decorration.
Get Fife Cirle on sale Felling the DLC good, no performances problem, route and material looks good. But these point seems to be review : Friction noises inaudible Tutorial voices bad mix (too low) Tutorial don't explain collectables No Flying Scotman Railtour appear (i have dlc Flying) Steam achievement tutorial complete not functional Steam achievement turbostar unlocked about 3-4 miles and not 170. DLC ok but despite the fixes they are still significant improvements to be a very good DLC.
So, this route is 30% off on Playstore. Should I bother (after the last route updates) or wait for 80%? Thanks for your guidance.
On console, I personally still don't think it's worth it even at 30%. At 50%+ maybe. I did buy it on PC but even after the patch it's still not that good in my opinion. I often pick up the routes again on the PS5 if I like them on PC as soon as they come on sale, but I can't bring myself to pay again for this one. I mainly got it because of the rather excellent MODs, which of course are not available on consoles, so you are left with whatever Rivet provide in the future. You could get it on the basis that they have promised the new branch line in the future. But if it's already 30% off, I think it's fairly safe to say it's going to appear in other sales in the future.
I bought it on PS4 earlier today and done a couple of runs with it. I understand the PS4 limitations so can look past the old Forth Road Bridge popping in or even the new one not being there. What is weird is that some things disappear the closer you get to them. Quite a few end of platform signs and loads of seats at Waverley. Not seen that in any other route. I quite like it though, wasn't as bad as I was expecting considering it is Gen 8.
Hmmm, smells a lot like a badly optimized route. If there was a recovery attitude like Skyhook showed with MML, I'd consider a purchase. But this is Rivet. They must've gotten their PR skills from Dshenghis Khan. I'm still stuck with their BR 204. Typical: lovely modelled, but physics, sounds and dynamics as a bad joke. My car is a better simulation of a BR 204. What a missed opportunity. And so it goes ... But thanks for your input. Very appreciated!
Can a patch be sorted to stop the class 170s speed in the hud showing the speed for that section as that indicated on the boards only permissible for the HSTs please.
The HST board also applies to 170s. Any train with a top speed of 90mph or above can run at the higher speed of the HST board.
Isn't it something to do with the braking as well? Or am I thinking of something else? By braking I mean at high speeds it can brake and stop within a certain distance like a "HST"....yeah I'm not making much sense lol.
HST is a standard speed differential across the network that applies to all manner of stock (IC225, 158, 159, 168, 170, 171, 172, 175, 180, 220, 221, 222, HSTs, 373s, 80x)
Thanks I don’t sign a 170 or any dmu for that matter so wouldn’t have known that it’s electrics I drive IRL. Also not familiar with that route but thanks for the helpful answer.
You are making perfect sense. Where I drive IRL we have different speed boards for different stock and yes you are correct it is to do with braking performance
I’ve done a few runs on this route now and for the most part it’s a great route. I have encounter a few little niggling details though - several bridges are out of gauge and are too low. I was doing a run in an HST and noticed a few times from the cab that the bridge looked a bit low so I took a screenshot and noticed the clipping. I don’t think it’s a rolling stock issue because I know for a fact that HSTs run on this section of the line IRL, LNER used them on their Aberdeen services and I’m pretty sure ScotRail runs them up this section too.
