It's broken the DSD switch on the Blackpool 47. On the series S no matter how long I spend moving the pointer around to turn DSD on it doesn't come up with the action marker
The 142 already has suspension! It bounces around like it's on a trampoline that's on a trampoline! It definitely doesn't need any more suspension otherwise we'll all be complaining of being sea sick when we drive it
I still think there should be more rocking side to side, especially over junctions, at the moment it’s just a lot of bouncing.
Have been informed that includes using keyboard too. So DSD has been completely broken on the Blackpool 47
Implement the newest gimmick, breaking other things. So typical ... Apparently suspension was thoroughly tested before it passed, DTG's Quality Assurance?
Well I haven’t noticed any up-down bounces on junctions or anywehere on Hamburg-Lubeck or Dresden-Riesa after about 30 services so I thought It’s not implemented yet.
Haven't had any problems with the DSD (PS5 player) but I did have my first ever crash on the Blackpool Branches route right after this update. Driving service 1Z15 with the Intercity 47. Not sure what brought it about and upon trying the service again it has so far remained stable.
The scenario "International rescue" for route S-bahn Vorarlberg is not fixed, but last time mentioned this will update with suspension improvements.
Can't turn AWS on on the 47. The change ends lever works but the other isolation lever seems stuck half way in one of the cabs. Might need some getting used to. I've only tried one drive in the 47 so far but the motion didn't initially feel as spot on at the 142 did. Feels like there is a lot of bounce but no roll or sway. Couldn't notice any difference on the welded vs jointed sections of track. Came to a sharp stop at a signal with full service brakes and the view continued to bob up and down a good 5 or so times with the loco at rest. If the 323 has it, why not for Birmingham and Glossop?
Hello. The Class 66 seems to work well, even the older variants. However, I notice that you cannot set custom path’s in timetable mode anymore. I’ve tried several routes. Setting a path results in nothing happening.
Yeah you can drive the loco but without DSD you won't get the 65 points per whatever the distance is so platinum is probably no longer obtainable on the 47 runs until they fix it
Well, with the 642 you can already notice that but with the 1116 and a dosto not quite what was well implemented well
You can't honestly be surprised? It's one week before DTG possibly announce that TSW 4 is going to be the fourth game in a row they're going to abandon a broken mess
Tried to activate the DSD on the Blackpool 47 and it won't budge, I didn't get the icon to toggle it either. On PS5. It worked before the update.
Its broken the tail light between Class 801 units also. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...lights-on-when-coupled-to-another-unit.83571/
The DSD in the 47 didn't work properly before and as it was detected as a safety system, but didn't work (and in reality, DSD doesnt really do much anyway), it was impossible to get the 65 points - now that it's removed, it should allow the 65 points if AWS is turned on. I believe this was an intentional change that they put in, but unintentionally left off their notes to us Matt.
I've ridden the Class 380 train on the Glasgow-Newton route a few times and I completely dislike the new driving physics. The train exaggeratedly jumps up on switches like a tram. This looked cool with the Class 142 railcar, but on trains like the Class 380 it doesn't seem realistic at all. Worst of all, however, is that at several places along the route the Class 380 train jumps violently sideways on a straight section of track! Something similar occurred from the old and more trashy routes in Train Simulator where the publisher didn't smooth the track accurately enough. A real consist would probably derail in these places. Will the authors of all the already released routes for TSW now carefully smooth the tracks to accommodate the more sensitive physics? Or maybe add an option in the menu to disable the functionality of bouncing the train vertically on routes that are not designed for it?
of course I am not, and given the reported bugs it is again one step forwards - two steps back on some DLC, QA failure once more. and we are already getting the usual excuses about miscommunication between the 'teams' of DTG by their manager the option to disable 'suspension' is an afterthought, really? how do you rate the chance of the older TSW2 rolling stock getting suspension without breaking a host of other things in the Simugraph, routing and scenarios?
But that is probs cause your passenger and not in the Cab. It will feel different in the Cab than being in the Passenger carriage.
DTG Matt Gotta say very impressed with the 801 suspension, from seeing previous Cab riding videos on the Class 801 on Youtube, it feels and looks realistic in my opinion but it makes me feel like I am their actually in the Cab. Love the Suspension on the 47 as well. Great Job to the Team!
That's key. I remember having a ride in the Class 395's in the cab a while back on HS1. I've ridden as a passenger before a lot on the 395's and they're super smooth - but the cab is another story. I was amazed how much this thing shook around even on the high speed line. The key is to look where you are relative to the bogies - you're outside the bogies, so you're going to be getting more severe movement than the passengers who are between the two bogies. Matt.
Basically what old Archimedes already postulated. The cab position in front of the bogie can be described as a lever. The bigger the distance from the pivot, the higher the amplitude.
And? I still enjoyed having it activated, it works on the WSR 47 so it was something I enjoyed activating, even if it just sat there looking pretty.
