If you change ends its necessary to overcharge the brakepipe with the "Angleicher". I usually to it anyway when spawning or taking over a consist. You just have to wait until the pressure is back to 5 bar until you make a brake application

In case you have to brake, you need to overcharge again.

Its because the drivers brakevalves are not matching the 5 bar 100%. So when going from the 101 to the cabcar or the other way around, this has to be done. Its standard procedure and in my opinion simulated well in this dlc.

The Push pull (Wendezug) brake check has to be done all time you changing ends. Means close the brake key for a few seconds at 5 bar and same at 4 bar. This way you know if the brakevalve on the other end is closed well.

The full brake preparation check is usually done after building the consist when you couple etc.

    You can test what happens:

Leave open the brake key on the cab car and put the brake valve into F release, then brake from the other side in the 101. This will make your braking distance longer. Only a schnellbremsung would help.

The other situation same as above but leave the valve at 4 bar and fill the brakepipe from the other side.

Thats why this is checked by the driver after setting up the new cab.

There's a prototypical feature here: You have to overcharge the brakes over at least 5.2 to 5.3 bars using the overcharge button, and the light should go off. I absolutely do not know why that is, but this seems to be a requirement.

I really like this addon, though why is my AFB stuck on 140 kph whenever i enable it, as far as i know, there's no errors on my setting up, the Data also seems right

I solved one malfunction on my locomotive. In the manual they say "restart LSS". What exactly does that mean? I turned off the entire locomotive and that helped.

Use the "Angleich" (overcharge) button to raise the brake pipe pressure 0.1-0.2 bar :)

EDIT: I see this was already answered. I guess it doesn't hurt to be repeated :)

Hello, DTG dropped suspension physics update today, when it’s BR 101 Expert going to get suspension update?

This was already answered above: suspension will be added, but might take some time. It will come when it's finished.

A GSM-R question for this dlc. I am planning, once I have it ready, to use Rosenheim - Saltzburg to run on. When you cross the border, even if it's only a short distance, do you have to switch country's in the unit?

Yes. If you are in GSM-R A (Austria), and you cross the border into Germany, it will continue to "function" for a little while until after Freilassing, by which point it will tell you that GSM-R A is not valid. Normally, at the border itself, when crossing over the Saalach river, you must switch to GSM-R D (Deutschland - Germany).

Thank Ralph', that's why I have been practicing that move on the GSM-R but wanted to sure.

Raph' Is it possible to implement your GSMR as a core feature for all trains?

That's something neither I nor Raph' can answer. It's up to DTG and Fabian who made the GSMR function :)

When doing multiple runs in 1 game (back and forth), i noticed something with the ZDS. For the 1. Run, i dont have any trouble to set up the consist, even when they are out of 2 spawned locos coupled on the consist. The first run to the ending station works well, the rear loco is raising the panto, also sets the HS to on when giving the signals from the lead loco.

But as soon i arrive my destination i change ends, and it seems the locos get confused about the ZDS120. Also the UIC line seems to be not sending the commands panto up / down or HS on. Im changing to the loco, which was at the rear when driving on the 1. run and want to start my journy back.

Could this be from the Bug in the ZDS logic?

I had a similar problem when driving the 101 end, then shutting down and driving the cab car. Followed the manuals instructions

    - Train brake max, brake key out, local brake released
    - Reverser out
    - ZWS switched on at the loco end

Couldn't get the ZS to come on in the cab car, nor a pan down test. The battery was already on when I changed ends. Only seemed to work when I respawned the train (before the freeroam issue started)

The windscreen demister switch is not working.
EDIT: I have now done some testing!
The demister switch WORKS on the Analog version of the 101.
The demister switch DOESN'T work on neither the MDA nor the IC versions of the 101.

    (Original post):
In the 101 loco the windscreen demister switch, to the left below the desk, doesn't work for me.
When you hover over it with the mouse, no text or actions appear.
In the winter my windscreen in the 101 loco fogs up quickly and I can't see out the windows nor do anything about it.
    Is it a known bug?

ZWS is working fine for me for changing ends infinite time. But the ZDS and ZMS i manage to set up successfully for the 1. run, but after changing ends the locos have trouble to get the signals from the lead loco.

I thought that too at first but then I set the AC to "Lüften" and dial the temperature to 29°C, then the fog finally went away :)

Has anybody done some night driving in the cabcar? I feel like the brake gauges are barely readable, or rather the needles themselves are basically completely invisible. I think they have a small texture glitch too as I was able to make out some weird shapes/numbers on them too.

I forgot about sifa isolation and i thought the Expert mode was automatically set on "on". Now all systems perfectly work.

Anyway, i thank you for the dlc. It's fun and interesting play a train with high level of details like in the real life, from all fuses, valves and their work to faults and their recovery. The new sound is amazing and helps to make this dlc very interesting. I like watching the Db br 101 correctly adapts to old routes (of TSW 2 and 2020), which don't set with ToD4 and with all light effects, in order to have the balanced light (as for DB br 218). I hope this train will be used as layer on future german routes and you will work on projects like this in the future. Great job TSG!

