Oh yes it did! One wonders why so many services are missing - did they cause issues and there wasn't the time to fix them?
That’s why I said generally! True that steam did linger on until 1968 in a few pockets and the blue/grey livery was adopted in 1964 IIRC, but even as late as the early 1970’s you could still see the odd maroon livery Mark One running around.
Well that’s easily fixed. My second cousin twice removed has a friend who’s great aunt works for DTG, and she said only the other day that there’s a rat in the works. Spread it.
The Millers Dale shuttle was simply because they didn't have a DMU although they could have rehashed the class 101 although it would have taken a bit of work to get it back to 1963 condition. I am not sure why they didn't put the other services in, I can't see that it would have caused a problem. I think they said something about concentrating on the freight experience or something. Hopefully the timetable released with the class 104 will be much more like the prototype, at least we will have one fairly realistic steam period route as we clearly aren't getting any more for the foreseeable future. Although the silent AI steam trains (only DTG's thoughts on the matter make less sound) will ruin the immersion.
There's not a great deal of freight activities. A to b runs. There's plenty of freight stabled in sidings but not much in the way of swapping freight along the route, apart from a scenario. But with the 8f if I remember right.
Most of the freight runs seemed to consist of shuffling wagons a few short miles to and from the loading plant. Plus the odd through service some of which needed banking with the 4F.
Yea there's quite a few runs moving lime up and down a small section of line. Even with some loading lime. And the banking which is totally unrealistic. You can't see none of the signals up ahead and I assume the leading engine should be in controll of the train? I know they favoured road over rail by the 60s but I'm lead to belive that a lot of farms and industries still relied heavily on rail at the time. On tsc there's some scenarios where you are constantly stopping and backing into sidings and dropping of and collecting various freight. I know there is a scenario like this on tsw but I was assuming this would have been in service mode with more than one run throughout the day.
That said, BR blue was applied fairly rapidly and photos from the last couple years of steam - assuming they have a non-steam loco, multiple unit, or coach in them - will probably have some BR blue present.
DTG pised me off at the release of this nice route because the rushed timetable. Still bought it day 1 because i think its worth. I hope with the cl. 104, finally the missing services will be added. Would be a nice touch to have a reworked cl.45 in the green livery.
The full handle is usually Spoon Operator online, but had to shorten it here. Yeah that'd make a cool intro song but really it's just slang for an Army cook.
Hope we get some 104/PF timetable update news at Dovetail Direct as it’s such a superb route with some of the best scenarios in the game but it’s just let down by its bare bones timetable.
Spawned Class 40 into the timetable again with some carriages. It's just a nice route. So well done but damn empty. The scenery itself I'd put up against any right now. Just so little on the rails. The amount of quarries empty too is sad. Could use some MML loving with an asset pack and some industrial animation for loading. Did someone say the old 101 fits on there historically too?
Most the DMU's would have come from Buxton depot, probably Derby Etches Park and likely the Manchester depots. Buxton had class 104's and at one point some class 111 which look the same as the class 101 but were mechanically different. I don't think Derby had any 101's at the time and there were none at the time in the Manchester area, Crewe had a handful for a while. Also the class 101 is in its post 1970's refurbishment guise. I suppose a green reskinned one is passable. Then again, it is your trainset so you can run what you like on it.
Ok thanks. Well, it's the closest thing in game we have I think until the 104 comes along. Anything else would be much later and not quite fit the map.
Part of me has some small hope that the reason it's being delayed by so long is they're trying to actually fix the route and maybe fix some steam issues? Either that or they're really struggling with the dlc? Or third option DTG have decided to hold it back for the next iteration of TSW if indeed that is a thing (Sorry I've been asleep under a rock for 4 weeks) because they know people will buy another version in order to get it. But if it is fixes for the route/steam we shouldn't be paying for another dev to fix that stuff DTG should've been doing. Although I am happy to pay for the new content and the 104 at present
personally I'm afraid so. I want to play the route more but just like american freight I really need to learn how to operate steam plus learn the route more to know where you suddenly go from 70 mph line speed to 15 without any warning to slow down. I'd like to drive a diesel railcar in timetable on it to learn it more as I really dislike all the hud elements and play with minimal and without the track monitor. I do think the MU isn't finished yet and will be released in TSW5, which I most likely will only buy on a 60% or more sale.
They should just put steam on the back-burner and add diesel to steam routes. Atleast that way we can enjoy the beautiful routes until they find a fix for steam.
It's definitely easier to achieve with the assets already in game (in some fashion) and the route already existing. Plus it'd be historically accurate....
Definitely. I don't mind spawing in a train on timetable mode but peak forest and sos are just way to quiet. They don't represent the railways of the time at all.
Backburner, no chance! They've already expelled it from Dovetail Towers and it now rests at the bottom of the Medway!