At the bottom of the line, the driving experience is a lot better and feels more realistic with the new suspension physics. So i really hope the suspension is part of the TSw standard in the future. Also im hoping this wont be abandoned in a fire and forget style. Agree on here, well done.
Years ago I had an (official) cab ride from Crewe to Rugby on a Class 86 and if you thought the WCML was rough in the passenger stock it was something else in the cab. As the Willesden Area Ops Manager bagged the second man’s seat I was stood in the middle hanging on for grim death. As there is only a 51:1 chance of ECML coming round on my card selection system, I will have to jump in the ECML specially later give it a try.
This patch caused the path setting function breakdown in roaming mode. Please fix it as soon as possible. Thank you.
I tried the suspension update yesterday. I was driving a Class 801 from Doncaster to Peteborough. I like it, when at slow speeds going over junctions it gives a really immersive and realistic feel. When at High Speed though it is constant bouncing. Is it this bad in real life?
Well in reality you feel all the bounces and side movements, which makes sense for your brain. TSW can make the movements, but obviously the player is still on a chair or sofa. So i guess its a thing of getting used to it.
I have noticed on Blackpool Branches the effect is fantastic on the 47 and a rake of coaches. Also the Pacer seems slightly less bouncy than before which seems more accurate. Fantastic work all involved.
I have mixed feelings about this. I loved it on the Pacer. However driving the 801 last night, I found it incredibly irritating. Sorry to sound negative, but cannot wait for an off switch and hope it comes soon. I think it’s probably because the Pacer is a fairly slow loco. The 801 at high speed seems excessively bouncy and whether realistic or not, I just don’t like it.
I like it overall. Some thoughts: I don't know whether steam trains were supposed to get more bouncy, but I like it and hope they don't revert it I don't know how technically difficult it would be, but a slider for suspension would be nice. On some trains I feel it is to subtle and would like to increase it If there was a way for suspension to be enabled for AI trains you are riding in, that would be good If the go back and add suspension to earlier trains, my top picks would be the class 395, 72 stock, and loadable freight wagons (so you can watch them move as they are loaded or unloaded) Some American content should have gotten suspension
Typical, my next Journey run on ECML is at night! Still I quite like the effect if maybe a little overcooked. We are probably waiting for our resident 801 expert matt#4801 to come here and confirm if it's a bit too much compared to the real thing. My main feedback is there definitely needs to be a slider (what Run 8 calls the "Seasick Modifier"), maybe a little more lateral movement compared to vertical bounce and more random as the suspension action will be directly related to the track condition. You're going to get a lot less on a freshly relaid or reballasted/tamped section, than a stretch that is top of the list for renewals. You're also going to get far more pressure on the suspension driving over jointed track than continuous welded rail too. So a cautious thumbs up and hopefully all the nice new trains in the TSW5 Train Set Box will come with this feature as standard.
DB BR 185.2 on Salzburg-Rossenheim broken after update, even no in-cab bouncing? (PS5) Hi, I experienced this yesterday right after update but tried again this evening, and it seems like BR 185.2 is broken. I tried even timetable service, and today also “International rescue” scenario on Salzburg-Rossenheim route and I haven’t experienced absolutely any in-cab camera bouncing while going over junctions in different speeds (10,20,40 km/h, and I can say they are lot of junction crossings in International Rescue scenario). The second thing is that after changing cabs the train got broken - I have no traction power and after resseting MCB I can get only tiny bit of power and speed up to 2km/h and thats all - no more power. “I’m stuck” reset button and re-starting train won’t help, the same “no traction broken train” thing happened yesterday in Timetable ride with 185.2. Any other PS5 players experienced same issue? Do the suspension update work for you on ÖBB Talent (tried one service too and same - absolutely no bouncing) and BR 185? edit: just watched DTG video showcasing BR 185 suspension update, and I can definetly say that mine is no bouncing at all against that video. I’m starting to think my PS5 version on TSW4 is broken - even no ÖBB Talent bouncing and also on DB BR 218 also I dont have any bouncing , even guys on this forum said the 218 has had suspension working till release. Or is there any swithc in options to make it working that I’m missing? Note: I checked multiple times that my TSW4 is up-to date and when updating yesterday everything seemed normal like with another updates. edit 2: BR218 suspension works on my custom scenario on Niedertalbahn, I can nicely see how suspension works and bounces whole locomotive, also in cab I can “feel it”. But on other routes like Dresden-Riesa, or Hamburg-Lubeck, on external camera I can see suspension moving - but locomotive caroserie wont, even not in cab camera. Same with OBB4024 Talent 2, external view suspension moves, in cab no movement. Any ideas? :/
Now though, I have to say while not exactly like for like traction just started a run on North Wales Coast in TSC with a Class 158 (first Career Scenario - yes, the cards fell well again!) and the suspension motion there seems more random and less frantic - slightly better I would say and more what TSW should be aiming for.