I got this in the recent sale and have actually been pleasantly surprised overall. The 170 is modelled well and seems pretty realistic to drive, with the lag in applying power to seeing it etc. the sounds moving off are fairly accurate imo, although not sure in the idling sound while running. The bridge is excellent as has been previously said and the recent updates to use the new foliage makes a huge difference. Also good to see some static 170s at Haymarket depot, something so simple can make a huge difference to overall immersion. The auto announcements make a big difference and huge improvement from Edinburgh to Glasgow, although would be good to add the missing bits, detailed below. The 158 & Leven branch have potential to improve this hugely too with much added variation. However, there are still quite a few important improvements needed if it is to go from an ok route to a really good one. Scenery - Grass not immediately next to the railway still looks pretty poor texture wise. Several bridges are too low causing the train to clip through them Similarly quite a few trees and foliage over hang or even complete cross the line, the worst one being a tree just north of Burntisland, a pretty solid branch goes right through the cab southbound and even clips in northbound Edinburgh Airport whilst improved from initial state is still pretty poor and needs improved Cottages at Aberdour station are pretty inaccurate to real life Waverley platform having no end wall. This was an issue in EDI - GLA too, whilst not major is rather annoying. There should be a small wall at the righty barrier end of platforms 14-17, rather than nothing at all. (Pic attached) The Forth Road Bridges should be visible from the small bridge on approach to Inverkeithing Map collectible, absolute pet hate of mine, but appreciate not a deal breaker, please stop using the old style route maps and use the actual maps instead. The ones actually inside the 170s should be the collectible on the platforms. Timetable - Still missing the Aberdeen services which are often serviced by class 170s 385 services to Glasgow/dunblane seem pretty sparse, would be great to see the full timetable implemented and would make such a difference to Waverley/Haymarket and the stretch to the fife turn off The addition of depot runs early am & late pm again would make a difference. PIS This one may be a core issue as has happened on other routes but Edinburgh Waverley gets cut off platform PIS Platform PIS for ai services shows some stops but not all and no destination Announcements Add “this is xyz station” on arrival. Repeat the “this train is for x calling at….” Announcement at all stations Add in off route stops on Perth & Dundee(and hopefully Aberdeen) services Rivet, you could potentially have a cracking route if the polish is added. My worry is we have been here before, but we shall see.
Don't expect Rivet to update it again they have a history of doing an update then just leaving it I hope I'm wrong though it will be a great route if its finished properly
170 needs fixed. It has no running sounds and most functions don’t work on free roam (AWS acknowledgement on console etc.)
Has anyone been able to get the "FCE: Bob's Your Uncle" Steam achievement? Doesn't work for me. I've completed the Class 170 tutorial like 5 times from different menus, nothing helped. This is a basic thing, how the [inappropriate language] are we still at the "Achievements won't award" level, Rivet?
Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly, no dice. I have also removed all my mods. No effect either, the achievement still wouldn't pop. Did you achieve it before the route update? I have a hunch that the update must've broken it. 0.6% completion is relatively normal for a TSW4 achievement, so it must've not been broken at some point.
Five Circle was released on March 26th, I got the achievement on March 29th, definitely prior to the patch. But take comfort, I don't get the achievement for completing all scenarios.
When it's ready. Rivet have to gather reference material which means going out to the line and taking thousands of photographs. Then they have to actual create it, build the timetable, scenarios if applicable which can weeks and months which also has to go through testing.
Wait a couple of months, it'll probably be ready then (I'd imagine they already have most of what they need already and would have already started working on it).
Reading here im just glad didnt touch this.... 170 no running sounds, scenery faults...usual silence from rivet.. No thanks, Not this time . , my patience for their so called learning courve is over, especially since the mask fell and the lack of passion came through. This is just my very honest impression.
Most of the track work is already there for the Leven Branch and you can travel down it. It's all the assets, signals etc etc that need putting in.
After a break from TSW I tried Fife yesterday and the driver seat on the class 170 seems to have been given collision. Is this a core problem? I didn't notice before. To recreate, sit in the drivers seat Stand up. Player gets stuck in the roof of the train and is unable to get free I recreated this a few times. Also still awaiting a fix for the 170 cab running sounds. They have been decimated to such an extent it's a very bland experience to drive this otherwise, good, DMU.
Is it same with the 385 and the flange sounds? Not existing anymore so not even a mod could fix that? The collisions i had at sehs when riding as passenger in the cab. After getting up i was in the roof.
I do not know how many of you who are on pc have the mods put out the end of May, they are dated 5/29. Besides giving us an updated schedule, the HST in ScotRail, a modified 800 for the dual mod runs up Fife Circle, it has pulled together both the ScotRail routes. From Fife Circle, if you select the 385 it gives you the complete G - E run. While the routes are not merged, it is still everything in one package.
Went down this line in real life for the first time today (Cameron Bridge to Waverley) and have to say that airport aside they got that side of the circle spot on. Looking forward to the Levenmouth branch greatly.
For the 158s: Northern have 8 3 cars (numbered 752 to 759). GWR have 5 3 cars (numbered 798, 950, 951, 958, 959). Numbers 800, 801, 803–805, 807, 809 and 811 were initially 158s, but have been converted to 159s.
