Hi folks, Auto HDR was a feature on TSW3 however it does not seem to work on TSW4. Will it at a later date please? Thank you. Graham
I was experiencing problems with another game. Washed out nuclear apocalypse looking lightning. What I never realised until searching another forum is that HDR was enabled in my display settings! After turning this off tsw4 and the other game looks far better. There's other games I prefer it enabled but it doesn't do tsw any favours.
Been said many times on here already. One way to solve this issue is to add display feature functionality. Brightness, Contrast and Gamma options. How many games, indie or AAA offer display options. It’s such a basic feature that should’ve been added into the game on day one.
Yeah that's true. Even some of the most basic games have the option. I'm glad I could tone down the brightness by turning off HDR.
Auto HDR won't be added to TSW4, as it is a native Xbox Series X|S app, Auto HDR can only be applied to backwards compatible titles. Case in point, the last TSW game to make use of Auto HDR was TSW2, until that received the X|S upgrade with the release of the Rush Hour update. Native HDR needs to be encoded at a base level into the game, something DTG seemingly have no interest in, and that is a great shame.
It is indeed puzzling why the graphical aspect of the TSW core has not been much improved over the years. We know that UE5 is not on the table because it would mean starting from scratch with a new TSW, but where is HDR, upscaling technologies like DLSS, FSR, etc.. These in turn could be then added to console to improve and smooth performance. Where is the investment, the progression, the desire to improve the TSW experience? In parent companies’ shareholders’ pockets?
This is specifically for pc and is a lot more complex than just a button like windows auto hdr however I use a program called reshade (the add ons version) with an add on called auto hdr (liliums version, this also requires the add on version of reshade) and liliums tone mapping Shaders Here's the links to the thing just mentioned: Reshade -> https://reshade.me/ (the add ons version is at the bottom of the page) Auto hdr (lilium) -> https://github.com/EndlesslyFlowering/AutoHDR-ReShade/releases Tone mapping shades -> https://github.com/EndlesslyFlowering/ReShade_HDR_shaders/releases Here is a few tutorials aswell: Reshade sutup -> Link without formatting -> Auto hdr and tone mapping tutorial -> Link without formatting -> I also use another reshade Shader pack but you have to pay for it that's why I've left it till last though if you do want to go to the level I have the last one is marty mods immerse you will need to join the discord to access the files, here's the link to the patreon -> https://www.patreon.com/mcflypg?utm_source=website&utm_medium=ppbutton0 I do have to mention that the immerse tool kit I kind of designed around the "ray-traced global illumination" shader which isn't that good, imo, but the other tools included are very useful. If your wondering which tier I've gone for I have the path-tracing teir for regrade+ (requires add on version of reshade) though ray-tracer is very similar just with less control with regrade (DOES NOT require add on version of reshade)
It appears to have auto formatted the non formatted links and won't let me edit it to remove them so sorry. I added them as I know some people myself included can't see formatted links for some reason so I tryed in vain to not have formatted links sorry
