Is there a way to convert a standard scenario into a career scenario? I notice for some Metro North standard scenarios, even when operating at an efficient speed between stations, I get an X which will result in failing the scenario. I know a way around this is to edit the career.xml file but I was curious because in a career scenario, with scoring disabled, I can arrive to a station late and still get a check mark. I would like this to also occur for standard scenarios if it's possible. It seems it is very easy to fail a standard scenario that has a schedule. I would prefer not to modify or edit the schedules

The only method I've seen is via TS/RW Tools but even that requires some modification of bin files.

It's an ongoing irritation of mine as in a career scenario, even if late and lose 1000's of XP points you still get the tick and complete the scenario. 30 seconds late in a standard/timetable scenario, big red X, objective failed and with it the scenario. It does seem the only thing you can do is go into the scenario and edit the timings so they are a bit slacker and hope that doesn't bork any AI trains that are running.

It's a problem which afflicts many routes where the developer elected to do only standard scenarios, there's a few with UK steam like Stainmore Summit where the schedule was simply unattainable.

With TS Tools you can Clone a Career Scenario as a Standard one.

Think the OP wants the other way round, but certainly when I tried the option in TS/RW Tools to save as a career scenario it was messed up and wouldn't load properly. As noted I recall an additional note about changing some bin file entries, can't remember which.

If scenario writers allow the signalling to determine when trains can move there's little chance of adjusting timings making things worse. It's when the game is forced into timings that problems can appear. Try simply taking out the "Timed" setting at station stops then you wouldn't be penalised for being *late*

    ScenarioProperties.xml

In theory you'd need to add a <CareerRules> section, though I've not tested it.