But, i have to report you some small things:
    - it would be better to have the possibility to move the pointer when i change the point of view in the cab, because, although there are many buttons, it is hard to move with the controller (i am on Xbox series X)
    - you should think to make a tutorial only on GSM-R system and its working, in order to understand better how to use it as in the real life.
    - i tried to play a service (with cold start) on a old route, from Duren to Kohl hbf with IC Cab car. After i set the train (battery, pantograph, mcb, ZDE, etc.), i applied power and every times the speed touched the 11 km/h the emergency brake activated. Why? Is the ZDE wrong or it is a bug?
The train was formed: Cab car + 5 coaches + db br 101. The ZDE was: 9 - 17 - 18 (length: 173 meters) - 20. The brakes also activated with this ZDE: 9-18-18-20

Sounds like you forgot to release the parking brake :D
I'm confused why it didn't scream at you "Federspeicherbremse!" when you applied power though. Maybe that is something I fixed after release. I'm sorry I can't be more precise, I have fixed a lot of bugs over the weekend so it's all a bit blurry. In any case make sure that the parking brake is released before departing. If all the air brakes have been released (indirect and direct) and the yellow light on the panel behind the drivers seat is not illuminated the parking brake has released. :)

Yes, this is the same bug. The two locomotives are "fighting" to be the master in some situations when using ZDS (or ZMS). I'm currently investigating this issue but it will take some time because the Time Division Multiplexing simulation is one of the more complex pieces of logic in the locomotive and it relates to so many systems.

Hello everyone, I just want to shout a big "THANK YOU" to everyone involved in this 101 expert loco dlc. This is finally what I personally whished would come at some time to TSW. The level of detail is just mindblowing. I mean specifically the technical and simulation side. Good looking locos where there before, but this new expert 101 is a biiiiiig step forward. I'm aware that this might not be a loco for everyone or not everyone whishes a so in depth simulation of the real thing, but I'm just thrilled (if you can say it like that, I'm not a native english speaker ;))

Could you make the horn on the BR101 and the IC Cab car so that when you let go of the horn the horn stops
And can you add compatibility for your own Livery to the Formation Designer on the BR101 Expert

My only niggles so far are the horn on both the cab car and 101 seems to linger too long, rain drops don’t seem to show on the cab car windshield, sometimes at higher speeds I seem to hear what sounds like brief moments of external sound like an open window despite windows and doors being shut (only in 101) and you can hear the loop in the brake squeal when coming to a stop which kind of ruins the immersion for me personally.

I understand some horns can linger a little as any remaining air escapes but this feels unnatural, I also understand that horns aren’t much of a deal in Germany but if someone is on a platform edge I like to give a short blast or any blast that feels more controlled if that makes sense.

Outside of these things, I pretty much got my moneys worth.

    I am on PC.

I am finally ready to try this loco on Rosenheim - Saltzberg. I will have the manual on one screen and the sim on the second, further will have bandicam up and running over the sim to take pictures of things I need to look up. This way can pause the play while I consult the manual.

Well, didn't get far. Had a unit with the classic train data panel and the manual only shows it but does not talk about how to enter information into it. If I can't do this then it seems I don't have PZB active. Any videos or post that talk about using the classic panel?

By "classic panel" what do you mean?

EDIT: I would interpret "classic panel" as the ZDE (the physical panel with buttons on the rear-left of cab 1), if so it is explained in the training session "Train Data" and steps to set it up are also included in the scenarios. It is also explained in the manual under the ZDE section.

For the digital display page to input train data on the MFD locomotive it is explained in the manual (further down in the ZDE section).

Hi, William, I’ve isolated the PZB as mentioned above, deactivated the cab, switched the PZB back on again and lock the brakes. Now I was able to continue with the scenario in the cab car. Brakes can be filled there like in the descriptions of the scenario, everything looks fine until I increase power in order to move. The train doesn’t move at all, seems the the brakes of the coaches didn’t release. What am I doing wrong?

You may need to press the "overcharge" button to lower the pressure in the "Zeitbehälter" to around 3-4 bar (which equals an overcharge of 0.2-0.1 bar in the brake pipe). The cab car doesn't have an electric brake valve like the BR 101 so it can't automatically overcharge.

a couple new questions for you guy or someone else, no big deals this time:
    1) Why when I either press Y or U or release either side of doors, only one of two doors on the carriages open on that side? I want my passengers to: get the hell out / get the hell in asap :D
    2) I managed to get two Storungen, no big deals yet, but in both cases when I clicked on an LSS that was "open", it just flicked up to "closed" and back down to "open" - is this what the manual means when there are solutions for "if not successful"? Or am I supposed to open MCB or sth before trying to reset some circuit breaker?
    3) The "clarification" thread mentions these routes as driveable/substitutions for original BR 101:
    Nahverkehr: Dresden - Riesa

    Bahnstrecke: Salzburg - Rosenheim
    Bahnstrecke: Bremen - Oldenburg

    Tharandter Rampe: Dresden - Chemnitz
    Schnellfahrstrecke: Kassel - Würzburg.
    - does that mean that on these routes not only the loco, but the whole train is "expert"-ly simulated :) ?

    - my observations -
one thing I noticed, not a bug - whereas on original 101 when braking into a station from my usual distance I would put brakes into notch 3 or even 4-5 and then gradually release them, here it is usually enough to put it in notch 2, only sometimes more, and gradually release - thanks to the simulation of brake systems also on carriages, I guess, the brakes are now much stronger and efficient :)

also, played a run on Kassel Wurzburg, and I am happy to tell you that the AFB reset procedure upon LZB/PZB transition works just fine, which I am very glad that it is so :)

once I get more comfortable with this loco, I might do a livery on it :) havent played cab car yet :)

I am playing Dresden Riesa in cab car, and even at the start I had to hold Brake overcharge for the Bremse storung light to go off... then I braked in Dresden Neustadt and had to do that again... have I done sth wrong at the start or do you have to overcharge after every stop?

edit: nevermind, I only had to overcharge at first station, when I got it right, the start at the second stop was ok... but then I was too confident at Riesa and overshoot red light by 1m :D lol

After overcharging the brakes, you cannot utilise the brakes again until the brake pipe pressure has stabilised around 5 bars, otherwise you indeed have to overcharge them again. After a few times of doing this you'll end up with stuck brakes and you'll have to manually vent all the brakes to be able to release them. Long story short: make sure you won't have to brake too soon after overcharging the brakes. If needed, wait a few minutes before departing after you've done so.

good advice :) plus first time I probably overcharged em too much and they didnt get to 5 bars before Dresden Neustadt... I think I got it right the second time :) ... but then I was too confident in my braking abilities, and I overshot red light by mere inches :D

btw in cab car for some reason, when you use A and D, you can only do Down, Hold and Up... I had to move the lever with mouse into % and then I could use A and D... which was annoying kinda, cos everytime I wanted to have some measure of control over throttle, I had to use mouse :D

The same with the PS5 Controller. You can't get past the Throttle Up section. You need to move the throttle lever with the camera cursor to get into the % range. But from there the throttle can be taken back all the range down to 0. Really strange, am I mssing something here, maybe some key combination?

I'm very happy with the dlc so far. I've had two breakdowns so far, but I haven't been able to resolve the second one. Eventually my broken locomotive was towed away by a Vectron. In the manual it says call the rescue locomotive. It would be amazing if the dispatcher was able to actually send you the rescue locomotive.

Yes. Once in the up position, release R2 and quickly press (and hold if desired) it again. This will move you to the %-range. Essentially, you have to double-tap R2 to get in the %-range. This way, the down/hold/up-range is remains entirely useable via controller but you can still get to the %-range just the same.

I have a problem in the scenario where you have to pickup the bag from the side of the tracks: I find the bag, pick it up with the left mouse button but the scenario instruction is still at "Pick up the bag..." (or whatever it is in English - I play with German localization). The bag disappears after clicking it but the dialogue for picking it up is still shown on screen. I guess the scenario is bugged?

Edit: Only occurs when saving the scenario and loading back in. When playing in one session, everything works fine. It should also work when loading the save but well...

Thanks for trying to help me, but obviously I’m way too stupid for this. The brakes don’t release and I’m not able to get the train moving. I give up.

cwf.green, OK I have looked again at this tutorial and it was really zero help. The display screens during it are even wrong. It has you walk over to that panal on the back wall and press 'zd' without saying anything about the data entry. I will say Matt did go over what the various legends on the screen meant. I have included two screen grabs to show what I am saying. I am going to now do some of the scenarios to see what they can teach me.

The real "throttle" doesn't have a notch in the "up" position, which makes for really terrible control with keyboards or digital controls. I decided to use the same logic I implemented on the Vectron for the direct brake lever (which has unnotched positions that are between notches).

We couldn't add instructions for it in a tutorial (late change and tutorials have to be finished very early due to voice acting), but my plan is for there to be an options menu page where you can disable this logic if you want.

There is also a way to move the throttle between "Hold" and "Up" or "Down" using the auxiliary traction control keybinds if you are on PC. When that settings page is implemented you can then disable the current system and still use the "Up" position, but only on PC (consoles don't have a keybind for auxiliary control).

Oh, I think I know what the issue is. You're playing with Expert Mode disabled, right?
I just tested it myself right now and with Expert Mode disabled some of the logic the disable safety systems and preset the train data (to allow using AFB) is still running causing the train data to be incorrect. I'll make sure to fix that.

My suggestion is to run the tutorial again with Expert Mode enabled (Settings -> Player Assist).

cfw.green, there is so much information coming at you here on the forum that I totally forgot this step. I started the scenario "Sweaty Palms" and was miffed. I thought that in these you were, to some extent, guided through the setup of the train and there was nothing about the safety system in the brief, so once I started, I got the warning about not using them and how it reduces your points.
